    JG is one of the best values in boots. Their boots are unapologetically South African in their style. I can say that their boot can take a beating. Moderate break in. The lug soles are very hard, lasts a long time but no shock absorption

    • @sorrywrongnumber5280
      @sorrywrongnumber5280 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They said they started using a softer compound for the soles recently. I don't have a pair of jim greens yet, so I'm curious are you talking about the soles on the numzaan, or a slightly older pair of boots before they made the soles softer?

    • @ml8067
      @ml8067 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sorrywrongnumber5280 Razorbacks older, the ranger boots are a softer compound. Not sure if the AR8 will be using the old compound. If you are looking for a solid boot a a good price seriously look at JG. They are a bit wide. But I find that a plus most days. Razorbacks top down view look a bit duckish, the Rangers look normal.

    I don't know if I am breaking in the boots; or if the boots are breaking in my feet. A lot of hard leather. Especially around the heel. The ASHM last is not as wide as the STC last. Yet, the boot is still a wide fit with room for extra socks.

    All leather boot for 250 bucks seems like a very good deal to me. You know what it looks like to me ?
    An „adventurer boot“. Like something Indiana Jones or a similar character would wear. Not too military or tactical looking, but rugged and solid. Would love have an 8 inch version of this, like the Red Wing Harvester.

    • @jgalleg4

      Yeah! They're great. I bought a pair recently and I wore them to an academic conference in NYC and they worked great with my outfits and as a walking boot to wear around NYC, though I probably should have broken them in a bit more before going. That leather midsole is beefy.

    Nice, I've got a pair of Razorbacks that are maybe a couple of years old and serve as my dung-kickers, love them. This pair seems to fix just about every complaint I have (use of synthetics in construction, poor insole) but at this point I've put my razorbacks through so much abuse I'd feel bad putting them away for the newest, shiniest thing. After the brutal break-in, they feel like... a well-worn pair of boots, the wide JG last fits my feet extremely well.

    Nice review! I have several pairs of Jim Green boots - Stockman Chelseas, Baobab lace-ups, and their Razorbacks. The Stockman's and Razorbacks are in the wider last and I love then as someone with a wide foot and several poorly-healed broken toes. They do look a little "clown shoe" like but since I can wear them without issue, I don't care. ;) The Baobab's initially were painful being the narrower last, and I sized up a half size, but broke in nicely after a few days of wearing them. I'd buy these in a heartbeat if I could get them in the wider STC last as on the Stockman's and Razorback's.

  • @cwr8618

    I find this to be their most handsome boot. My hesitations to purchase are 1) the midsole looks too stiff. I would get custom and exclude this piece, to give more flexibility and 2) I don't like the low profile toebox and nervous about the width, being a wide footed person. Last little detail is no pull tab, which I understand was intentional.
