SOUTH POLE | NIGHT IN ANTARCTICA III

This is Part III of IV of the South Pole timelapse series shot by Robert Schwarz. Shot in the winters of 2016 and 2017.
The South Pole is one of the coldest, driest and harshest places on earth. The Aurora Australis can be seen together with the core of the milkyway only here in Antarctica. Temperatures below -70°C/-95°F during the polar night are not uncommon. Together with strong winds and exceptional aridity this is one of the hardest places to shoot timelapse in. Special equipment has been constructed and modified to keep the cameras running.

Hello Martin, could you explain us a little bit about this "slowing down / interpolation" process ? I know that 24/25 fps looks more cinematic than 50/60 fps but I don't understand the part when you are decreasing to 8fps and, how you can go back to something normal (?). So I know its not about the video, but I just build myself a motorized slider for timelapse and was wondering how im supposed to to a night timelapse when the shutterspeed is like 20secs.... I mean the camera is moving on the slider and I would expect a blurry image... Any tipps or tricks? Im a complete Newbie to Timelapse

You do a SMS timelapse (shoot-move-shoot). Most motion control devices have that feature.
