Gworks and Campingmoon make allot of cool adapters. MY favorite is using a butane to lindel adapter so you can use much cheaper butane gas vs those ripoff isobutane cartridges. Many asian food stores have butane cans for like $1.50.

I bought one of these on aliexpress for 5 bucks its worked great for 2 years only thing is tho use a camp stove that has a hose so the stove itself is on the ground and not high and unstable. Beats buying butane anyday, a 1lb propane bottle lasts insanely long and that same bottle could be used for a lantern and a torch.

By the way, they make adapters to convert the older Coleman suitcase stoves from Coleman Fuel/Gas/Kerosine to work with propane. AND you can get a hose that will allow you to use THOSE (such as the Coleman 413) w/ the larger propane tanks and that adapter I just spoke of! Nice versatility if you have and/or pickup one of those old stoves on the used market! Hank Hill would be proud!

My dad had one of those adapters for a gasoline Coleman stove years ago. It worked well. However, with or without the adapter, the old stoves had the main burner and then a secondary burner that wouldn’t put out as much heat. The propane stoves have two full heat burners. That’s why I switched from the gasoline stove.

Never fully understood converting a white gas stove to propane, you can get used propane stoves really cheap if you look around. And I've got to imagine they run better on the fuel they were designed for.

Cool adapter. Suggest you grab a base from a propane lantern to go on the bottom of the 1 lb propane tank to add stability. Also, think you can get a single burner propane stove with a tank base for about what the adapter costs. 😊

A myriad of these adapters are available on Amazon, Wally's, and Alie Express, to name a few. The price point is all over the place as I'm sure the quality is as well. There are also kits to fill small pressure containers from a 5 gallon propane bottle. (One should do One's homework and observe ALL safety protocol if doing this. Anyway, these adapters give us backpackers, bikepackers and would be campers options for using our equipment. Thanks for sharing............

  • @davidhawkins847
    @davidhawkins847 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There is one of these adapters to go from just about any of the three gas types to the others. They can be found for around $7 - $20, but can't say anything about quality, though they are probably all made in the same factory and rebranded. I even found one company selling a complete kit of them, but the kit price was on the high end of cost per unit (total $150). They come in handy both from an availability perspective but also in an emergency. I happen to keep this same Propane bottle to Lindahl vale adapter with my remote canister stove. It allows me to get a better burn in the cold than I would with the IsoButane canisters. For the same reasons mentioned in other comments, I would not like to use my direct mount stove on top of the propane bottle without a better base. Been there, done that on the tipping thing, losing all my food when something I thought was stable shifted.
Do make sure to check your adapter if you order any. They should have the same standard valves in them as they are converting to, but I have heard of some that completely leak or act like there is no valve when you put them on the fuel vessel. As Aaron mentioned, I wouldn't leave the adapter on the source bottle due to possible leaking.

This video was a suggested yt video. I like it and will check out some of your other videos. I picked up a Lixada brand adapter a couple of years ago for two reasons 1) To use up some extra propane tanks that I had left over from my car camping days 2) to give me an option for colder weather when the iso/propane mix are not ideal. A couple of issues that I came across and one of them is shown in your video and not discussed. If you use a burner that mounts direct to the canister, the set-up with the adapter and propane tank is tall and very tippy. There are bases available to make them stable (Look at the propane lantern options) My solution was to pick up a slightly larger burner that has a fuel line so I can have the tank off to the side and so I can use a small frying pan with the burner. The other issue is I think the propane might burn hotter as the stove I bought had a piezo switch and the heat from the propane melted it.

I just ordered one it's going up a couple bucks. However I have an adapter that I can recharge the green canisters from a larger tank which is a huge savings. So I can use green tanks as a burner and then refill them later. The only thing I worry about it stability. However I have a single burner Heater Buddy it comes with a very huge stabilizing base that the canister goes into. I plan on using this space anytime I use a canister to cook with or use the heater. And if I'm out somewhere and don't have it I might just dig a little hole and half and if I'm out somewhere and don't have it I might just dig a little hole and half Bury the canister. But I thank you for turning me on to this adapter. I usually cook over wood but some places don't have wood I go out there to spend good time not to spend more money than a motel.

I worked for a medium sized chain of large Department stores for 15 years.
Technically we were supposed to stock the "iso" cannisters. BUT, in reality? We almost never had them in stock. The supplier only sent us about 8 or 10 at a time. And we offered everything at a discounted price. So, they would always disappear from our shelves in just days! Then, no more shipments for 60 or 90 days!

Wow, if you're saying that little adapter cost about $20 bucks, then I got a great deal on the single-burner backpacking stove I just ordered. I paid $18.79 for Jafaior Portable Camping Stove and it came with that adapter. In fact, the only reason why I ordered this single burner is that it came with the adapter. I am already using the 1 lb. green Coleman propane tank for my dual burner stove. You're right, it's easier to find the 1 lb propane tank than the other type. My single burner is supposed to arrive on Tuesday because I just ordered it a couple of days ago. There are other single burner stoves that also come with the adapter.

Some iso/pro stoves just don't do well on propane. I grabbed one of them adapters wayyy before covid for around 5 bucks. I do keep around 10 1 lb canisters full that I refill for many uses. Power outages out here in the woods like this week as an example. We also have 2-3 15 lb tanks and a 100 lb'er at all times. You can get a nice 4 burner cooktop to use with 15 lb tanks for less then 75 dollars. We use that and a 2 burner high output burner at our outdoor kitchen.

I've been using this type of adapter and larger tanks for years. Tried one on a Thermacell Backpacker Mosquito Repeller last year and it didn't work. Figured it was an orifice size issue.

I like the idea of running a kovea catalytic heater in a camper using a large propane tank. I see an adapter that will work for that. Has anybody tried it?

Better off with a liquid fuel stove in winter camps like some of the MSR range or (I use) Primus Omnifuel, burns kerosene, gasoline, diesel and standard thread gas canisters

Are these types of stoves allowed for carry on in US airlines ?

The stove is allowed if clean and no fuel smell or residue, the fuel canisters aren't allowed. This is why this adapter is great if isobutane canisters aren't available.✌️

I want an adapter that works on the 'cheaper' push fit cylinders. The ones that are 4 dollars for three canisters here in Australia.

Add the adapter that lets you refuel those little propane tanks and that's a lot of money that can be saved.

$23.95 at Amzn. Toss it in your bag and forget it. It will pay for itself sooner or later. It will also allow you more fuel diversity.
