If Minecraft became an e-sports game, then more Asians (like third world countries or smth) would play the game despite being not f2p lmao Also, people who play here prefer games with an already intense e-sports scene, I even made an argument with people here which is better (Minecraft vs MOBAs, CoD) but i still prefer Minecraft PvP because it's a lot simpler, and you can easily understand where you should attack or not, because the meta is a lot less varied, unlike games like MLBB, you have to make a build yourself or even waste time of it, In Minecraft, you just have to know if how stacked you and that other opponent is, and just rods, and the gapple thing. Also, Minecraft's connexion is based on ticks, so because of the 20tps system, anyone in the same 50 range has the exact same ping. So for the server, if you have 1 or 49 ping, there's 0 differences. The only issue starts if one has 49 and the other 51, they are in 2 different ranges so the second one lags.
The game in minecraft, bridge duels, NEEDS to be an esport. It is the most competitive game on Minecraft that there is. You need the most skill and experience to battle against your opposing teammates. It’s legitimately the most skilled game on minecraft. You need game sense, knowledge on multiple techniques, and so much more.
^ This times a thousand. Let a casual game be a casual game. If people want to have a community-run competitive scene, then awesome! But they really shouldn’t expect the developers to develop the game based on a niche portion of the community.
Minecraft can be whatever someone wants it to be (unless you want it to be a pvp game in 1.9+) which is why its so popular. Its a casual fun game with loads of freedom and that's what makes it different.
The most Minecraft thing I’ve ever seen was seeing 2 hackers (one my teammate, another an enemy) battle it out in the sky during a team bedrock eggwars match on Cubecraft. My friends and I were dying, literally and metaphorically
Capitaine_Morgan did someone actually say that? From my experience laggers are the ones who always have an edge, the only advantage you get for lower ping is that you are more likely to get the first hit, whereas laggers can literally continue a combo from 5 blocks without doing anything special. Goes for both 1.9 combat and 1.8 combat
@@rian534 not true,at least for 1.7 and 1.8. Once you have a good aim, strafe and clicks you should win your fights again any player with the same skillset but higher ping.
Ping doesnt really matter, unless the difference between both players is higher that 50ms, so that the server processes the packets of one player in another tick that the packets of the other one. Besides that: Many competetiv modes in MC are heavily based on tactics (UHC, Teamfights, Skywars, Bedwars, 1v1s with tactic-kits, ...). In these cases ping is even less an issue
Spyrovic the thing is that, a pinger and a lagger have different skillsets. Laggers should put more effort into getting the first hit, cause after that they can chain long combos, whereas pingers will probably want to put effort into prolonging their combos. I guess I’m wrong when it’s at a really high level though, because people probably do have the abillity to prolong their combos despite ping at that level. But generally speaking, a lagger can easily get combos that would otherwise take much more effort if they had normal ping. I guess this goes more for 1.9 above than 1.8 though. Just my 2 cents on it, I may be wrong though
@@rian534 I get what you're saying but you just pinpointed the main issue: laggers never get the first hit. No reason why they should. But also yes I'm talking about higher level pvp, for the average player your argument makes complete sense.
Ik right? I was expecting a comment like this, everything he said can be denied with that duel. Minecraft already have the necesary things to become an esport. It would have been amazing to watch the king participating in something like that, rest in peace Techno
It’s because it was never intended to do so. The original purpose was fun, and nothing should get in the way of that Edit: he said it at the end 😂 Edit 2: woah 200 likes thats a first :)
Ranked skywars as an e-sport might be interesting to watch even for outsiders due to chest control, block clutches and all sorts of various tricks and strats used.
@@uhhclaymore Yeah, Minecraft's PVP isn't "simple" but it's not that complicated either. It's a little fun to watch but honestly just doesn't fit in e-sports because of how clunky the things in 1.8 and prior are, and I don't even think they'd take a look at 1.9.

I like your videos Fit, and I've been watching your videos for more than a year, but this video has some wrong points or they are not exactly correct. That needs to be cleared. . 1:20 Minecraft doesn't have a player base enthusiastic about their game competitively A lot of players were and are still watching Minecraft competitively, especially in 2016 and the UHC Elite of that time prove this. There were a lot of audiences. Of course, the Minecraft community being scattered into different playstyles, not all the community were watching it, and that's all right, Minecraft is quite the unique case since it's a sandbox game but a lot of players in the game means a lot watching PvP too. And with Jeb, Mojang, Microsoft starting to care by realizing the money they might have lost, having big in-game announcements like LoL are more likely to appear in my opinion, bringing more interest and popularity into the game. . 6:30 Cheating is a rampant problem in Minecraft With the apparition of special clients like the Badlion one and money being poured by ESL or any other major esport organization into the game, cheating is less likely to appear but will always be a problem, like in CSGO. Plus a lot of countries in the world are now coming with laws concerning esport, and punishment as well. . 9:00 Minecraft was not designed to be competitive I laughed hearing this, to be honest, I couldn't have heard a more wrong argument like that I think I only a few games that were designed to be competitive: StarCraft II, Valorant, CSGO and most of them they took the popularity of the previous title, all other games, StarCraft I, WarCraft III, CS(1.5,1.6,... and Source), Fortnite, LoL, Dota were not initially made to be competitive. They were just mods of a previous game(CS for Half-Life, LoL(inspired by Dota for WarCraft III)), or just games(SC I, Fortnite) that saw their popularity grew up and were played in LANs, and cash prizes appeared to make the games even more competitive. The case of Fortnite is a little particular since the esport scene grew up very quickly with enormous cash prizes very fast but essentially this is it: games that people were playing and poured money into, like a bet or a challenge. I understand hyperbolizing this statement since Minecraft is unique as I already said, with a scattered community, but after all the understatements you were putting in, I don't see why bringing it in since in your utopia we could have support from Mojang and global announcements, and people watching, so organizations earning money: "it all kinda comes back to the money issue". . 9:10 Combat is a lot dependent on your ping If you know how to play well, it is not, of course having high ping puts you at a disadvantage but you have a lot of gimmick in Minecraft PvP: rod, lava buckets, bow,... . 9:20 Minecraft combat is pretty basic CSGO combat is pretty basic, that's just guys firing(like with a bow) at each other at first, and them comes grenades(lava buckets, rod), teamplay,... . 9:50 Minecraft just doesn't have the visuals There is a lot of people in Korea right now watching SCBW, which is a game that came out in 1998 and even with 2018 remaster, is still with 2D graphics making false 3D. . I thought the video was well written and was explaining quite well why Minecraft does not have a competitive scene or failed to have one, but I'm also quite an enthusiast with Mojang finally caring. I'm just disappointed by the last part of the video where I'm just hearing a guy whining about Minecraft PvP while showing footage of 1.9+ PvP and not real 1.7-1.8 PvP. I'm open to all criticism and will answer them and explain my points if you didn't understand them. Thanks for reading. . PS: I'm sorry for my bad English
@@janundsoo We're talking about the birth of an esport here of course we are going to start small, you are comparing the birth of an esport to other esports that are already well established.
@@swarm4196 that is true too. now the combat. it cant be more basic than minecraft. I am talking about the combat mechanic not how u can combat in minecraft (lava, blocks etc. ) it is just press a button to do a default attack on a giant hitbox. csgo instead there are multiple hitboxes. spray patterns, close combat dmg types etc etc.
doubt anyone will see this but I actually played a few of those Badlion tournaments, even won a little money and I have to say: this video is significantly better than I thought it would be just based on the title as i havent really see this channel before. Its shame minecraft esports didnt work out because competitive minecraft has such a rich history with interesting gamemodes and gameplay mechanics, and all it is now a small number fractured, dying communities the last point is about how its not a good spectator sport is really true more then most people know. minecraft pvp(1.7/1.8 pvp the version most of the comp scene is still in) is actually really complex and deep. the problem is it looks like two people clicking at each other until one dies. it also feels like this until you reach a middle/high level of skill. team gamemodes can help this by adding more players and objectives like flags but the issue is more of the key mechanics of pvp just cant be seen easily two examples of this: 1. you get more reach by aiming at the center of the enemy horizontally and 90 degrees(straight forward) vertically. this is basically just because of trigonometry 2. to deal the most knockback - dealing more knockback often leads to get more hits due to another hidden mechanic - you have to stop sprinting and start sprinting every time you hit someone but this creates a problem because if you arent moving towards the enemy when you do this it leaves you more vulnerable to taking knockback(once again caused by another hidden mechanic) so when you see two people pvping at a really high level, theres actually this really complex dance going on much like a fighting game but it just looks like nothing to a uninformed spectator. imo there is one point you kinda missed which is the minecraft pvp community is very fractured between different gamemodes. In most esports, the comp mode is mostly the same, maybe different maps but its still the same game with minecraft theres so many gamemodes and formats its makes it nearly impossible to center around one thing. there is uhc, hg, bedwars, skywars, RFW, potpvp based gamemodes, hundreds of 1v1 kits, soup based gamemodes, the OCN gamemode family which includes CTW, DTM, DTC, KOTH, CTF, 5CP, KOTF, and TDM. I'm sure i missed a bunch. thats just off the top of my head and thats not even considering gamemodes that mix any of these as for the glimmer of hope at the end of the video, I highly doubt anything will come from that as they arent really listening to competitive players and most actual competitive players have their voices drowned out by the masses of people who dont fully understand. many people simply think 1.7/1.8(the version the most hardcore comp ppl play) pvp is about ONLY ping and click speed, which is wrong. ping and click speed are factors and they are stupid factors. they shouldnt matter and they ruin the actual interesting hidden mechanics that exist but since they are the most visible, people assume thats all there is, then use that to dismiss those who know more. regardless, nice video also, if anyone actually read all of that, thanks for reading and if you more questions feel free to ask as this was like the VERY simple version
What about Smash Bros, they started their own competitive scene without help of Nintendo. Although I guess Smash Bros is more exciting to watch for newcomers than Minecraft is.
Calebe Souza idk about supporting it... but at least they recently had an online tournament with competitive rule set, and the game is getting balance patches. They still need to have official offline tourneys with actual cash prize pools. It is slowly getting better, but not by much.

Also, people who play here prefer games with an already intense e-sports scene, I even made an argument with people here which is better (Minecraft vs MOBAs, CoD) but i still prefer Minecraft PvP because it's a lot simpler, and you can easily understand where you should attack or not, because the meta is a lot less varied, unlike games like MLBB, you have to make a build yourself or even waste time of it, In Minecraft, you just have to know if how stacked you and that other opponent is, and just rods, and the gapple thing.

Minecraft can be whatever someone wants it to be (unless you want it to be a pvp game in 1.9+) which is why its so popular. Its a casual fun game with loads of freedom and that's what makes it different.

“If two players are the same level in pvp” “the one with less ping will win” *me gets 8blocked by a guy with 200ms*

1:20 Minecraft doesn't have a player base enthusiastic about their game competitively
A lot of players were and are still watching Minecraft competitively, especially in 2016 and the UHC Elite of that time prove this. There were a lot of audiences. Of course, the Minecraft community being scattered into different playstyles, not all the community were watching it, and that's all right, Minecraft is quite the unique case since it's a sandbox game but a lot of players in the game means a lot watching PvP too. And with Jeb, Mojang, Microsoft starting to care by realizing the money they might have lost, having big in-game announcements like LoL are more likely to appear in my opinion, bringing more interest and popularity into the game.
.
6:30 Cheating is a rampant problem in Minecraft
With the apparition of special clients like the Badlion one and money being poured by ESL or any other major esport organization into the game, cheating is less likely to appear but will always be a problem, like in CSGO. Plus a lot of countries in the world are now coming with laws concerning esport, and punishment as well.
.
9:00 Minecraft was not designed to be competitive
I laughed hearing this, to be honest, I couldn't have heard a more wrong argument like that I think
I only a few games that were designed to be competitive: StarCraft II, Valorant, CSGO and most of them they took the popularity of the previous title, all other games, StarCraft I, WarCraft III, CS(1.5,1.6,... and Source), Fortnite, LoL, Dota were not initially made to be competitive. I understand hyperbolizing this statement since Minecraft is unique as I already said, with a scattered community, but after all the understatements you were putting in, I don't see why bringing it in since in your utopia we could have support from Mojang and global announcements, and people watching, so organizations earning money: "it all kinda comes back to the money issue".
.
9:10 Combat is a lot dependent on your ping
If you know how to play well, it is not, of course having high ping puts you at a disadvantage but you have a lot of gimmick in Minecraft PvP: rod, lava buckets, bow,...
.
9:20 Minecraft combat is pretty basic
CSGO combat is pretty basic, that's just guys firing(like with a bow) at each other at first, and them comes grenades(lava buckets, rod), teamplay,...
.
9:50 Minecraft just doesn't have the visuals
There is a lot of people in Korea right now watching SCBW, which is a game that came out in 1998 and even with 2018 remaster, is still with 2D graphics making false 3D.

PS: I'm sorry for my bad English
SCBW might not have the visuals, but it has a pretty high requirement of players' skills and
tactical awareness.They are totally different.

Its shame minecraft esports didnt work out because competitive minecraft has such a rich history with interesting gamemodes and gameplay mechanics, and all it is now a small number fractured, dying communities
the last point is about how its not a good spectator sport is really true more then most people know. minecraft pvp(1.7/1.8 pvp the version most of the comp scene is still in) is actually really complex and deep. the problem is it looks like two people clicking at each other until one dies. it also feels like this until you reach a middle/high level of skill.
team gamemodes can help this by adding more players and objectives like flags but the issue is more of the key mechanics of pvp just cant be seen easily
two examples of this:
1. you get more reach by aiming at the center of the enemy horizontally and 90 degrees(straight forward) vertically. this is basically just because of trigonometry
2. to deal the most knockback - dealing more knockback often leads to get more hits due to another hidden mechanic - you have to stop sprinting and start sprinting every time you hit someone but this creates a problem because if you arent moving towards the enemy when you do this it leaves you more vulnerable to taking knockback(once again caused by another hidden mechanic) so when you see two people pvping at a really high level, theres actually this really complex dance going on much like a fighting game but it just looks like nothing to a uninformed spectator.
imo there is one point you kinda missed which is the minecraft pvp community is very fractured between different gamemodes.
I'm sure i missed a bunch. thats just off the top of my head and thats not even considering gamemodes that mix any of these
as for the glimmer of hope at the end of the video, I highly doubt anything will come from that as they arent really listening to competitive players and most actual competitive players have their voices drowned out by the masses of people who dont fully understand.
many people simply think 1.7/1.8(the version the most hardcore comp ppl play) pvp is about ONLY ping and click speed, which is wrong. ping and click speed are factors and they are stupid factors. they shouldnt matter and they ruin the actual interesting hidden mechanics that exist but since they are the most visible, people assume thats all there is, then use that to dismiss those who know more.
regardless, nice video
also, if anyone actually read all of that, thanks for reading and if you more questions feel free to ask as this was like the VERY simple version
