Can confirm. Flew from ORD to ZRH in June. This trip was horrendous and the cheese plate looked unrecognizable. Airplane was from the 90 and never refitted. Everything was old and worn off. Price was premium tho 😁
I flew on Swiss First class last month from Tokyo to Zurich which was a 14 hour flight. It was a day flight completely and they served just 2 meals. And the second meal just before landing was a sandwich.

The A330 and A343 products are poor and I avoid them at all costs.

I have been flying SWISS Business Class from Miami to Bangkok on 777’s for 4-5 years. I just hate the cabin seating layouts- preferred Finnair A 350’s much more. Service and food has been ok but not great. This year I paid $6,000 vs. $4,000 last year but I stay in Thailand for 7 months. Lately was looking at Turkish videos : the food choices looked much better, they have mattresses to cover the seats for sleeping and I think they offer free internet. Another option I would like to try is Qatar Q suites. Will not consider SWISS again until I see some real improvements.
I had a similar experience to yours. When I flew with swiss, the panel on the side of my seat was barely hanging on, the trim around the seat was all scratched and whole the padding on the seat was fine for a few hours, towards the end of the ten hour flight I could really feel how thin the padding had gotten. The service on the other hand was absolutely outstanding on my flight. Thanks for your reviews. Your reviews are such an inspiration for me.
For some added context on the hard product: the J seats on LX's A330s are tired but it was originally rolled out in 2009 so not really surprising imo. Having flown the seat in 2016 (they were outdated then), the newer 777 and A340 J cabins are a big upgrade in comparison. At least the A330s will be refurbished with the new Swiss Senses (LH Allegris) cabin starting in 2026. tl;dr wait for the brand new a350s coming in 2025 or the cabin refresh in 2026
This is the only business class seat I have ever been in. I was going from Zurich to Copenhagen on economy class with Swiss in 2016, and for some reason they gave me a business class seat on my boarding pass. At that time I didn´t even know flights had those special business class and first class cabins that looked different from economy class, so I was very overwhelmed and surprised! I thought the whole flight had seats like that and that it was just a new upgraded flight due to modern times 😅Then I learned about business class, and have put it on my bucket list to try it again one day on a long distance flight. But hell no, I am not paying those huge sums of money... I gotta find another way. Anyways, I loved the seat. I was sitting at the window in a 2-seat configuration
I’m a XXL shirt. The window seats are the worst biz class on the sky with zero shoulder separation from the airplane wall. I was constantly fighting the wall for shoulder space it was ridiculous.
I've never flew business/first class but Dan's videos make me want to fly them as frequently as possible lol, I'm so happy youre doing this it will help those of us planning trips to make better decisions before tossing so much money to an airline
I’m not sure why people say the front “mini-cabin” is the best place to sit in business class on this plane. From my experience, it’s very loud and busy with the bathrooms, the galley, and the flight attendants going back and forth to first class. I far prefer the peace of the seats at the middle and back of the main business cabin.
I totally agree with you there. Flew 3 weeks ago ZRH-SFO in business class and for a lot of money on a single seat. In the business lounge there was for ALL drinks only one glass form (white wine glass) which was totally lousy, ALL drinks except the beer from the tap were lukewarm as well as the food offered. Unfortunately the seat was hard, the food not worth the money (dry beef fillet that was cooked through), however ser service in general was good. On the night return flight SFO-ZRH the same: hard seats (impossible to sleep), a lukewarm meal and at least the breakfast in the morning was good. In the future I will save the money.
Did BOS-ZRH 2 years ago on the 330. The lounge in ZRH was really nice , feel asleep on one of those zero gravity loungers. The seat was most likely a bit better than 2 years on , but not the best. i was actually told that the foot space is smaller on the throne seat?? The food and service on board was great. Like you I got a bit peckish and they brought me a cold meat sandwich , luck of the draw.

Hi there I have flown on the same plane meaning the a330-300 in Businessclass from Zurich to New York. This was my first experience in Buisinessclass. My parents are Star Alliance frequent flyers, meaning that they travel a lot in Buisinessclass. They said that the Swiss a330 Buisinessclass cabin was not at all comparable to the 777-300er. Swiss still usees an old and quite outdated cabin on the a330. In my view the premium Experience at Swiss is amazing. As my first Buisinessclass experience I have to say I was a bit disappointed. But with the new A350s coming early next year I would give the Swiss Buisinessclass another Chance. Thanks for your honest review. Hope your future Experience with Swiss will be better, because I know Swiss is better than that.
Thank you for your honestly! Your focus on those who travel less often is an important one. As the prices go up up up, and the BC cabins vary so greatly it makes your reviews so valuable when one is try to decide who to fly.
It seems like you had special meal order. Since you have a special they won’t offer you Udon. They were confused because they probably thought you wanted to exchange your special meal for udon, and this is not always possible. Next time you can either remove your special meal order in advance or ask to change your option if possible.
Hey Dan, I agree that Swiss needs to update their Hardware. This is not what Business Class should be like in 2023. I last flew them in Mai and I have to say that the crew did a wonderful job which makes up for the weak seat.
Your videos are awesome - I especially like their soundtrack! About LX ('SWISS'): I used to be a 'Senator' (LX Gold), frequent on routes from Switzerland to Asia. Until I realized that the treatment you get on EVA Air or China Airlines Economy is about the level of treatment as a LX status customer on their Business. Also 'SWISS' is an entirely German-owned airline, 100% part of LH group. Not wanting to blame it on this but the airline is just a disaster. A shame for our country - they should simply not be allowed to fly our flag. Apologies from Switzerland and kudos to the Taiwanese carriers, at least when travelling East!
I completely agree, my swiss business experiences were similar. Even though the food is good, on day flights (even 10+h) there is only one warm meal, the second is a mediocre sandwich. (but on night flights there is a breakfast for the 2nd meal) I avoid the overpriced swiss business fligths when possible
I cannot talk about business, but the Zurich to San Francisco flight I had on coach class was the most uncomfortable experience of my life. I could never imagine that legroom could be this small.
I flew Swiss business class from Zurich to Singapore in January 2023. Found used socks in my footwell and alerted the crew. All I got was a sigh, a quick sorry, her picking it up… and that was it. Considering we were not long out of a pandemic… won’t be flying with again because cleanliness and hygiene are important.
Dan, could you do a video commenting on the current state of award/points flight booking? It feels like there's so little award seat availability. The Aeroplan website has had a known bug for months that it won't show partner award flights (or even cash ones) with no foreseeable fix. Is it just a bounce back in travel and people spending the points they saved over the pandemic or is this also a cost cutting measure from airlines?
I’m Swiss so it pains me to see our national airline in that state. As a general observation, European airlines are really lagging behind Asian, middle eastern, and even American carriers.
@@ankus204 yes and no! Yes Edelweiss belongs to Swiss and is in my opinion a rather good leisure carrier (nothing special but ok). And No because Edelweiss is always the same on board since 1995 . Back then, the travel agency Kuoni managed the airline. Some changes but consistency since 1995.
Sound like the SWISS crew were trying to save that mousse for themselves at 10:26 , hence why something really appetising like that mouse doesn’t / didn’t exist(?)...
Flew the overnight Swiss flight in business class from Dubai to Zurich is even worse. The night lights are way too bright. They skimp on the food by offering a “bistro menu”. I wanted some soup which was on the menu. It turned out to be powdered and they didn’t mix it properly. There were powdery chunks in the cup!
Tbh the Swiss business in the a330 and a340 is a bit outdated but the 777 experience is completely different and better. One of the best business classes out there. Hopefully the a350 will also deliver
I had the pleasure of flying with Swiss a few times from EWR-ZRH-PMO. From EWR-ZRH the crew was very friendly and the food was great for economy. Although I thought the IFE was very limited and outdated, the great food, real silverware and actual pillows made up for it. Would definitely fly with them again and can’t wait until they roll out the A350 as they had mentioned would be coming in 2025 I believe.
Go to Zurich for work a few times a year from NYC, refuse to take Swiss due their subpar seat - in contrast to United Polaris which is far more private and comfortable (tho with a so so soft product).
Yep! Flew Swiss business from JFK to Zurich recently in July. The staff were wonderful, but the services, food, the seats, limited movies, the amenity kit was below par! Your title fits very well, the Sad State of Swiss Business Class. Also, they don't offer slippers. When I asked if they had a pair, so I can use it when I go to the toilet, and the cabin crew told me to use the socks. I was speechless and disappointment. Lufthansa is the same. They don't offer slippers in business calls. So far, I think LOT is the only one in the Miles groups that does so far, but who knows for how long. Swiss Business class is very expensive, but the quality you get is way lower than what you pay for. Sadly, the Miles&More services and point system is only getting more complicated and going down the hill as well.
Currently in Interlaken, and having traveled a bit around Switzerland for work and vacation, my impression of Switzerland is beautiful landscapes, tasty meats/cheeses, good transportation and overpriced everything else.
Last week I got really lucky and got a business class Dubai to London City trip for only £200 ish more than Economy. Was no where near as good as Gulf carriers but for that price... not bad. Least favourite part was Zurich airport... unnecessarily complicated and whole "get your boarding card validated" to use the WiFi is ridiculous. Lufthansa lounge in Dubai is really disappointing too, ended up using the Ahlan Lounge (loungekey)
Id agree Zurich airport is not great. I got 10 minutes in the Swiss lounge due to the long time from my previous flight. Flew Swiss 777 from ZHR to LAX, and then their E175 European Business from Manchester. The 777 was niceish seat was really uncomfortable in bed mode in the throne at 6'4 but 1 meal and a side salad on a 12 1/2 hour flight. At least the crew saw me awake and made me like 3 chocolate ice cream cones and had some left over tea sandwiches from economy.
I’ll be on this exact flight out of and into DXB from sheer necessity in order to make it back to the US to spend Thanksgiving with the fam for the first time since 2012. I’m booked with United to get me to Newark, but the dates I wanted were outrageously expensive. I guess holiday pricing is in full effect. I used a pretty substantial flight credit I had with UA, so I’m just going to grin and bear it.
I am a heavy overseas traveller. I fly Swiss business every second week. Any heavy traveller knows we don't care about the food in the plane. We want to sleep, have a good seat and arrive on time. Swiss does the job. Said that Singapore Airlines is the only one that is really on top.
As a person who mainly fly with qatar airways it shock me that the business amenity of swiss kit look like the economy amenity kit of my mainly airline
Funny you should compare it to a Holiday Inn Express. The beds at the Luzern Holiday Inn Express are uncomfortably hard. But the hotel claimed it was normal. They must not use their own products.
At first I thought this review was overly negative until I flew in their business class on a transatlantic flight. The food/beverage service was incredibly rushed on an 11 hour flight with no courses and no pre meal beverage service. The seat was uniquely uncomfortable...I actually wound up with a hematoma from sleeping in lay flat and enduring this bar poking in to my side as I tried to sleep...so not only was it a miserable experience but I had a big medical bill to boot!
I wish I saw this review prior to booking a business class flight from Zürich to LA on Swiss Air…. That was a complete waste of money… staff was nice and friendly, but that was it… embarrassing
Swiss business isn't great but it's also affordable. You can buy a cheap eco light ticket and upgrade it for a reasonable amount to swiss business. For 400 chf more than eco for an 8 hrs flight, i find it worth it.
Last year i flew with Swiss from Zurich to Athens return, we left on time which was great. I was lucky i had 3 seats to myself on the flight to Athens.
Hey Dan, any difference between the senator & business lounge in Zurich? I’m a star alliance gold flying J from Zurich to Boston. Just looking for less crowded lounge to sit around before our flight . 🙏🏻
Hi Dan, Long time lurker, first time commenter. I love your videos. You have a great sense of humour. I would love to see you fly LOT Polish Airlines in Business Class and see your comparing it to SWISS, Lufthansa, and SAS
And here I was excited to go on my first business class flight trip this weekend! I suppose forwarned is forearmed, but that's some extra miles+some cash I used I'll never get back... still, the lie flat/single person in a row might be worthwhile? Or should I be looking into the other side where they alternate?
Flown on the 777 version's Swiss Business Class, and it was a more pleasant experience. I wouldn't bother with the A330 version - and it's a distinction you should mention.

just fly on the 777 and not the A330, I figured that out just with youtube, pretty simple, Just wait for the new soft product coming soon...things getting better, I think it's still a great great airline. The short haul buy on board menu is just fantastic, the mid and longhaul always were pleasant for me, although like I said, I only tried 777s. Lounge's never did disappoint as well in zurich.
Swiss is basically the cash cow in the Lufthansa group. It's main task is to live of the great past and milk the brand as much as possible. And it is still working. Swiss seems to earn the biggest profit and is still growing even tought the service gets worse every year.
I guess it about this "Swiss" general brand... If you stay in 4* or a 5* hotel in Zurich its the same story. overpriced and mediocre service, but its "swiss"
@@johnofdebar4071 Finally somebody speaking the truth. Swiss people have a tendency to rave about everything Swiss and frown upon the rest of the world. The truth is that Swiss hospitality in general is overrated and so are some of their products. That does not include coffee, cake and chocolate, though.
A seat priced at $2,000? OK, your journey did not originate from Zurich. Typically, for journeys starting in Zurich, a business class seat to Dubai tends to be more costly. The seating arrangement is not ideal for taller individuals, especially those who prefer to fully extend their legs while sleeping. I recall an incident from a few years ago when I inadvertently pushed out the panel in the foot area during my slumber. The passenger in front of me got the unexpected opportunity to check my socks for any potential holes! 😱
SWISS lost my luggage a couple of years ago and they took zero responsibility .. thank god the airport located my luggage after a week (I had to spend a couple hundreds of euros to get new clothes and essential items as I was travelling) .. and SWISS compensated nothing .. the staff asked me to claim my own travel insurance...
Well, I fly Swiss Business Class many times and I can not agree to this video. Of course there are points to improve. But when I compare to other carriers Swiss business class is good. Depending the mood of the crew ;) BUT what I really like about the business class seats is, that they automatically inflate and deflates the seat cushions so that you always sit comfortable. Other carriers don't have this cadget. But sorry... if you can't find the business class check-in at Zurich airport then I don't know what you do at a really complicated airport. ;) At Zurich it's so easy to find its way.
Amazing video as always Dan! Whenever I’m looking for a good review of an airline, my first choice is you. Just asking, could you make a new updated review on Iberia’s economy class? Last time you flew them was 2 years ago I think, and I’ve heard a lot has changed since the pandemic. Plus, me and my mom are planning to go on Iberia for summer vacation 2024 to Spain, so I would like to see your new opinion on Iberia.
The problem with having business and first is that you can’t make the seat too great in business because if you do, people will not see the point in booking first. Delta One on the A359 is just like BA First on the A388, it’s the ground experience that separates the classes and the concept just seems weird to me
Premium looks nice. Food in economy from Switzerland long haul can be excellent. From USA not as good. European short haul all you get is "water" and a tiny chocolate. It's like a low cost airline and yet I paid 300 Euros for a One Way one hour flight from Ljubjana to Zurich. All other one way fares were half that; about 150 Euros. At least ITA serve a beverage which is a big deal now.
I love your reviews you should definitely try edelweiss air (long haul) 🇨🇭 I remember I got metal cutlery in economy! and the food was great. Their business class is a bit better than the Swiss a330 business class.

Too bad it is so complicated. Udon is cheap to make, it should have been given as a compliment.
Hey Dan, I agree that Swiss needs to update their Hardware. This is not what Business Class should be like in 2023. I last flew them in Mai and I have to say that the crew did a wonderful job which makes up for the weak seat.
Hah. I love how the a380 was there at your departure “the flight we should have taken” 😂
Literally😂
You should experience airlines from China. They are amazing
I completely agree, my swiss business experiences were similar.
Even though the food is good, on day flights (even 10+h) there is only one warm meal, the second is a mediocre sandwich. (but on night flights there is a breakfast for the 2nd meal)
I avoid the overpriced swiss business fligths when possible
Please STOP promoting Masterworks
2:38 nice spotting the cute little baby bus 😊
was planning a trip to Switzerland next summer so looks like i will be using air Canada business
Thanks Dan! Love watching your videos!!!
I cannot talk about business, but the Zurich to San Francisco flight I had on coach class was the most uncomfortable experience of my life. I could never imagine that legroom could be this small.
Agreed--I've had better premium economy seats from Europe to CA
Swiss will now return to pre Covid service starting November. Can you review it than again?
Where did you get this information from? Please do share 🙏
@@adihaddadcause I work for the company
I flew Swiss business class from Zurich to Singapore in January 2023. Found used socks in my footwell and alerted the crew. All I got was a sigh, a quick sorry, her picking it up… and that was it. Considering we were not long out of a pandemic… won’t be flying with again because cleanliness and hygiene are important.
cry quite
So she picked up the socks AND said sorry. What's the matter? What should you have gotten? A "slower" sorry? Pathetic
@@benediktrs1263 You are angry. He dared to critisize SWISS. Thats a no go.
But it’s not really our national airline is it, if it’s owned by the Lufthansa Group. Not the same thing as Swissair.
At least we still have Edelweiss
Sorry to disappoint you, but Edelweiss belongs to Swiss. And as you know, Swiss belongs to …. Lufthansa!
I do not consider Swiss to be our national airline, it's a real disaster compared to its predecessor. Everything Lufthansa touches turns into garbage.
Sound like the SWISS crew were trying to save that mousse for themselves at 10:26 , hence why something really appetising like that mouse doesn’t / didn’t exist(?)...
Love you Dan! Thanks for your great reviews. Regards from NL
The A340 cabin was updated in 2019 and since then, it is comparable to the B777-300
@@thomasrutishauser7839 I forgot about that, I’ve not flown in the a340s new cabin yet
I am a flight attendant for SWISS and I can only agree. I am pretty ashamed of the product we offer.
First airline I ever flew by myself (at age 6!) The staff was so wonderful. Maybe better I not shatter the illusion of those happy memories.
Keep up the good work, I love your videos!
As a Swiss person it’s shameful. It is a Lufthansa airline at the end of the day, but it’s sad to see our flag on something this mediocre.
Please make a review on the new KLM business class
Currently in Interlaken, and having traveled a bit around Switzerland for work and vacation, my impression of Switzerland is beautiful landscapes, tasty meats/cheeses, good transportation and overpriced everything else.
I Like your sunglasses at 3:00 - can you send a link?
Shade shade shade across the board! 😂 love the sass in your recent videos!
Thank goodness I saw this-was thinking about Swiss ironically also to Dubai but no way.
Thanks a mill Dan-always love your posts
Cahill and Dan?
Must be a good day
Haha you follow both too! I thought the same.
I am a heavy overseas traveller. I fly Swiss business every second week. Any heavy traveller knows we don't care about the food in the plane. We want to sleep, have a good seat and arrive on time. Swiss does the job. Said that Singapore Airlines is the only one that is really on top.
Ever tried JetBlue mint? I fly that at least once a month to visit my family in Amsterdam and so far so good
Went to NYC with this exact same plane. Had the impression I was flying Air Koryo lmfao.
That was a complete waste of money… staff was nice and friendly, but that was it… embarrassing
dont fly on the a330!
777-300er is much nicer.
In senator lounge, you'll get a complimentary personal lobbyist.
Hi Dan
Is the A330 Used for longer flights to Bangkok 11/12 hrs !
Hi Dan, Long time lurker, first time commenter. I love your videos. You have a great sense of humour. I would love to see you fly LOT Polish Airlines in Business Class and see your comparing it to SWISS, Lufthansa, and SAS
Another great Video Dan , I just LOVE, watching your videos.
This video is such a far cry from the Dantorp days. Love your videos!❤️✈️
Finally a new videoo. Love it
the section about the bed killed me 😭😭😭😭

just fly on the 777 and not the A330, I figured that out just with youtube, pretty simple, Just wait for the new soft product coming soon...things getting better, I think it's still a great great airline.
That's weird, I just saw a business flight from Swiss Air from AMS to DBX with a stopover in Zürich for 1331 EUR.
@@youssef3616-l8g That's another journey that doesn't start in Zurich.
I was on the same flight back in april - crew, service and f&b was great. Cabin and the seat not so - already outdated and „used“
I’m traveling for the first time on Swiss from Zurich to DC. Are they safe? Are their pilots good? I’m a fearful flyer hence why I’m asking.
Gosh, I normally fly Lufthansa business but have a Swiss Business trip coming up iN December. Lets see…
What is the app or website you use to show the planes that are lined up on the tarmac?
Looks like flightradar
Have you ever flown Westjet? I only fly westjet and have had exceptional service.
I’d be interested to know your views.
Thank you! I'll see if I can fly Iberia sometime soon🙏
The problem with having business and first is that you can’t make the seat too great in business because if you do, people will not see the point in booking first. Delta One on the A359 is just like BA First on the A388, it’s the ground experience that separates the classes and the concept just seems weird to me
Dan, the current state of LX is tightly linked to the recent performance of LH... Swiss should have been much better on her own for sure!
I’m surprised you didn’t find the remote for the tv. It’s there, under the armrest, so you can play games 😊
Hi Dan, I enjoy your channel. May I stray off topic and inquire about your sunglasses? Those are cool. Best from California.
Great work Dan 💯✌
Good choice of sunglasses Persol ? ✔️
Just like my recent travel with Qatar airline. For 16 hours flight, they kept running out of food options I asked for🤦🏻♂️
keep up the good work!! Another amazing video👍🏾
Dan- is it just me or does the Business Class seat not very wide or roomy? It sort of looks like an economy seat with bonus items built around it.
I love your reviews you should definitely try edelweiss air (long haul) 🇨🇭 I remember I got metal cutlery in economy! and the food was great. Their business class is a bit better than the Swiss a330 business class.
This can not be… sorry but when was it? 30 years ago?? The food in swiss specialy in Eco is really not good and always the same…
@@Edi-g3y I am talking about edelweiss not Swiss
