    Malaysia is more developed now, but looking back, i dont know if its for better or for worse. It seems like life was better back in the 70s

      +Amber Hill i am Malaysian working in kuala lumpur. I would say Malaysia has developed now, but for worse in local's perspective. so many industries evolving but employers are spoilt with cheap foreign labors coming here by loose migration policies. lower educated locals are losing jobs leading to rise of unemployment rate mostly in rural regions

      Some people think that being 'developed' only means economic success such as having glittering skyscrapers, big shopping malls and sleek highways. But they forget that it should also include preservation of tradition and culture, freedom to explore new ideas, and having some heart and compassion.

      I think life was better back in the 50s - 90s (and early 2000s too I guess). There was more harmony than it is today. If you know what I mean.

      +RayRay true. i wrote about the essence of being humans. the government needs to redefine development aka civilization to include the various angles. the 5000 year old china civilization became what it was because they preserved some part of their ancient culture. all the music, poetry, philosophy those are precious parts of a great civilization. VIRTUE is also another thing. what is the point of having klcc, burj khalifa, etc if the young generation don't respect the elders, the leaders lie, cheat, steal people's money and betray the trust of the people, bullying, racism, these are signs we are losing our old virtues. as old and ancient as they are, these virtues & culture are things we all need to preserve.

    • @muhdyusuf24
      @muhdyusuf24 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @MRKLjinjang keyboard warrior at its best. You don't want an independence because maybe your ancestors aren't from malay archipelago. Malaya is our ancestral land and it's common for people to make mistakes. Their mistakes led the malacca to portuguese's trap. Same case with Kedah when they still have penang. Moreover, the westerners came to the east just to conquer and took the resources for their country. Then they pour many immigrants from china and india. If you just can't appreciate enough of what you get today, then go live in north korea, syria or ukraine. The chinese escaped from their land to have a better future so they came to Malaya as well but not so many until the British conquered the whole land. You're just being ungrateful citizen who didn't understand the suffering of our forefather in defending and reclaiming this land. Don't you ever think being under UK's rule will benefit you. Being under UK's rule meaning we were colonized. Being a colonized country doesn't have many freedom. You can't have freedom to pursue what you want during colonial era. People were divided into certain region and sector. I'm not going to reply to ignorant person like you. Have peace.

    So many Negative Nancies here. Seriously? Malaysia was better in 1970? Which dimension are you living in? All you choose to look at is the negative side. Malaysia has come a long way, and Malaysians are living better lives. Sure, there are problems, but those can be rectified if we work harder towards a better nation. However, if you think all is lost and everybody is to blame except yourself and your community, there are always other countries that might be more to your liking that you can go to... If you love Malaysia, you fight for its future.
