    Yeah... still waiting for DHL to deliver my RadioMaster.
    18:24... The RadioMaster TX16S with regular Gimbals and no touch screen is ~$100 USD MRSP while the RadioMaster with Hall effect Gimbals and Touch Screen is ~$129 USD MRSP. Those were the prices when I ordered mine.
    I decided to go with the RadioMaster just because of the old Jumper T16 lousy build and ~$60 USD cheaper price..

    Your channel and reviews lead me to buy my first camera drone a few weeks ago (Eachine EX4). Thanks to this playlist, I discovered FPV and I must say... IT'S AMAZING! I had never even heard of FPV until a few weeks ago and now I have a Tinyhawk 2 and a Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle, decent Fatsharks... I have my FrSky Taranis Q X7 being delivered today!! I will be getting a 5" kit to build one next. This hobby is incredibly addictive and so so much fun!

      Start out with just a radio such as a Radiomaster TX16S and then connect it to your computer via a USB cable and play Flight Sims. You'll get practice for the real thing when your ready to jump in the FPV hobby & can use the radio.

      CAPTAIN DRONE Thanks for the reply, that seems to be the case. Oh well I was given some old 36MHz and 29MHz radio gear, time to try and get that working with my little foam plane. Drones will have to wait :(. Love the content, keep up the good work!

      I had the same problem with Banggood, after purchasing it on the 2nd of last month, I’d had enough. So I went to their live customer service and asked what the hold up was, they said it was in such demand they were having trouble filling orders. They told me their next shipment arrives on the 17th, I said that if it isn’t sent soon I would be canceling the order and asking for my money back, not in points or anything like that. Also that I might not buy anymore from them again after that either. That was yesterday, today I got an email saying that it was on its way. Mind you I’m a very regular buyer, level 5 going by their app, so that means they realise how much I’ve spent on their products. If you’re a regular customer I’d get in touch with their online customer service, they might just “rush” your order.

    • @elijahr6261
      @elijahr6261 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David Reynolds thank you, I have actually messaged them a little while ago, they said the same thing to me. I just found that it has been shipped, although it says it will arrive late next month. I think I ordered in late June. Oh well it is worth waiting for I think.

    After more than a month on preorder Banggood is finally sending me my radiomaster tx16s, but only after I got onto one of their customer service guys, who said that the next shipment wasn’t due until the 17th, but he was going to put a rush on my order as soon as it came in. I said that unless they sent it very soon I would be canceling my order and probably not purchase much at all from them anymore. That was yesterday, then this morning I got a message from them saying that it’s on the way, that it was shipped. I’m so glad, because my jumper t16s has problems. I’m not sure if it’s the newer firmware I installed or the ribbon cables, tried a few different things but so far no good. The pots on the front only work for half the distance, the input button isn’t working properly(so I can’t even start to make any models). The menu buttons won’t allow me to go between the different screens and a few other issues. I got in touch with jumper to try to get the updated ribbon cables and they were unable to do that or unwilling. So for me I’m glad I’ve finally got the radiomaster on the way, they seem to care about their customers more, and I believe it’s a better value, and generally better product overall.

    Hi Steve
    Love your channel. I recently got into expresslrs or I should say trying to get into. I’ve been trying to get it to work for 2 days and haven’t had much success. It’s bound but no stick movement in betaflight. Really wish dji would update firmware for their controller to work on the new stuff. Anyway, I think you should do a video on expresslrs. It would help many people. I know others have done this but I like the way you explain it

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If no stick movement in the RECEIVER tab in BETAFLIGHT, then.... are you certain it is bound? If your answer is YES, then did you plug a battery into the drone after you powered on your radio, but BEFORE you connected it to betaflight?

      Yikes, that is a long time. I’d look elsewhere or go for the Radiomaster. No battery is included with the Jumper and Radiomaster and entry level QX7. The Radiomaster can take 18650 batteries and it can charge them. The Jumper takes the same batteries but can’t charge them (you need an external charger). The QX7 has a battery that can purchased separately, but also needs an external charger.

    Okay, well I just spent a lot of money! LOL. I ordered the Bumble Bee with DJI Goggles and Controller. I had to pick a receiver so I picked XM+ in hopes that I can ignore it when I use the DJI controller for now. Maybe someday I will get an FrSky XM+, but for now I hope I don't need one to fly the Bumble Bee since it appears you stated that the DJI controller module is built into the same unit as the digital camera module.
    About $1300 and then I just spent another $150 or so on spare batteries and a charger. It's just money........riiiight?!

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you ordered the Bumblebee with the XM+ Receiver, then the DJI receiver is disabled (only one can be active). You'll have to do some searching on line how to unsolder the XM+ receiver, and solder the DJI unit to the flight controller, then make changes in Betaflight. It is a headache if you are a newbie. To save headaches, perhaps just order V2 of the bumblebee since it gives the option to order with the DJI receiver only.

      Correct. In EPISODE 3, I show many drones with DIGITAL cameras and you'll here me say that I wanted to use a radio other than the DJI radio with them so when I ordered them, I just selected an FRSKY XM+ receiver as the receiver option, instead of selecting the DJI receiver. Many of us do this because we fly both DIGITAL and ANALOG FPV drones, so we need both types of radios and both types of Goggles.

I have one stuck in the tree in my backyard and I have landed in the schoolyard that’s shutdown because of Covid-19. Lucky me I got it back.
    I have a question about the controller, why is it that the stick causes the drone to go away from me when I pull the stick to me? My brain just doesn’t work that way. So I fly them backwards. Is there any fix for this?

      You can swap the receivers on almost all of them. So far I have not heard of anyone that flies FPV having motion sickness.... Hi there, just a newbie here. I have seen some BNF drones that are HD digital vtx. But they still let you choose the rx on the thing(eg frsky, crossfire, etc), aren't these rx supported by the other radios you have shown?. But in this video you said that digital drones can only be flown with that dji remote. Does dji support multiple protocols like the other radios you have shown here? Isn't there a one radio to do it all?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hopefully I have not confused you. In the FPV Drone world you buy a drone, any type of FPV drone (digital or analog) and you match the RECEIVER in the drone to the type of radio you own. In the CAMERA DRONE world (like DJI), there is no such thing because every drone you buy comes with a dedicated radio. So in the FPV hobby you buy a radio once and never again, so when you buy an FPV drone, either digital or analog, you just make sure that the RECEIVER works with the radio you own. So say you purchased a DIGITAL FPV DRONE. The DIGITAL part is the video signal, but the part that controls the flight is all determined by the RECEIVER. So if you own a JUMPER or RADIOMASTER radio, then you order the drone with a RECEIVER that works with such radios such as an FRSKY XM+ receiver. If your radio is a DJI FPV Radio, then that radio will ONLY connect to a DJI or CADDEX receiver, so you order the drone with that, which in most cases just means pick the PNP (Plug and Play option).

    • @In3rt_ia
      @In3rt_ia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 oh I get it now thank you clearing that out for me. So I assume the dji fpv drone has its own receiver that does not work with the radios shown here other than the dji radio. Am I right?. Also I have seen that tbs has crossfire module and also the tracer module. So say I buy a drone with the crossfire receiver, will it bind with both the crossfire module and tracer module as it uses crsf protocol as well? And one more thing, haha I apologize for lot of questions it's just alot of terms, but some of these receiver say Frsky has different types like xm+, xm, x4r. Can they all be bound to the radio with the radio with multi protocol like the tx16s or would you have to buy separate receiver for each?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@In3rt_ia CORRECT, the DJI FPV Radio only works with the DJI FPV AIR unit and CADDX VISTA units which both have built in receivers for the DJI FPV Remote Controller Radio. If you have a CROSSFIRE receiver placed in a drone (9 times out of 10 it is a Crossfire NANO receiver) then you need the Crossfire Nano Transmitter unit which you then plug into the back of your radio. DJI FPV RADIOS can't use such a unit (not-compatible). Most of the FRSKY receivers can be bound to the TX16S exept the new models. So stick with the FRSKY XM+.

    Is the range of the digital radio comparable to that of the analog radios? Does an analog radio with crossfire module outrange the digital by a lot? If so why would I use a digital radio? Does it offer something an analog doesn't? I get that the camera part is better in digital, but how about the radio part?
    I'm still trying to make up my mind about digital or analog and figured maybe 50/50 is best?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you use the entire DJI SYSTEM then the range can be as much as 4000 meters (2.5 miles). The average range of your typical radio shown in this video depends on the antenna on the radio and the strength of the video signal (if your video signal craps out, then you can't fly any further). So, out of the box VIDEO and FLIGHT range in an open space may be 500 meters or 1000 meters, all depending on which way your head is turned in relation to the drone, and how the antenna on the controller is positioned... Are you standing or sitting? Is there anything in between you and the drone? Big differences. Crossfire boosts the flight range but has no effect on video signal so you have to also boost that.

    Like many commenters here, I'm a noob, being drawn in by this great series on the topic. Am learning, thank you! So far, seems, the main advantage of going digital (principally DJI for controller and goggles) is highest resolution viewing in the goggles. Question: If I enter the hobby with the DJI FPV system kit, complete with drone, good for beginners, will the goggles and controller (different looking controller from that shown here) from that set work with/ bind with/ other non-DJI digital drones? Or would the goggles be the only part of the kit that would translate to other digital drones? Seems DJI kit is one possible path to start into digital FPV, since the system has flying tutorials for noobs and the drone has an easy mode. Great if I could then expand upon that system with other more specialized drones as skills improve. Is that feasible, or better to just start fresh with analog? Also just noted that in the US, as I study for part 107, (I may be wrong) FPV now seems to require a spotter, since a lone FPV operator does not have continual LOS. Applying regardless of pure recreational flyer or not.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

      If you can afford the DJI goggles then that is a good start. DJI goggles are only compatible with drones in the FPV hobby that contain a DJI Air Unit or CADDX VISTA unit. The goggles do not automatically work with the FPV hobby until you go into the menu and change the transmission setting. As a newbie, check Rotor Riot as they do sell complete digital drone kits with everything set up for you.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the world of FPV, range is determined by the weakest link, and that is your video signal. So in the DIGITAL FPV would, if you get the entire DJI system, the range is around 2.5 miles for video and flight. In the analog world, if you boost your video range and as well get a crossfire system and a good antenna system, your range could go as crazy as 10 or 20 miles. But, a radio out of the box that connects to an analog drone would give you maybe a mile on a good day if all factors are correct.

    Bnf 150 more than you can build and your build will have better parts (I.E. life time warranty on frame) and youll know how to fix. Build your own drone for shure. Stock pids work well. Get good frame if frame breaks other parts will break too. Allot cheaper and way better if build. Soldering is easy after a few pratice joints..you'll get the hang of it. Start with 30 30 stack for 4 or 5 inch. Bigger pads. Easy to solder. A BNF will break after few crashes. Youll do what we call rebuild. Get new frame and any other parts broke. Use Stack and moters. And bam rebuild that cost 150 more than if just built at first. Save some money build a better dtone, from start. For controller X-light not pro version. Qx7 Or dji remote if went digital. Which I advise. Best anlog system cost as much as Dji digital. Designed to work with system and has great range. No need for jumper once learn acro you wont ever fly a toy drone again. . if want distance crossfire fits on x-light. But for 99 % parks x light works. Mile is long ways to walk. Dji works with x-light too. Have to add a reciever. 3rd year in hobby..wish I would have built first bird. Bnf always break. If new to hobby find a channel of someone who flys. Full of advice. Yes. In my video series I show it all the time. When you watch episode 3 you'll see that plenty of the drones with a digital camera system are connected to my Taranis or Jumper T18 Radio because I have an external receiver in them. So if you get a DIGITAL CAMERA and want to use any radio on the market, you have to place an external receiver in the drone that is compatible with the radio. If you don't, then you are stuck with the DJI RADIO.
