This video is of high value to me. I'm 62 and I did not know I was in Acro mode and crashing every time I took off. Now you made aware of Angular mode, I'm now happy with the hobby.
I have flown fixed wing in the UK for many years and at 70 I am just taking up drone flying. I have watched all 11 episodes and found them very informative and concise. They have saved me a lot of time in choosing which equipment and drone to go for which best suits my needs. Thank you very Captain Drone
I bought a DJI version of the GEPRC Crocodile Baby 5 as my first FPV drone. I have followed your FPV for beginners TO THE LETTER! I am only using the drone’s built in camera. Today I took my maiden flight and followed the steps in your episode 11. It was at the sports park off Trim road. I found it long before I found you. Today there was a light breeze with no one around. I don’t own a 3S battery as you recommended. I was using a 4S 1100mAh 60C battery. I got as far at the Sill Set 2, hover, land, disarm. I was not using the DJI goggles. I armed the drone then slowly applied some throttle. it lifted slightly above the landing pad and began to move backwards. I was not applying any pitch. I assume it was from the slight breeze. This is when the trouble started. I applied some forward pitch and mowed some grass. Hit the kill switch. I repeated this again but this time added a fraction more throttle and up the drone went, 15 feet easy and it was moving backward. I applied some forward pitch and the drone lost altitude so I tried to correct for that. I was moving the throttle and pitch and roll slightly and over corrected. Crashed. I tried and tried and tried and this is as far as I got. I bought in Angle mode it would be sort of like flying my Mini 2 but with out all the GPS help. Not even close. I have learned that the kill switch is my friend. How much of a difference will a 3S battery make. I am thinking about a LiPo 1300mAh 45’ish C rating Battery. I am hoping that this will make flying manageable. Will it slow things down considerably?
3S battery will make a big difference as the drone will have less power. Keep practicing (simulators are also a great idea). Everyone in the FPV hobby all began the same way and we all know that if you previously flew camera drones (like DJI Drones) you have an even harder hill to climb since you have to lose plenty of bad habits and train your hand eye coordination to be very quick.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I bought two LiPo 1300mAh 45C rating batteries and tried them today at Trim Road fields. What a difference from the 4S!!!!! I forgot to bring a couple of pylons to do you third exercise from Episode 11. I was able to fly for 10s of seconds in Angle mode before putting the drone into the ground. Near the end I was up to maybe a minute. What an amazing difference. Your suggestion worked. Thank you. I was flying VLOS today. I did not have the control I wanted but I was able to stay within the confines of one soccer field. I was amazed when using the YAW and roll together how fast the drone changed direction. Instantly. Only when I got close to trees or a soccer net and was not sure how close I was or the exact direction I was flying in did I hit the kill switch. In your review for the GEPRC Crocodile Baby 5 did you said it was tough. Except for a few grass clippings the drone showed no signs of any abuse. After using up one battery I was tired and called it a day. All smiles though. I have a long way to go but I see that with practice it will be doable. Thanks for all of your help.
@@bellis7077 Great to hear! It is very difficult to keep an FPV drone in a semi-hover position line of sight, so if you managed for a minute, you're doing great. Amazingly you may find flying with goggles even easier. If ever you had to Millennium and no one is on the jogging track, that is the place to practice with goggles (early in the morning is best when no one is around... Hi Capt. Just finished all 11 videos, I can’t thank you enough for all that inspirational information. You really laid it all out so smoothly and understandable for the novice pilots out there like me. It may take me awhile but I’m definitely wanting to go DJI. Would have never figured out the difference between the analog and digital, along with all the other important information that you talked about. Really professional tutorials in all aspects. I cannot thank you enough for the great work. I am just getting into this as a hobby, and appreciate the effort and quality of ALL your presentations. They are way above the others I’ve looked into. I am also going to take your advice on storing batteries in metal containers. Since I am new at this, I figure I will be able to put all the empty tin bandaid boxes to good use...
Great series if videos captain! I've been flying rc planes for a couple of months, there are always a couple dudes flying fpv drones at the fields, looks pretty fun. I got liftoff sim, flying these is a real challenge, it's amazing what you can do with some practice though! Thanks for all the great info, and your hard work putting these videos together, I really appreciate it.
Awesome series, great job! I disagree on using Chanel search to set your channel though. Those things aren't reliable, half the time they find a neighboring channel, and it all looks good when the quad is 5 feet away but as soon as you get any distance you lose signal. Know what channel your vtx is on and set it manually in the goggles, it's the only way to be sure you're on the right channel
Great series captain. Followed them all. Keep up the great work. You are definitely a big help to the whole community. Thank you so much for your hard work and time you put into these videos. Much appreciated captain
Probably should of watched this first , killswitch is the one to learn for sure . Still not much goggle time need a bigger place to practice. Few crashless flights as well recently. :) oh n got the t shirt super fast thanks .
I love all these videos, there were so helpful thank you, I fly DJI but always wanted to fly fpv. Think I’ll get the iflight dc2 or maybe the dc5.thank you again.
100% hit the PC sims before hitting the real deal!! I’d say at least 10 hours to get really used to it. And even on days where you can’t fly outside, hit the sims! Liftoff and Uncrashed are my choices!! Think I did around 20 hours before I went outside!
Thanks for the tutorial. I am sure it was a lot of effort for you to create but I found it very helpful. I'm just getting into drones and had my first flight with a photo drone yesterday. Not sure I'm ready for FPV at the moment but hope to in the future. Thanks again!
Amazing videos Captain, the entire series for beginners is absolutely educational, but definitely this series need also a video about how to do some moves like for example how to dive, I mean, what's the position of joyticks, if you have to go faster or slow and stuff like that, I don't know if it will be too much 🤣 but it will be interesting. Thank you for this content, best regard!
Thank you very much for the videos, I love your channel, I was struggling to find a channel with all the information, and I finally found, I really appreciate every single video that you made to make our beginner FPV life easy. 😃😃😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video. Easy to follow instructions. I think I'll need more practice with a camera drone before I jump off the FPV cliff.. Thanks for sharing. peAce
I've loved this series of videos!! Thanks so much! My problem now is how to get all the equipment I need to start flying FPV without breaking the bank! Was originally looking at a camera drone, but your FPV videos have changed my mind.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you. I'm assuming it may take me a while to get everything, and don't really want to break it at the first outing, so bought a cheap toy drone just to try to get used to the joysticks and get a feel for the controls. Once I feel more confident, I'm planning on getting the rest. There are SO MANY options!! :)
They have some camera drones that won’t break the bank and you can get good valuable time just flying not even worrying about the camera that’s how I got started and hours of captain drone videos. LoL
Great video very easy to understand can't wait antill Monday when I get my first fpv drone after watching the whole 11 episodes I do think I should have bought a smaller drone instead of going for the emax hawk pro 6s as my first drone lol. But I'm sure I'll be ok. Thanks captain drone excellent series ♥️👊
Very very nice video. Thank you so much for this video Captain. I just got my first FPV drone, it is an Eachine & AtomRC Auk. In my first fly, I can see video on the goggle but after crashed a couple time now I can’t see video on the goggle. I don’t know what should I do now. Would you have any ideas with that issue? Please let me know that you so much.
If you chopped off or broke the antenna coming out of your drone, then you killed the video. If you changed BAND or CHANNEL on your drone or on your GOGGLES then you'll see no video.
I think some of the good whoop racers use a flight mode similar to angles mode where the roll axis is in angle mode, but the pitch axis is acro mode. Just a little fun fact I heard from Joshua B. ( :
Hello Capitan Drone first I would like to say thank you for this series it's truly great and I envy your talents. If I didn't come across your videos I would've never wanted to indulge into the FPV world now I can't wait thanks to you. I have pretty much mastered flying the station wagon of drones lol now it's time for a Ferrari. My question, you said for a beginner quad to start with something on the smaller side how do you feel about my first quad being a toothpick or is that to small? Thanks for any answer it will be appreciated.
Rick Britton, Excellent Review, you doing a amazing job teaching, Thank you, as I always say ,your the KING at helping people get started,Thank you CAPTAIN DRONE. Sincerely Rick from Mo and God bless you and your family
Thanks for the eps I watched em all. Great stuff thanks for the hard work and dedication. Hopefully we can fly some time in the future as we live in the same area.
CAPTAIN DRONE Hi Steve, I’ve got a question for you. I’m trying to order the Emax Hawk Pro but I have 2 choices and I have no idea what these are. They say BNF or PnP. What do these mean and what should I order please?. Cheers bud. Andy in the uk.
@@monkeyfpv7866 If they are following the normal RC rules.... BNF means BIND AND FLY, which means you own a RADIO that is compatible with the receiver in the drone and just have to Bind it. PNP means PLUG and PLAY, which means you have to add a RECEIVER to the drone and then Bind it to your radio. So if you have a RADIOMASTER, TARANNIS or JUMPER T18 RADIO, you could go with BNF and watch episode 9 of the FPV FOR BEGINNERS series.... and select D8 vice D16 when you go to bind.
10:00 ... Since you must place all the switches away from you... would it not be safer for new flywers to have the DISARM switch position at the default (away from you) position and the ARM position by pulling the switch towards you. This way the motors are default DISARMED when you turn on the Radio.
It is 100% a personal choice. In episode #9 in setting up switches I explain that the switch can be set in the position that is preferred by the pilot.
Hi, Steve. I just binged watched the entire series and can't thank you enough for putting this together. You deserve A LOT more views than these have. I am going from a camera drone to the digital drones due to your videos. Considering this series was 2 years ago, is there a digital drone that you would recommend now that is different that what you recommended in video 3? I also have the DJI FPV drone, so not a complete noob. Thank you once again, you are amazing!
Almost all FPV drones are digital today so you have lots to choose from in any size or style. The little EMAX Babyhawk II HD is a nice simple drone to fly. th-cam.com/video/mZaYopXrN1M/w-d-xo.html
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you for the response, Captain! I ended up getting the iFlight Nazgul Evoque F5X 6S which means I am probably in over my head, but I will ease into it. Keep up the GREAT work!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yes, I ordered some 4s batteries which is one thing I learned when I watched (twice) this amazing series called, " FPV For Beginners." :)
This video was very important, to a novic like myself, i will start with the Tinyhawk, and practice, after watching your videos I tend to pick a digital FPV, mainly because of the video quality! Thanks Steve. BTW is the Radiomaster radio equal to the Jumper radio?
One question Captain Steve : can you invert the two sticks? I'm used to pilot my DJI drones this way (I'm a long time gamer and it's easier for my brain hehe)
I did my first flight with the protek35, and it is clearly too powerful for me. I was using a 1300 mAh 6s 120 c battery, so I need a less powerful battery, what is the minimum battery I could use and still fly, will perhaps a 850 mAh 2s 50c? Is there anything I can do in Betaflight to detune it and make it more tame? Or do you think I'm just over my head and need to go to Tinyhawk. I've spent a lot of time in Liftoff. BTW the blade protector broke first flight, so I'd say the criticism that they're underbuilt is correct. Duct taped it.
In the world of FPV pilots, all of us began with great expectations and the wrong skills, and we all destroyed our drones learning to fly. Flying an FPV drone is one of the most difficult things you’ll ever do in the RC world. It took me a good 3 months of practice before I could fly without crashing. Now I make it look easy. Just like learning how to play the guitar musically well, practice is what is needed to fly FPV drones. Once you get your brain, eyes and hands in sync all will be well and you’ll get the greatest reward feeling. Don’t mess with Betaflight settings, you’ll only make things worse. You could run a 4s battery on it and that would calm it a bit. You can also practice some of the skills I show in episode 11 of my vid series: CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS
I’m trying to learn on a moblite 7 . I know there’s no GPS hold for altitude, but why are these things so darn hard to keep going level while you’re flying them? Just a little tiny touch of the throttle and they rise up and then you have to give it the opposite and they come back down again it’s very hard to keep a constant level flight
In the FPV world there is no such thing as BEGINNER MODE. In drones like DJI Drones, Autel Drones, etc, which are CAMERA DRONES, those are all called BEGINNER Drones because zero skill is required from the pilot the drone does it all, which is perfect when you wish to film a non moving object or an object going in a straight line. For everything else you need to be able to fly like a BIRD, and only the FPV hobby permits this, which is one the pilot has FULL CONTROL of the drone. Practice makes perfect.
For Steve's recomendations on this video its the best and great! But for my recomendations Start with a cheap toy drone and buy an wifi box googles it can get you started easily and when you master it jump to the next level!!
Love Youre video’s 💪👌🏽 ceep going

Those things aren't reliable, half the time they find a neighboring channel, and it all looks good when the quad is 5 feet away but as soon as you get any distance you lose signal. Know what channel your vtx is on and set it manually in the goggles, it's the only way to be sure you're on the right channel
Great series of videos and tutorials Steve.
Glad you like them!
Thank you Steve. This has been a great series.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great series captain. Followed them all. Keep up the great work. You are definitely a big help to the whole community. Thank you so much for your hard work and time you put into these videos. Much appreciated captain
Much appreciated!
Fantastic job on a needful beginner’s series. 😎👍👍
Thank you kindly!
Absolutely amazing great to watch and learn the digital system looks fantastic.
100% hit the PC sims before hitting the real deal!! I’d say at least 10 hours to get really used to it. And even on days where you can’t fly outside, hit the sims!
Liftoff and Uncrashed are my choices!! Think I did around 20 hours before I went outside!
Good morning Friend you are a great teacher, thanks for the explanations, I loved it 👌 👌 👌 👌 👌
Thanks for the tutorial. I am sure it was a lot of effort for you to create but I found it very helpful. I'm just getting into drones and had my first flight with a photo drone yesterday. Not sure I'm ready for FPV at the moment but hope to in the future. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the comments.
Thank you very much for the videos, I love your channel, I was struggling to find a channel with all the information, and I finally found, I really appreciate every single video that you made to make our beginner FPV life easy. 😃😃😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad to help! The FPV hobby has a bit of a learning curve, but once you have the basics, you'll quickly figure things out and become a pro.
You buy the equipment one piece at a time and based on your budget.
LoL
Hello captain, do you plan to organise a FPV event with your subscribers at the end of the serie ?
That would be cool, but I have no plans for this.
I appreciate you takeing time to make this series. It was really good, and definately informative..
really good series, cheers from Mexico
Great video very easy to understand can't wait antill Monday when I get my first fpv drone after watching the whole 11 episodes I do think I should have bought a smaller drone instead of going for the emax hawk pro 6s as my first drone lol. But I'm sure I'll be ok. Thanks captain drone excellent series ♥️👊
Brilliant Steve
Very very nice video. Thank you so much for this video Captain. I just got my first FPV drone, it is an Eachine & AtomRC Auk. In my first fly, I can see video on the goggle but after crashed a couple time now I can’t see video on the goggle. I don’t know what should I do now. Would you have any ideas with that issue? Please let me know that you so much.
If you chopped off or broke the antenna coming out of your drone, then you killed the video. If you changed BAND or CHANNEL on your drone or on your GOGGLES then you'll see no video.
I LOVE the intro 👌 ! Can't wait to see the next video.
I just got the 6s nazgul5hd W. 10 4s lipos
Love flying
Epic series Steve ! Still learning new stuff while waiting for my quad to arrive 😉
Great to hear!
amazing video
Quite the long video. Must have taken forever to edit. Even though I am not into this type of drone. I still want to thank you for the series. 😎👍
Thanks again!
Thanks for the tips & tricks Steve 👍🏻 Very instructional, as always 😎
Happy to help
Awesome awesome awesome I’m addicted for real!!!
Wow I see all the work involved in the epic Intro. Awesome work
Thanks a ton!
I think some of the good whoop racers use a flight mode similar to angles mode where the roll axis is in angle mode, but the pitch axis is acro mode. Just a little fun fact I heard from Joshua B. ( :
I think that's horrizon
Hi bro when are you going to review walkers vitus 320 . You're always doing great things. Be blessed bro. Greeting from the Gold coast (Ghana)
Another great video!!! Love your content and your advice.
Thanks so much!
Great video Steve! 😉👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello Capitan Drone first I would like to say thank you for this series it's truly great and I envy your talents.
Hey captain drone im in love with your content very good videos . Can you make a video about choosing antenas for fpv drone and the googles
Maybe in a future episode
CAPTAIN DRONE yes please and thanks from now 🥳❤️
The video help me a whole lot to fly fpv drone for the first time thank you for sending me to the video
Thank for watching!
Thank you your videos always help me out
That intro was created to make a novice drone flyer very jealous. Haha
Rick Britton, Excellent Review, you doing a amazing job teaching, Thank you, as I always say ,your the KING at helping people get started,Thank you CAPTAIN DRONE. Sincerely Rick from Mo and God bless you and your family
I appreciate that!
Very helpful video!
Thanks for the eps I watched em all. Great stuff thanks for the hard work and dedication. Hopefully we can fly some time in the future as we live in the same area.
Thank you
Thanks for sharing 🙏
Still struggling through simulation 😓😓
Another brilliant demo Steve... trying to find a jumper T18Pro and a Hawk Pro is a nightmare. Everyone seems to sell out so quickly.
Get yourself the RADIOMASTER TX16S. (much cheaper and almost exactly the same).
CAPTAIN DRONE t
Thanks for the heads up Steve, I will take a look at one. Does it have sound also. I find that an important gimmick with its reminders.
CAPTAIN DRONE
Hi Steve, I’ve got a question for you.
Perfect series :-)
Thank you!
@@JDubsPub you can tame it by running a 4s or 5s battery instead of a 6s
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yes, I ordered some 4s batteries which is one thing I learned when I watched (twice) this amazing series called, " FPV For Beginners." :)
Hello Steve!
Plz can you make a video on comparison of jjrc drones?
hi, thank you for the video! you are the best!!
Dang it I bought two 7" quads. I do have rc helicopter time and 50+ hours of DJI time. Do I need to start smaller?
thanks for the tips capn!
Thank you for another Awesome video! Was this last episode in the series?
Oh, I'm sure there will be a few more over time.
This video was very important, to a novic like myself, i will start with the Tinyhawk, and practice, after watching your videos I tend to pick a digital FPV, mainly because of the video quality! Thanks Steve.
BTW is the Radiomaster radio equal to the Jumper radio?
Radiomaster is great. Watch Wednesday video.
One question Captain Steve : can you invert the two sticks? I'm used to pilot my DJI drones this way (I'm a long time gamer and it's easier for my brain hehe)
In the FPV world the answer is yes.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 On DJI Cinematic Drone Controller also. It's Mode 3 :)
captain drone can you please review the new eachine ex5 ??
I am new and I’m looking at buying the DJI fpv system I want to learn to freestyle and would the DJI system be good for this ?
Hi Steve what do you think to the googles you can purchase for the DJI drone like the Mini or Mavic Air 2 and Air 2s in FPV.
You mean those silly looking star wars storm trooper goggles? If so, they are not any good for the FPV hobby.
But for my recomendations
Start with a cheap toy drone and buy an wifi box googles it can get you started easily and when you master it jump to the next level!!
Amazing
