  • Hey Guys, Pulkit this side from Gadget Generations, today we will talk about Kotori Audio. Based out of Singapore, the brand focuses primarily on developing high-level-sounding products mainly in-ear monitors and upgrade cables at affordable prices. Currently, Kotori Audio has two IEMs in the market, Dauntless which is a single dynamic driver IEM featuring a 10mm dynamic driver on each side, and the other is Vampire, which is a single BA set. I happened to have both the sets in my possession for the past 10 days, and I have been listening to them properly to share a proper judgement with you guys.
Here's a link to their website:-

Before I begin, I would like to thank the Audio Geek Community in India, they are organizing the tour for these two products. Rest assured, all the impressions and comments in today’s video are my own and based on my own usage of the set with no influence from anyone.
I will first talk about the Single BA Marvel, the Kotori Audio Vampire. I personally love when brands play around with a single driver and deliver good sound as well. Retailing for 99$, the product is currently available on pre-order. Vampire uses Knowles full-frequency BA driver combined with a specially designed acoustic chamber by Kotori Audio. Vampire is an IEM that has been developed with a lot of passion and love, after all getting a full frequency response range from a single BA driver is a huge task. As mentioned earlier, Kotori has developed an optimised acoustic chamber to achieve their desired tuning with the set.
In terms of design and fit, the pair is tiny and lightweight. The entire shell is made of resin material and features a classy face cover. Each face cover has a unique texture, with blood red colour filling they look really unique and beautiful. On the left side, we have Vampire logo, and on the right, we have the Kotori Audio logo. The pair fits quite nicely, and isolates me properly as well. With its small design, the pair literally disappears into my ears.
The pair has a high impedance of 50Ω with 100dB sensitivity, I faced no issues in driving this set. But like I always mention, better sources result in better sound. So, During my usage, I have used this setup with ROSESELSA RS9039 DAC/AMP, Questyle M15i DAC/AMP, Cayin N3 Ultra Portable DAP, and xDuoo XD05 Pro High-End DAC/AMP. I faced no issues with any, even the portable USB DACs were able to drive her quite nicely.
Talking about the sound quality part, The Vampire packs a charming sound personality. The pair sounds phenomenal in terms of bass and midrange sections. For a single BA, the bass is commendable, it is quick, precise, and has a good punch to it. I won’t say it is very extended, but you can feel the rumble in the sub-bass section quite nicely. And the Bass region is controlled tightly as well, it doesn’t come out and affect the midrange by any means. The midrange is one of the charming aspects of the pair. The timbre, the tonality, and the overall performance of Vampire in the midrange section is natural and lively. Vocals sound full of life, and has that charming presentation. Treble has a really smooth and clean presentation. It is not very extended, but I find the pair to be quite open and dynamic. There’s no congestion even for busy tracks. Soundstage-wise, the pair offers an immersive presentation. It is decently wide and has good depth to the stage as well. Overall, a pretty solid performer that packs a dynamic and lively sound. I am amazed by this set because Kotori audio has such a clean and crisp sound with solid bass, and natural tone, all this with a single BA driver, and that is really commendable.
Now on to the next pair, the Kotori Audio Dauntless. TBH, I gave most of my time to the Vampire because that Single BA setup is intriguing and really captivating. But Dauntless, I spent like the past two days to judge this one.
Again, driveability is no issue for me, I used the same setup that I used with the Vampire and had no issues at all. Midrange again on the Dauntless is as charming as it can get. We have excellent vocals, although Vampire has a bit better body for vocals. We have cleaner and slightly more refined treble extensions here. Lower-end has more emphasis on the sub-bass but still manages to deliver weighted mid-bass. Overall, a clean and smooth-sounding single DD IEM with a slight focus on the midrange is the tuning of the Dauntless. It sounds safe and completely inoffensive, yet packs a decent bit for an enjoyable session of music. I would say a good set for people looking to enter into the hobby!!
