iBasso DX180 Audio Player Review: New Mid-Fi King??
Hello Friends,
Today We are going to talk about the latest mid-segment music player from iBasso, the DX180. Priced at $529, the device comes with a quad DAC design featuring four CS43131 DAC chips. It is a loaded device that has FPGA Architecture 2.0, dual independent NDK oscillators, supporting native DSD and PCM audio signal decoding. The DX180 also has a strong output power rating of 690mW from the balanced 4.4mm output port. I have received this sample directly from iBasso. This has arrived here in India for a review tour of Audio Geek Community. I would like to thank both iBasso and Audio Geek community for allowing me to use the device for a week and share this video review with you guys!! The unit has been forwarded to them for further reviews by other audiophiles in India.

iBasso DX180 sounds quite fantastic. It is clean, transparent, and has a slight bit of added punch in the low frequencies that give it a slightly warmer touch. It is not warm or overly bassy by any means, just a pinch of push in the lower-region and apart from that we have a clean and transparent signature throughout the band. It is quite good to see that the player maintains full clarity even with sensitive IEMs such as the Nostalgia Audio Camelot. There is no noticeable background noise with this sensitive IEM, I use these at like 20/100 volume on high-gain mode.
Another thing to praise about the DX180 would be its dynamic range. The player provides clear extensions on both ends of the frequency range, the bass reaches deep into the sub-bass region and the treble is open and airy as well. The image of the sound is a little closer to the listener. The overall presentation has an open feel to the sound. The DX180 allows the connected IEMs to open up and provide good sound.
I feel for a player, clear and crisp output is must, and the DX180 handles that with ease. For me, the DX180 is quite a good sounding device for the asking price. Only takeaway would be I would love some extra juice, i mean some extra output power would have made this my perfect device.
Check out my complete review for my full take. I hope you guys enjoy this video review, for any further assistance or queries, feel free to ask me in the comments section below.

Hi Pulkit, Been waiting for so long for this…unfortunately none of the Indian retailers carry it yet…enjoy your purchase, does hifigo take care of the import charges ? If not any idea how much we need to pay…

Good video pulkit
Thank You!!
Whats the point of this? Normal thin and light smartphones have better battery life than this even with bright 2k displays, internet, gaming, camera, etc. While this fat chunk struggles to play music for 12 hours with screen off. Its not impressive. DAPs feel like snake oil at best. Even big reviewers like Jays Audio, Gizaudio, Crinacle still use the apple dongle.
Everybody has their own preferences bro. I myself never use my phone for music because i hate getting notifications in between(and i get a lot of whatsapp, messenger, gmail notifications). So I have always preferred getting a separate device for audio purposes. Yes, I appreciate your point of view as well, that Phones provide better UI experience. But just talking about my personal take here.
@@gadgetgenerationspulkit Paying $500-3000 for just a DAP just to avoid notifications still doesn't make sense. A second phone will be much cheaper. Even the Sony Xperia or Asus Rog phones, which have solid 3.5mm jacks btw, will still be cheaper. Yes, if you are super rich then buying gold headphones will also make sense. The audio resonating with the gold will increase the timbre, the tonality, imaging, resolution, soundstage, texture, details, dynamics, refinement, transparency, slam, and so on. Even $5000 cable will increase audio quality. But as an objective reviewer and for normal audiophiles, do such expensive DAPs make sense? Especially for IEMs which are easy to drive right from a phone.
Well, it depends highly on your use case. what is normal audiophiles as per you though haha. For IEMs that are easy to drive, it depends if the IEM or connected transducer will scale with better signal processing? What does a better dap have irrespective of price? IMO they have better quality components on their audio circuitry than a smartphone. So even if your smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and your IEM is easy to drive, even in that case i would recommend a dap because the better quality components tend to process signal better and provide cleaner and refined output. for simple understanding, you can play GTA V on a PC with low-end graphics card and get decent FPS in FHD mode, but now if you want to play in 4K at ultra graphics, you need a better gpu. Like I said in my previous reply, use of DAP is depends highly on yours use case and also preferences. I know of friends who use their smartphones with DAC/AMPs and are very happy with it, I personally prefer using a DAP only. This month only I bought Shanling Overture XM5, and now planning to go for another one as I need two different flavours in my source chains and most of my use case is portable. Lastly, I would only add this, yes better sources even with an IEM that is easy to power can benefit it.
Also sorry for my late reply bro, I was just chilling on the sunday and missed my notifications haha.
Thanks for this video, i was waiting for your review on dx180 🔥🔥
Thanks man, this is a stunning device.
Beautiful Thumbnail Pulkit bhai. I was also planning to buy this music player. Thanks for your review.
Thank You!!
Hello Pulkit bhai, I'm confused between Dita Audio Project M and Elysian Acoustic Labs Pilgrim. 1) From your own perspective and personal opinion which one would you prefer among these and only for the sound quality? 2) And how are they against each other comfort wise ? Are they at somewhat same level (19-20 ka fark) or would you completely prefer one over another ? 3) Currently i own Sennheiser ie200 and Aful Magicone. So what would you suggest for me among these iems and what would you personally recommend for me if you had to choose other than these two iems considering the following factors, i have noted down below. I use Magicone for listening to Ghazals, Qawwalis and Bollywood Songs from different generations due to better vocal clarity and smooth treble with kinda decent bass and overall balanced frequencies. And as for Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap and sometimes Heavy Metal i use ie200. Although i like the V shaped sound signature on these and overall I'm quite happy with it and its bass (but wouldn't mind a bit more rumble though). But sometimes i feel that treble should have been just a tiny tiny bit toned down especially in heavy metal tracks and mid is little bit more recessed as per my taste. Wished , it had a little bit more forward Mids but that's not a huge problem for me.
Hello bro, both the Project M and Dyna Quattro sound different. They both sound fantastic by the way, but the Dyna Quattro has more bass, more speed, and engagement factor. Project M has a neutral sound presentation with a focus on more details. The Dyna Quattro staging is a little intimate, while Project M has bigger stage. Both take good amount of power to sound their best. You can choose the one that is more to your preferences. Thank You
Hey! Currently in Delhi right now, do you guys have cadenza or something with similar kind of sound to the wan’er sg (I have zero red as well so excluding that) willing to spend about 5-7 k at most, even better if cheaper, and some amp with lighting adapter around 2k. Asap reply would be appreciated,as I have to leave in a few days and wanna know if I can demo it in the shop.
Sorry for my late reply mate, I have been facing some health issues in my family so was not very active here on TH-cam. I am not a store bro where i have different stuff hehe. Cadenza i tried a friends unit, so I no longer have it. Around 5-7k the Hexa is a good option, so are EA500(OG) and DUNU Titan S2 are(S2 is not launched here in India as of now, but if you want to listen to it, I have it and I live in delhi so.
Please review Kinera celest wyvern abyss.
@@snbk97 sure man, I have it will cover it soon
My impressions of Wyvern Abyss: Please note that this is from the perspective that it’s a $30 IEM. The bass is powerful and textured, making it perfect for genres like rock, hip-hop, and electronic music. The midrange is forward and musical, providing rich vocals and an engaging listening experience. The treble is smooth and clear, avoiding sibilance and ensuring fatigue-free listening during extended sessions. The soundstage is spacious for its price range, allowing for clear instrument separation and decent imaging, though not highly holographic. Clarity and detail retrieval are impressive, with instruments being distinct and well-defined. The build quality is solid, with a comfortable fit and an eye-catching dragon wings design. However, the stock cable and eartips could be better, but these can be easily upgraded. Overall, the Wyvern Abyss delivers excellent value with its fun and engaging sound signature.
You're very underrated. Good review 👍 Please lower thr bgm a bit tho. You're articulate and provide good review , i would say ditch the bgm.
Thank you for your kind words my friend. Means a lot to me. yes I will work on adjusting the BGM in future videos.

Quality Content !! I heard this iem for a brief moment and was really surprised with the imaging and sense of space it delivered
haha glad that you liked it as well bro.
Great review. Do you think the Moondrop Dawn Pro, Tanchjim Space, or Fiio KA13 are enough to drive these?
hmmmmm KA13 is powerful right? I used to enjoy these with my Cayin N7 as well recently it had 500mW Class A output.
Which one is better this or the cadenza 4?
Cadenza 4 offers a different signature. it is more neutral and slightly leaner especially in the lower-end.
Mujhe khaane se matlab hai gaane bad me sun lenge
hahahahaha
Interesting pair of iems. Love the thumbnail
Thanks bro!!
People are comparing it with $1000 IEMs
Yeah, it sounds quite good. Although I won't compare with good sounding 1000$ IEMs hehe.
How does a segment best $300-500 open back compare to a closed back and IEMs like Simgot EM10 or Project Jay. For instance, Focal Azurys vs Simgot EM10 or IO Volare
I have no experience with EM10 or Azurys bro. IO Volare i own can comment on that. If segment best 300-500$ headphone we are comparing with a similarly priced IEM, then i would say HP will give better presentation. bigger driver, open back design, and then a dedicated chain for that headphone will definitely help.
Exciting configuration
