That is great and awesome on harvesting an elk this season! Added bonus that it was fairly close to the road too!! I use the back of my tacoma as a tent to, much smaller but works.
You just videoed every hunter’s bucket list. They just don’t realize how much hard work is required. Congrats man on doing what most men dream of but find every excuse why they can’t.
Really enjoyed this story! Congrats on the harvest and way to stick with it! I regret cutting my hunt short one day last season, due to a rainstorm and a bad blister. But we learn and go back! Well done.
I really enjoyed your hunt and content, congratulations on a dandy bull and a hell of a hunt. I'm looking forward to seeing more of you in the future!!!
I am going out to Colorado next September to do OTC archery elk. I'm not sure exactly where, but I'm thinking up by Steamboat Springs. I've hunted rifle in Pagosa Springs CO in 21 and 22. Archery season is warmer. Got snowed out both years. Not fun.
Steamboat Springs is part of the Bear’s Ears elk herd, that herd took a beating from the insane winter last year (approximately 50% cow survival and 10-20% calf survival). The woods were unbelievably quiet this past hunting season, not a lot of people finding animals outside of a few here and there. It’s going to take several years for that herd to start recovering so I don’t know that I would have that area (NW Colorado) as my top choice for an OTC hunt for a little while
Well reading the other comments, I'm very surprised. Nobody commented on how much your language needs improved. Good hunt! Congratulations! Kind of odd to thank God and then turn around and cuss up a storm
I came here to say the same thing, glad someone else shares the sentiment. When you cuss throughout normal convo it just makes you look uneducated and crass. I miss the days where men had enough self respect not to cuss in public or mixed company. Along with thanking God, he prob also laments on where our culture has gone astray, but doesn’t have the self control to bridle his tongue. Do better dude, be a gentleman and a savage. I digress.
What a way to end the trip !! Dude, isn’t it crazy how quickly things can change..on your way out , to killing a Bull and completely changing everything!! Congratulations man, awesome stuff!!
Yep, had my doubts but stayed determined! Proof it only takes one and it can happen at any time. Pretty sure the big guy upstairs was looking out as well!
Ol bull laying there looking like a pin cushion lol. Just kidding man this was a great video. I can't imagine how long it took you to pack that dude out by yourself. I'm going to GMU 53 this year for archery season, see how she goes.
I was able to take my first first elk this year too, also in Colorado. I hunt by myself too and after 4yrs of trying and countless miles on foot, 22hr drive each way and a total of around 12,000 mile on my truck over the 4yrs, having to deal with the altitude and all the time alone then to have it come together can’t describe the emotion I felt when I watch that bull drop. Congratulations!
Congrats, thanks for sharing. Just a suggestion. Rule of thumb for filming, especially long form like you did here, ALWAYS film horizontal, not vertical. It is a much more immersive experience for the viewer. All the best.
Elk hunting can physically and mentally kick your ass!! You had a great attitude of never quit and it paid off! Congrats
Hell yea man. Doing a DIY and being by yerself is hard enough let alone killing and packing. What a trip!!!
Awesome man!
Congrats on the bull man! I really loved watching your video. I definitely like your style, you’re just real and very authentic!!🤟
