I have owned two cummins nissans and upgraded to the platinum reserve which i daily drive. These are great trucks. Built in tool boxes in bed, built in goose neck hitch. Engine braking works awesome since i tow 11 pound trailer. Only complaint was fuel tank is only 27 gallons. Ordered a 50 gallon tank from titan out of idaho. Now i can go 600 miles at least between fillups.
Greetings Mike! Of the trucks you mention/review, I would suggest great caution in approaching the Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve. Its drivetrain is an orphan, and at least in our area in far Southern Illinois, it is very difficult to find a dealer with a technician with diesel credentials to make repairs that will keep the extended Nissan warranties in effect. We have three Nissan dealers within 60 miles, and the last time that the 2017 Titan XD Platinum Reserve Diesel (35,000 miles) that my best friend owns needed service we only had one with a qualified diesel service technician, and then it was a waiting game for the needed diesel parts (turbo charger and related components) that were being replaced for the third time since he purchased the truck new in August of 2017. The Cummins Turbo Diesel utilized by Nissan has been discontinued for at least two years now, and it seems like many of the smaller Nissan dealers no longer have qualified diesel technicians, and there are major hurdles to overcome if trying to obtaining warranty work if any of the prior maintenance/repairs were handled outside of a Nissan dealership. It seems that these trucks are either Very Good or Very BAD with very few between. My friend babies his, and it has spent more time in the shop than any vehicle purchased new that I have encountered.
Mike, that being a biohazard truck, you shouldn't have been fingering everything in it. I hope you had a ton of hand sanitizer, and man, I'd worry about sitting in that seat.
The Triton v10 had a head problem in the early years. They would shear the header bolts off. They did fix issue a few years later. The Cummings truck is a beast. I suspect it had a bull guard on the front.
Great Truck Coverage Mike, I’d Steer Clear Of That Nissan Cummins V-8 Diesel (Lots Of Quality Control Issues, To The Point Cummins Them Selves Deemed It A Bad Power-Train) The Truck It’s Self Had Issues.. The Triton-V-10 Ford Pick-Up, Is A Rusty No, I Think You Agree, The Navistar Built, 7.3L Turbo Diesel (Like That Run-Down Plow-Truck Randy Had) Did Much Better.. Like Randy’s 6.7L Cummins Rams 2500’s, The Ram 3500 6.7L Cummins I-6, Duelly, Best Out Of The Three, I Get They’re Pricey, But What A Great Truck To Have In The Fleet, Real Mans Truck For Sure.. Keep Up The Hard Work Good Sir, Hope You’re Having a Great Final Weekend, Closing Out 2023, Be Well & Safe There Sir..
I have owned 2 cummins nissans with only issue being a soot sensor failure. Most issues on cummins is the same issues ford, gm and ram has which is, people treat them like a car and the scr will eventually plug up. The egr systems now days just ruins engines. The 2016 cummins 5.0l in nissans, motorhomes and other industrial vehicles had a crankshaft manufacturing defect. Those engines were all recalled by cummins and replaced free of charge. 2017 up has no issues. But i will say this as ram guys know, anything cummins will cost money, so if it needs work learn how to do it your self. That soot sensor would have been 1700 at the dealer but i found it for 266, installed it my self in under 15 minutes. The fact dealers and shops charge what they charge to work on vehicles will come back to haunt them in fewer customers.
Nissan are amazing trucks. We have a ‘12 frontier and it is super comfortable. And very reliable it just reached 100,000 miles and it runs amazing. We barely had to put any major money on it for maintenance. A couple of sensors but rest of it is just general wear and tear that any vehicle would have
My favorite would be 6-cyl. Cummins TurboDiesel had a 2001. Ram TDI and got 27mpg with 4,000 lb truck camper in bed or out. Only issue ever was bolts attachto gear shift snapped once (rated for gas engine), At 350,000 miles sold it for $10,000 ex wanted a Toyota p/u yeesh18 mpg.
I know you said that these trucks are more than you need, but look into that Nissan Mikey, it may be a good money maker for you if you decide to fix her up.
Hello Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. The 2001 Ford F250 is a good looking truck even though it's got damage on the drivers door and suspension damage. The 2021 Ram 3500 is a good looking truck. You should put a bid on it Mike.
You couldn't give me that RAM... The Cummins is a great engine, unfortunately the pickup that they put it in is one of the biggest P.O.S ever made... There are some people that don't have endless problems with them, but most do. The wiring and emission system problems are very common, and in most cases they can't fix them. I had three new fully loaded crew cab 4x4's with the Cummins engine, and they all had the same problem. The last one I had barely made it to 30,000 miles and the so called leather seats started literally coming apart. It looked like something you would see in a rig that had 300,000 miles on it.
Hi Mike...Toyota Tacoma? It's a BIG Dodge! Made me laugh... Love your video's...keep them coming!
Buy the Nissan truck
Great video and keep up the great work
Last week in December 🎉😂🎉😂❤

Remember to close the door to conserve power if you're trying to start the truck !😂😂😂
Over exaggeration about the smell smells can be eliminated with a little air freshener but basically I would buy that truck if I had the money😮😮😮😮

MWM, do you pre-view the Copart & IAAI websites and run a Carfax or Car Vertical report before you go hunting for cars?
Nope, that’s too time consuming

I hate to say it but out of the ones you are looking at, I would go with the Nissan, but I couldn't do the baby poop brown interior.
