In the process of replacing mine on my ‘44. Thanks for the tips ! We never learn without making mistakes every now and then!

I see that mistake as a learning or teaching moment.
Relax. You did a good job. 👍
    Nice video, too.

Thanks for that very useful video, as usual. And it was very clever to use an error to explain how to fix it ! Thank you !

Nice to see you make mistakes too ! Even better to see you let other people know about them, we all make mistakes on these things, the skill part is knowing how to get over them, which you did very well. I also found the usual corrosion problems in this area, but as the floor was also corroded and badly dented, I made new panels and replaced them as well, nice to say it is original, but when it is corroded and dented it is not worth saving, better to make new exact copies of the original pattern, then you know it is sound. Even after sand blasting that rust keeps coming back, you then have to strip it all back again.

Hey, thanks for sharing this video. I really appreciate you explaining how to fill the holes (we've all done it!). I'd never heard of a copper welding spoon...Going to get me one of those! I've also got a handful of those specialist plug/spot weld clamps and I've never known what they were for or how to use them. Another thing leant! Every day is a school day! Thanks!

great to see some of the problems with the fuel sending system , some time needs to be tweeked to get it to respond correctly.
my problem with the fuel sending unit,or fuel gage , is that as i put the key in the ignition switch to on, i get a reading on the fuel level in the tank. . as soon as i lite off ,start the engine, the gage goes to full. i've accomplished numerous tests, had gage people tell me that i needed to ground the gage. which i have grounded directly to the battery . to no avail. the sending unit and gage. are maybe two/ three years old . since i've since i have overhauled my 1948 cj- 2 including ,engine ,tranny , gages, speedometer ,starter, voltage regulator, generator , basically 90 percent of the vehicle has been over hauled ,replaced or repaired . only in need of a paint job and fuel gage system repaired . maybe someone in the blog has had the same problem and has effected repairs .pass on the fix.
keep up the great work and having parts for these old relics highly appreciated .

The floor of that tub is terrible. If you are replacing the sump why not the whole floor? It is just going to give you trouble later.
