I used to just enjoy playing smash casually offline but when researching ways to better my skills I found your channel and now I can understand who the top players are, what sets them apart, who to look out for and the sweet objective analysis that helps me further appreciate the game as a sport. Now I find myself actually watching interesting player matchups that this channel shines a light to and then eagerly waiting for your post game comments. The shuton vs zackray finals was exhilarating and made me cry out in excitement no thanks to all the context and past majors the team covered so I could enjoy it fully!! The smash community should be really proud to have such exceptional and hardworking team widen this esport's reach in a light entertaining manner. I wish every sport and esport had a team like PGStats working with them!
The craziest thing about the Bruho vs Mute set was how crazy Mute’s rng was. At some point in Game 3 or 4 (I think) Mute pulled two bombs in a row and Bruho still took the stock first. In game 5 last hit, Mute pulls a stitch and Bruho avoids it by the skin of his teeth while recovering to make it back to stage and win the set
Weird as fuck that with 3 majors in the same weekend to see that Leo didn't win any of them. I'm just so used to see him be the protagonist that it is weird when he takes a break.
Don't forget that cosmos was specifically told (by former player and confirmed predator) nairo to stop throwing out random smash attacks and bam he immediately got 1st. It was good advice but better advice is to not talk to nairo ☺️. Cosmos clearly has the capacity to be a better player and a better person

Your comment on Ultimate Wanted's scoreboard is mistaken. VGBC's stream had a delay between score and match ; the French stream didn't have the score updated until the game was finished. Also didn't talk about Gouillou, an unseeded Piranha Plant player defeating seed18 japanese Shoto main Takera in his 2nd round, which was one of the craziest upsets of the tourney (though he ended up defeated early in top 128)

8:57 I actually disagree with this sentiment. Anathema has shown us that he is by far the most technical ROB player, and the only top level ROB to consistently use double toss gyro confirms. While Zackray may end up getting the best overall placings with ROB if he stays, he's mostly using his incredible fundamentals and understanding of the game rather than innovating with what ROB specifically can do.

Basically, one of the teammate is tired from overworking (yes, most of Japanese esports players are either in high school or have a fulltime job), so he sleeps, knowing that the match is in hours time. Unfortunately, he overslept and missed the match, and they didn't allow for a sub, so Zackray's team is DQ'd for missing the match.

I mean, of the 4 Dutch players in top 32 (Ramses, Supahsemmie, Space, and Mr. R) none of their runs were THAT crazy. Mr. R only made it 1 round farther than seed projections and the other 3 made it 2 rounds farther than their seed projections. Though 4/16 players in top 16 being from the Netherlands is a pretty impressive statistic considering there were zero French players in top 16 of the French tournament.

Are placings due to DQs counted as real placings? Gluto got very sick over night so he had to DQ, but we all know he would of made top 8. Sucks but you cant choose, health is always first. Like if we did this, we'd also have to count DQs in pools due to not attending a major those players were registered to. All Top 10 players (and in general every player) have had those situations in their careers but you know that if they get such insanely low placings, something happened and it wasn't about their performance.
The whole thing about all the PTs having a wolf makes sense. Wolf beats PT from just being better in the matchup into every one of the three pokemon, some from their lenses Wolf is absolutely turbo broken
