I like these more regional breakdowns of character specialists of less popular characters 👍 don’t want the worldwide major coverage to go anywhere, but more of this type of content would be sick!
Plus it gives people who aren't as popular a fair chance to shine. Sometimes hearing about the players growing in skill is better than constantly hearing top 5 player analysis.
Personal take: the voice over focused much more on alternis, even though he’s all but dropped Mac for Terry now. Aside from squads, peanut Solo Mac in every tournament. He has taken sets from Leon, Wadi, SquidPlumber, Riddles, and almost beat MKLeo. He’s beaten Esams Pika in a FT5 friendlies. And when they have fought as Mac dittos, Peanut came out on top pretty much every time. Alternis only beat him as DK to exploit Macs disadvantages. When it comes to who’s the best, it’s subjective. Mac is still bottom 5 at the end of the day. But Peanut embodies that drive to succeed, the drive to win as an underdog at all costs much more. Alternis…gave up Mac for a better chance at success. So between the 2, peanut is a better Little Mac, and probably always will be.
there’s a reason all games w peanut have a significant bump in views. he’s a blast to watch, fun personality, and he’s so chill. always leaning back when he’s playing
Peanut is the top mac simply because he gets his results without backup secondaries. Also the methodical and patient playstyle befits a boxer more than just pure aggression that fits Roy more.
They really did it! Thanks, PG. Glad you guys can show how even bottom-of-the-barrel characters can still roll their way up to the top with a good enough player.
Folks may not realize that Mac's actually been BUFFED, even at launch, relative to Smash 4. His primary flaw in Ultimate is that he's in Safe Aerials: The Videogame--he's more-or-less fundamentally unsuited for this engine. For players like Alternis and Peanut to succeed nonetheless is especially impressive.
I will never get tired of watching Alternis run up from full stage, just full frontal, no tricks or dodges and KO punch anyone. Just like "Deal with it."
IIRC that was in rise and grind back in August. Think this vid is just counting tourneys from early 2022 to July. Still a phenomenal game though and would've been the upset of the fucking century if the nut managed to get that KO Punch in the last stock on game 3. But MKLeo gotta be MKLeo.
@@kimoota-kun maybe the tourneys they covered are older but the MD and VA split PR they referenced is less than a week old, I def think peanut has more notable wins.
I love seeing Mac get more than 0 play, he's a fun character. People greatly undersell his mobility because of his aerial game, but if you just don't get hit and play ground control, his aerials don't matter.
Video focused a bit more on Alternis than Peanut, in my opinion. Both of pretty similar mindsets when it comes to advantage though, exploiting panic options and tendencies. Peanut is just the overall less predictable one, playing games like he is running an experiment. This makes his playstyle very stage dependent, which can hinder him at times. Alternis runs at you like a train, which is scary but can blow up in his face very easily.
10:41 im sure this is what peanut is missing, this is what is holding him down -everyone knows he's using the k.o. punch as a "mental pressure" tool, but when you know that, the fear dissappears -you know he ain't gonna throw him, he ain't Alternis or any other Mac, he wants to keep it for the next stock so you're free to just make him lose it. It's very disheartening to see him lose the k.o. punch to a shield grab or a rapid jab
I’d say that peanut is the better of the two simply because he doesn’t use any secondaries or pockets for his success. He doesn’t have a secondary that’s much better, like Alternis with his Terry.
Peanut imo is definitely the better Mac. Has more consistency in a lot of areas, that's not to knock Alternis either, he's a great player in his own right. Peanut is improving very quickly and it won't be long before he gets Top 8 at a Major soon
@@ONLY_RR7 he just got top 16 at one iirc. He's steadily improving and I believe that soon he will actually get that top 8 run. Also he's thinking about picking up fox or roy in a couple of months so that will definitely increase his odds

@@extonjonas6820 Well for the tournament he won (Throwdown Thursday #85) he mainly used Mac, only going Terry to go 3-2 against BacoN in WF, who went Kazuya and Doc. Won GF with Mac in a 3-1 against Puppeh. Just cause he plays other characters I don't think we can write off his success with Mac, and tbf he might've been able to win that tournament solo mac, but felt Terry was a better matchup.

You Alternis, are a Little Mac player (for those who don't know) Peanut has the right to not respect you in this situation. The fact that you had to do this to beat the best player of your character is fair because it's part of the game, but never expect him to respect you after this. Because he's whooped you multiple times in the Mac ditto and you can't face him, you have to cheese him. Counter picking is of course part of the game, but the truth is that you are now bad representation for his main. You used to be another Mac player, now you cheese the best Mac. You shouldn't be representing Mac at all and I can't blame peanut for the way he acted.

Hello Little Peanut Mac
Peanut got 13th and Alternis got 17th at Glitch Regen, so technically its 3-2.

Alternis…gave up Mac for a better chance at success. So between the 2, peanut is a better Little Mac, and probably always will be.
Alternis played a good chunk of Mac to get top 24 at Glitch a couple weeks ago, and still plays a bunch of Mac in recent tourneys.
LeoN and wadi are from online only, and no he has never beaten riddles
there’s a reason all games w peanut have a significant bump in views. he’s a blast to watch, fun personality, and he’s so chill. always leaning back when he’s playing
That's where we see how well-designed a game is: even the "bad" characters offer unique tools that can be used to take them far.
Then there's Ganondorf.
Peanut is the top mac simply because he gets his results without backup secondaries.
Also the methodical and patient playstyle befits a boxer more than just pure aggression that fits Roy more.

It's crazy to think that both almost beat top 5 players
Alternis not beating Light for a few frames and Peanut almost beating Mkleo (both sets 1-2)
It’s also important to note that Peanut uses a lot more grabs than the normal Mac to put more pressure on shielding against him.
