Wonderful job, as always. Great conversations with the High West people, nice introduction to a friend of yours, and incredible camera shots of the distillery. Looked like a great trip. The way you shoot your videos always brings me back to the old Warren Miller ski films. I love it.
Thank you!!! Okay so I had never heard of Warren Miller. What an absolute legend. That just sent me down a rabbit hole. He really had life figured out. I can’t believe how many ski films he made, truly incredible
@@whiskeylandtv Yeah. Definitely gives my age up being in my late 50s. It was always exciting when he released his annual ski film. All the old ski bums would eat it up.
Another good one. Have never seen anything about High West before. Great that you were able to get some in depth, behind the scenes type of information. Enjoyed it.
Thanks Randy! I had only had the regular bourbon before the visit. I was really blown away by there different expressions. The prisoners share is really good
High West used to be a good story. Now they are good at marketing and have average whiskey. No one talks about their high end stuff anymore. I wish you highlighted a distillery who needed the PR, not one still living on their past. Love the show, keep looking for those guys who do it right.
Hey thanks for the comment and thank you for watching the show! I cant speak to the inner workings of the company as a whole but most of the people we worked with from HW had been there since the beginning and they were really good people. I'll also say that the whiskey I got to try was very good, that is subjective though. Im wondering where the disconnect is with HW specifically because Ive seen a lot of these type of comments which is contrary to what we personally experienced in our few days there. I don't have along history of drinking HW, I had only had there flagship bourbon before this trip, but loved the Prisoners share, loved the Midwinters Dram Encore, and thought the Noble Share was super unique and damn tasty. That being said, I can understand, with prices across the board going up in whiskey, specifically for LE stuff, how the expectation of something and the price of it are linked and can lead to disappointment. I was able to taste things not worrying about that and thats a privilege of doing this show. Lastly, as far as who we are able to cover, we are bootstrapping the show, its just my brother and I, so we have to fund each episode in different ways. We have a wish list and will continue to showcase a range of whiskey brand sizes, and aim to create a more diverse lineup going into 2025. We are going to work out a voting system on our Patreon so we can let the audience decide where we should go next.
“Unique laws” I.e., we’re surrounded by a bunch of people that believed a snake oil salesman found some golden tablets, stuck his head in a hat and transcribe them because only he could read the text. 🙄
@@tbbfilm The problem is not the people who work there. The issue is charging $150+ for bottles of finished MGP. Constellation Brands saw the secondary and decided to just charge secondary prices for their product. I love the Bourye, but I'm not paying $125 for it.
@@WestCoastWhiskeyDude Totally get that. Pricing is a legit concern! For what its worth, they are starting to bring their own Rye into the mix. So thats progress. Still High prices def need to level out.
I’ve felt that over the past few years the High West LEs have fallen flat. They aren’t batched or blended well, and now I can put a face to my disappointment….these videos are very cool though, so thanks for spotlighting distilleries.
I cant compare to the past because Ive only had the standard bourbon until our visit. But I loved the whiskey I got to try. And I really loved the people I met there. They have a stunning location. Thanks for watching! Who do you think has been doing LEs well lately?
@@whiskeylandtv JMHO, but I think 2024 is the year of Beam. numerous age sated, high quality, fairly priced, low gimmick releases. honestly, Im getting tired of all of the shenanigans of the whiskey world. I probably buy more scotch than bourbon at this point because of all the BS. regardless, you are making fantastic content on this channel!
Production value here Is a paragon, in this space. Kudos 🙌🏼🙌🏼🥃🥃👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!!! Trying our best

Good video, but I stopped buying High West a while ago. Constellation Brands really screwed up the brand.
Maybe its time to try again? A lot of very thoughtful left over pre-constellation brand folks still on board.

Thanks for watching! I cant really compare since I haven't knowingly had pre-constellation HW products but everything I had was great
