So is it good or not?
Not great
Working my way through all the videos. This one like the rest is so well done. Very excited to keep watching them all. Cheers y’all
It’s a journey! Thanks for digging into the show. Enjoy! Cheers
It tastes like bananas and smoky
Sure does
It’s the isoamyl acetate
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks man
Way overpriced for what you get. They've done a good job of generating stupid hype for them though.
It’s gooooood tho
@@whiskeylandtv Well if you're still looking for a midwinter night's dram and you live in the midwest, they have pretty much an entire case sitting unsold at Michigan state minimum pricing at Mega Bev in Kalamazoo Michigan. It kind of blew my mind when I saw that no one in Michigan was buying them because I live in Alexandria Virginia and watched grown men running into the local ABC store a week earlier to get one when they did a store drop that I happened to be at (again I don't personally think it's that great, especially at the price point).
No doubt it’s on the expense end of things. I mean you can always just get an ogd114 or a wild turkey 101 and be good for the rest of your life. I’m not much of a standing in line for anything guy so I wouldn’t line up for it. It’s weird how regional certain whiskies popularity is. I think that’s a good reason why the buying whiskey online needs to be solved soon. So people who want whatever they want actually have access to it if they are willing to pay shipping etc
Lots of craft distillers will be going bust in 2025 Small distilleries will be so cheap to buy at the end of 2025....
That’s a bummer if it happens. So many great craft distilleries across the country. They are able to be super creative and push innovation. Naturally not all businesses succeed and in the current climate it’s tough but I hope people doing the right thing are able to survive
“Unique laws” I.e., we’re surrounded by a bunch of people that believed a snake oil salesman found some golden tablets, stuck his head in a hat and transcribe them because only he could read the text. 🙄
You have to love Tara. 🙌🏼🤘🏼
It’s a requirement, she’s amazing!
10 years is bmw lifetime 😂
That’s it?
"Greatest snow on Earth" is our Utah saying 😅 we have a license plate with it
Utah is so fun. We had a blast. The pow was pristine
cheers!
🙏
WHOA BALLS
I have friends that have way more impressive bottles than I do. They can have anything they want in my collection.
haha same for me honestly
Something that doesn’t have a lot of complex lingering flavors. Four Roses or Makers isn’t a bad choice. Love me some Holliday.
I agree. They probably won’t capture those notes at first. Or they might not like the complexity quite yet. Four roses and MM are great choices. Throw in a standard Woodford reserve too
Eagle Rare before it was so damn allocated turned me onto sipping.
It depends. If they are family, anything goes. If its a friend of a friend, if they dont know, I lead them to things they can get first.
Yep, family has an open any bottle freedom. Friends I’ll gauge where they are at and try to guide them to something they’ll like rather than hit them with the coolest thing I have. It’s weird to me that some people don’t drink whiskey like we do so sometimes I feel bad giving someone a pour in a cube or definitely a neat pour.
"...they gave me an entire boxful" ❤
There are perks haha!
Thanks for another great episode!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great interview. Nice to finally hear their origin story. :)
Thank you! Thanks for watching
I always say you can drink some of any of my 🥃 whiskey just don’t drink all of one of my whiskeys
I think that’s the best motto
Barkeep! Whiskey/Waterbi!
hahah
Cleveland Whiskey is AWESOME
Yessir
MSRP is the only way in Ohio. CONTROLLED BY THE STATE
🥃
That bar and stew looked Hardy.
It was!
Hardy as heck
We LOVED having you out with us! Such a great segment, thank you for all you do!
Thank you for having us! You were amazing hosts. Can't wait to visit again. Cheers!
We have dinner there often, it’s a legit establishment.
Its an amazing spot
Ya...dont be my friend if you drink directly from the bottle. Lets have SOME class, gentlemen. No one wants your backwash.
Yeah, only if it's my personal bottle
For the nip rip?
Never can go wrong with a $23 bottle of Old Forester 100 proof. But that 12 year Elijah is tasty
OF 1920 is a good one 🥃
So marry them!
They’re spoken for :(
Andrew in Whiskeyland!! Yessssss. What a gem!
Yessir! Gotta love ‘em
We have a bar here in mid michigan that has MANY high end bottles, been on the shelf for YEARS sitting in the light with dried out corks . Trying any of them is pretty disappointing...🫣😖
Oh bummer!!! That’s a shame
179$? Thats like 5 bottles of Jameson
lol
High West used to be a good story. Now they are good at marketing and have average whiskey. No one talks about their high end stuff anymore. I wish you highlighted a distillery who needed the PR, not one still living on their past. Love the show, keep looking for those guys who do it right.
Hey thanks for the comment and thank you for watching the show! I cant speak to the inner workings of the company as a whole but most of the people we worked with from HW had been there since the beginning and they were really good people. I'll also say that the whiskey I got to try was very good, that is subjective though. Im wondering where the disconnect is with HW specifically because Ive seen a lot of these type of comments which is contrary to what we personally experienced in our few days there. I don't have along history of drinking HW, I had only had there flagship bourbon before this trip, but loved the Prisoners share, loved the Midwinters Dram Encore, and thought the Noble Share was super unique and damn tasty. That being said, I can understand, with prices across the board going up in whiskey, specifically for LE stuff, how the expectation of something and the price of it are linked and can lead to disappointment. I was able to taste things not worrying about that and thats a privilege of doing this show. Lastly, as far as who we are able to cover, we are bootstrapping the show, its just my brother and I, so we have to fund each episode in different ways. We have a wish list and will continue to showcase a range of whiskey brand sizes, and aim to create a more diverse lineup going into 2025. We are going to work out a voting system on our Patreon so we can let the audience decide where we should go next.
Production value here Is a paragon, in this space. Kudos 🙌🏼🙌🏼🥃🥃👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!!! Trying our best
Another amazing video! Keep up the great work guys
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
you gotta crack it open so it can breath and be ready to drink on your Birthday.
that bottle is with the wind now :(
around NYC that stagg regularly goes for as much as $350, best I have ever seen is $149
These secondary market prices stink
Such a great video! Add another distillery to my list of places to visit!
It’s such a beautiful place. You’ll have a great time!
As a lifelong alcoholic I can see this.
Tell me bout it😢😊
stay strong fellas
Another banger of an experience! Always the joy the next release yall do! Merry Christmas to you and your families!
Thanks brother! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Have a great Holiday, have some good whiskey!
Wonderful job, as always. Great conversations with the High West people, nice introduction to a friend of yours, and incredible camera shots of the distillery. Looked like a great trip. The way you shoot your videos always brings me back to the old Warren Miller ski films. I love it.
Thank you!!! Okay so I had never heard of Warren Miller. What an absolute legend. That just sent me down a rabbit hole. He really had life figured out. I can’t believe how many ski films he made, truly incredible
@@whiskeylandtv Yeah. Definitely gives my age up being in my late 50s. It was always exciting when he released his annual ski film. All the old ski bums would eat it up.
Good video, but I stopped buying High West a while ago. Constellation Brands really screwed up the brand.
Maybe its time to try again? A lot of very thoughtful left over pre-constellation brand folks still on board.
@@tbbfilm The problem is not the people who work there. The issue is charging $150+ for bottles of finished MGP. Constellation Brands saw the secondary and decided to just charge secondary prices for their product. I love the Bourye, but I'm not paying $125 for it.
@@WestCoastWhiskeyDude Totally get that. Pricing is a legit concern! For what its worth, they are starting to bring their own Rye into the mix. So thats progress. Still High prices def need to level out.
Thanks for watching! I cant really compare since I haven't knowingly had pre-constellation HW products but everything I had was great
I’ve felt that over the past few years the High West LEs have fallen flat. They aren’t batched or blended well, and now I can put a face to my disappointment….these videos are very cool though, so thanks for spotlighting distilleries.
I cant compare to the past because Ive only had the standard bourbon until our visit. But I loved the whiskey I got to try. And I really loved the people I met there. They have a stunning location. Thanks for watching! Who do you think has been doing LEs well lately?
@@whiskeylandtv JMHO, but I think 2024 is the year of Beam. numerous age sated, high quality, fairly priced, low gimmick releases. honestly, Im getting tired of all of the shenanigans of the whiskey world. I probably buy more scotch than bourbon at this point because of all the BS. regardless, you are making fantastic content on this channel!
Another good one. Have never seen anything about High West before. Great that you were able to get some in depth, behind the scenes type of information. Enjoyed it.
Thanks Randy! I had only had the regular bourbon before the visit. I was really blown away by there different expressions. The prisoners share is really good
This is why I look for fishes when I’m handed someone’s bottle 😂
fishes?
@ small bits of things floating in the bottle 😂
Really digging the close up story with the distilleries
Thanks man, its a lot of fun to make
Enjoyed this video and learning more about High West!
Thanks Nakia!
Keep up the fire content!!! Top notch stuff!!
Thank ya sir!
Yeah, that’s how you don’t get invited back to the next party 😂
No nip rips at your bbqs?
