Thanks to your video I finally got it running I swapped pit bike CDI to quad and it ran then I tried original CDI hooked up with jumper wires that made me realize it was just a connection in the plug I brought all them parts and all I needed was to fix the plug thank you
I want to say, “I love your videos”; however, I’m having a problem with my China quad (2019 Tao Tao Rhino 250). The start button does nothing and I have “no spark”. I purchased a kit containing an Ignition Coil 6 Pin, CDI, Voltage Regulator Rectifier, Solenoid Relay Kit for and a new (sold separately) 5 Function 9 Wire Chinese ATV Left Switch Assembly Kill Start Light Choke Switch for 150cc 200cc 250cc from Amazon (all components fit perfectly). Same result! The only difference… I now have lights (front & rear). Could the problem be the stator? Do they go bad often? Is there a way to test the stator? Unfortunately, I don’t have a wiring diagram nor owners manual (documentation for Chinese quads SUCK). If you have any suggestions on what I should check next, I will greatly appreciate it! What amp do you have your jump pack set? These batteries on the little ATVs are usually a 12v but 4 or 5amp battery. If you are using a jump pack with a higher amperage, you may be even causing more damage.
Hey man I've got a 90cc Chinese quad that I can't figure out. I've changed the cdi, the ignition, the coil, carburetor and hotwired it, checked out the stator, and just can't figure out why it won't work.
The quad I'm working on is a no name brand,they should come with a choke and a on and off fuel knob,I've checked spark now moving onto fuel,draining the fuel and going to use a starter fluid and see if that works! Thanks for the tips.
I have one driving me nuts. Its a dc cdi. I get 128 ohms on pickup coil.gap from pickup coil is .010 , I get .2 volts ac when cranking at cdi connector.12v verified at cdi.grounds all check at .1ohms .no kill switch hooked up. Coil checks at 2 ohms primary 7.5k primary to secondary. Original issue was losing spark and dying. So after troubleshooting figured has to be cdi,ordered casoli dcbox installed still no spark re trouble shot all wiring coil etc.put known good coil no help. Next step was remove machines harness from equation hooked 12v power ground directly to cdi using toggle switch for power.pickup coil from flywheel directly to cdi.Still nothing am I overlooking something or did I just lockout with 2 bad cdi one oem and 1 casoli?
Just got a China quad with a complete wiring mess. I removed all the wiring. I’m going to purchase a whole new ignition system on eBay for 30$ along with a new starter. I took the stator cover off and the bike turns freely and has compression. Do you think I will have any luck with the whole new wiring harness ?
Hey Dyllman! From a theory point of view, U have almost a 100% chance of fixing it with a new wire harness.... Now for reality, I think Ur chances of it starting right up after installing a new harness is about 50/50... If seems that not all the after market harness work straight from the factory and sometimes it takes a while to get the engine, battery, and wire harness all on the same ground.... Hi, I have a spark coming from the bottom of the spark plug , not from the electrode but the base of the plug. Ive tried two different plugs and a new cdi? Any ideas please, thanks
what is that wire running to the back of the frame with the black circle attached to it is that a kill switch if child falls off it?it is attached under the seat on frame
please help Mr. Spooner. i have a motorsports baja dune 150. its got a 150cc but it's not sparking. i replaced stator and wired everything according to how you explain in your videos. i isolated the wiring so that only the CDI and the stator and the coil are linked and made sure all those were grounded to the case and grounded the case to the frame. and to turn over i jumped it from my starter relay. any ideas what my problem could be? any help is greatly appreciated
I have 2 sets of wires coming from my 110 TaoTao but comparing it to the others we have it's not the same. I can't find any diagram that tells me what these other 3 wires are. The wires in question are Red, purple, and a blue with a red stripe. My other wires coming from the engine plugged right into the new harness. Help me please.
I have a 110cc and the casing doesn't have the notch,just a bolt that holds a little metal plate to hold the starter chain,but next to the bolt there's a little gray block which I think it might be the mark for timing, engine # 152FMH Kandi quad 110cc,do you know any sites that I can look up a schematic?
I have a 110cc China atv I have replaced the cdi ,stator ,coil and harness ....out of the stator the black and red is only around 25vac and zip on blue and white I removed the kill switch wire still the same also have checked and added grounds
Hello Harvey, thanks for the video. I have a Chinese quad and to me it seems like the motor has too much compression. It turns a couple of times then stops. I'll click a few times on the start button to get passed the "high compression" then it turns a couple of times I replaced the starter and the battery. Do you have any suggestions?

I replaced the starter, cdi, coil, voltage regulator, starter, relay and stator. It came in a kit. The new stator has 6 poles, after removing the flywheel I see the original has 8. Can I use the original flywheel with the new 6 pole stator? Also, I'm getting a decent spark but sometimes the relay just clicks and the starter won't engage. Even when jumped from a running car. I see you're in MY as am I, which county? Thanks again!
Just asking. I've got spark and it's getting gas. The only thing I've changed is the cdi box. It was running fine before I put a new racing cdi. Did I cause any damage to the system by changing cdi?

Hey Rusty, The pit bike harness and CDI will work with the OEM coil, but, for less then $18, one can get a complete set including the on/off button... What happens if my fuse wire touched the negative on battery cause It made a little cloud of smoke and melted the wire a little bit. I Hooked the battery back up and the fuse and it’s not getting no power not even my lights come on. What could be broke?
My dad was going to surprise me with a Chinese quad for Christmas and before he surprised me it started right up, then he put it in storage for 2 months and now it won’t work. It has fuel, spark, and compression. Choke is off, and everything is how it should be.PLEASE HELP!
turns out i had a bad cdi. started right up when i put the other cdi. lot of smoke out the exhaust though. bad piston rings maybe or just a lot of oil collected in the cylinder. will have to run again tomorrow outside to see if smoke clears out

Hey Adam, If there is a black wire with a white stripe on it that does into the CDI, I would disconnect it, (or cut it such that U can re attach it in the future), and let both ends float, (do not let them touch anything), this eliminates the CDI turn off circuit, hopefully Ur spark returns and the ATV starts, let me know how U make out.... Hey Michael!!! R U taking the reading between the black wire with the red stripe and the ground, (the bare metal of the engine),? Also, if there is a green wire coming out of the engine, check the black.red stripe to that.... If opened to both, Ur stator my have loose bolts, a corroded or dirty connection, or it maybe bad.... If it is bad, it will be the first I have seen on a china quad, mostly I see dirty carb, hacked wire harnesses, bad switches, and bad CDI units on China quads and pit bikes.... I have a China quad with an e22 48cm3 motor but it only has a green wire, blue/white wire & 2 yellow wires coming from the motor I can crank the motor but no spark previous ownets havked the wires up bad so i followed your video to get it franked :) please help no one in a australia sells parts or wants to touch it unless I sell them my soul lol
I touched the 2 terminals together on the starter solenoid and only sparked starter never moved have no power at all new spark plug and battery checked wires for cracks nothing checked ends all good
Hey Clashing!!! Did U take the cap off the fly wheel cover and try to turn the engine over with a 14mm socket? Ur engine is seized or Ur starter is bad.... Harvey Spooner the motor is not seized when I put pliars on the solenoid there is spark and I only here a slight click like the starter wants to crank over but it won't just a click click click sound so yea I am going with the starter I'll find out what happens and then let you know if anything I'm swapping motors with my 212cc or 420cc of course I will have to do some fab work but that's nothing I have a 125cc atk jeep buggy well it's my son's but got it for free so I will get it running or swap the motor
let me tell you your problem these quads have a manual choke its just a flap screwed on to a bar inside the carb that little bastard came lose and went down in to the cylinder head lodged it self in the in take valve and bending the valve causing the valve to stay open so the engine cant get compression

I have a 125 four-wheeler I move the wheel a little by accident when I was putting a starter on will that throw my timing off ?if so how do I fix

I got a 50cc Baja it will start and idle but it will not take gas when I give it throttle what am I doing wrong
I have spark and it won’t start on a roketa 110 spray starting fluid and it still will not start and it does smoke some out of the exhaust

its faint but still blue,, orange spark means bad coil or plug, or system.
that coil looks weak and also if it doesn't start and timing is good the coil could be weak. thanks for the tips
Unless the spark plug was physically damaged. I have never seen a spark plug be the issue for a no spark situation.
