I’m so glad I could come through and share about what the Asian American community has been dealing with not just this past year but for decades. To anyone watching, if you’re interested in learning more on your own, search Chinese Exclusion Act, Japanese Internment Camps, Vincent Chin. Those are good places to start. And the best thing y’all can do is help us amplify the messages and info, so please share! Anti-Asian hate is real and we need as much support and allyship as possible. Thank you Grayson and Ethan and the whole team for opening up to Anna and myself! Peace and blessings all! -Philip

Being of AAPI descent, I am so honored and grateful that I saw this podcast today. I really learned a lot that I didn't know. I am also of Black descent and didn't realize the tension among our communities. I was raised in a predominately Caucasian area and had trouble understanding and identifying with other peers growing up. Being of 9 nationalities, well....you can say I have a lot to think about right now and for my entire life. I am always learning every day and will always be open minded and consciously listen to anyone willing to share their knowledge and experiences with me. My struggles have made me stronger today, sometimes jaded, but that's the humanity in me. However, I choose to help others and be part of the system that wants to make a change, to make it right. I could go on forever. This is one of my fav podcast guys because I learned something and because I could relate. Thank you for posting this. I look forward to many more. Take care and love you always! Mahalo :) Oh! Btw....I'm going to visit that Phil's cafe when I come home in couple weeks...looking forward to that!

@Powerful Oprah the sad reality is that a lot of influencers, including the dolan twins, only choose to speak up about an important issue when people force them to or when they need to maintain a good reputation; that’s the performative part. many of their fans were calling them out for not speaking about important issues going on in the world, and suddenly when their views dropped they decided to speak out on something. i do appreciate them for talking about asian hate tho

I completely agree with what Grayson said here: 1:12:41-1:12:48. "If you truly believe in equality, you don't just ... think everyone's equal ... you weaponize your privilege that you have to make sure everyone's equal." ~Grayson Dolan, 2021.

Watching this DWTDT #23 was another eye-opening experience that will further serve to awaken in us a sense of urgency that this hate among people must not destroy or even delay our quest for peace. And, as the song goes: "Let there be PEACE on Earth, and let it begin with ME." Each of us is responsible for our part in making this happen. Thank you Dolan Twins for promoting love and positivity. I am listening to the podcast right now. This dialogue is much needed right now. There is a LOT of American history left out of textbooks. Anna said something just now that should resonate with everyone: what if I am racist? What beliefs or impressions do I have that border on discrimination? I was raised in middle Georgia in the 60’s and 70’s. Until I was in my mid teens, I didn’t realize so much of what I heard and witnessed was wrong. And I have worked hard to not be that kind of person anymore. The people in the generation that Grayson and Ethan represent are the change that this world needs, that this country needs. Like both Anna and Philip said, change will be incremental, we won’t see broad strokes overnight. I pray that within five years we can at least see some visible change.

Me as a Hispanic/Latino American I well NEVER exactly understand the struggles Asians go through in this world and now story’s abt this are slowly coming out and hopefully later in life we know the whole story’s so we can know what’s going on and how help or stop it from getting worse/bigger. Reading some comments I noticed different states are starting to teach kids in school abt the Japanese American during WWII. I was in a bad mood yesterday and made some unnecessary comments on this episode. (Which I have deleted.) I should have re-watched one of their funny episodes like, "Grayson Sent the Most Embarrassing Text" and saved this one for a better time. (I just needed something light and humorous yesterday.) I am 100% against hate and racism against Asians, or any racial, or ethnic group. Every day I pray for Healing of the deep divisions in the US. I appreciate how the guests reached out with gentleness and explained their perspective.
I would be very interested to hear Anna's dad tell his story and share his perspective as well. I think if we remember we are all flawed humans, who have blind spots, and reach out to each other in forgiveness, we can make real progress. Along these lines, I would also be very interested to hear Ethan and Grayson's grandparents, great aunts & uncles... I'm sure that generation saw anti-Italian bias (which of course does not show on their skin, like race does.) Their grandparent's generation saw the civil rights movement with Martin Luther King Jr. in real time. No generation leaves a perfect legacy -- far from it. That said, I think Sean and Lisa Dolan must have been raised to be accepting and non-racist people. It's very obvious they, in turn, raised E and Gray to be very good people. I understand the twins wanting to get a message through to their older relatives. I think listening to their experiences and views first will open doors and tear down defensive walls.
Humans are very tribal by nature. We must all work to find common ground and uniting principals in order to overcome fear and distrust of the "other." I applaud Ethan and Grayson for their openness and seeking this common ground.

I saw your other posts & I did find it weird you weaponizing what u THOUGHT MLK jr would & would not agree w/ ( in regards to critical race theory ) as weird. As none of that was mentioned in this podcast but I’m sure MLK jr would want history to be taught fully ( including critical race theory, which I hope u actually looked up before commenting b/c I did) . The user “neon smiley” is upset b:c a bunch of us called her out on her bigoted comments towards the Asian community in this vid. In which she essentially said that the Asian community & other BIPOC play victim & denied that these crimes even exist. Which is false. So she’s here looking for validation from u! It has nothing to do with political parties , rather acknowledging injustices against marginalized groups like they did in this vid. Godspeed!

Thank you guys so much for speaking about this on your podcast. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I haven’t seen a ton of creators speaking out against this, so it means a lot. The Asian community appreciates you.

Whats really the worst part of this, is that most of the minorities are against each other because of what we learn growing up. It's put a divide in the groups which, evidently, need to work together to overcome this in the future generations. This episode is super relatable and informative... literally love it!!

Thank you for using the podcast to spread awareness and talking about asian hate. I love to see the interest you have on this issue and how educate you are and how you try to share with us.
Seating back and thinking about Mulan from Disney, how such a small thing to me can actually means a lot to all asian community, asian children who need much more than just one reference.
I’m glad you are fearless and don’t feel ashamed to talk.
“If you truly believe in equality, you just don’t think everyone is equal, you weaponize your privilege that you have to make sure everyone is equal”
Thank you Anna and Phillip for sharing knowledge and your experiences with us. Speaking openly about anti-Asian is the way to wake up mentalities 🙌🏻❤️

I've been loving the mature content lately because I don't really have anyone in my family who would talk about these things so it is really nice to listen to this and get educated. In general, all the podcasts have educated and informed me about a lot of stuff so I am really thankful for all of these.

Awesome informative guests. Great advice - call people out in a kind way if you see someone misrepresenting another human being. Just watched a recent video w/one of Michael Jacksons brothers & I LOVED the hat he had on: "STUDY PEACE". Thanks E & G ~ for trying to make peace in our world.
