Jeff`s grief, pain and confusion over Matt's quitting is so palpable here. Anger, lots of it. My heart goes for Mattie too. Heartbreaking record. Especially when put in the context
This version of dream brother is kinda insane. The instrumental section into his vocalizations and Matt’s drumming is so raw and emotionally charged. A song that they plaid regularly for those 2 1/2 years was still delivered in a completely unique way according to his state of mind this night, which was probably a mix of hurt, exhaustion, and confusion. You can hear every emotion in a tangible and almost uncomfortable way despite the beauty of his voice. It must’ve been so difficult to hang your emotions out like that every show. That boy was different
I was in Australia last year and ended up at an air bnb that was owned by a nice older couple. Through chatting about music they mentioned off hand that they say Jeff Buckley In tweedheads. I of course freaked out and said that the Australian/NZ was his last run before he passed away and how lucky they were. The guy immediately said that it was funny that mentioned that because when he saw jeff, he looked like his was In pain, really poured his heart out. He didn’t really think he was going to live much longer after seeing the show. Sort of a weird story, but I’ll leave it on the Internet.
He was in tweed heads?!?!?!? Do you know why or if he performed in tweed or where?? Sorry I know you commented this two years ago but I would really love to know more about this?

Matt actually walks out for about half an hour, there is no drumming for a few songs then he comes back for an angry bash on Vancouver and Kanga-Roo where this appropriately cuts out mid song. Jeff in a very strange mood all night, at one stage saying "I hope it wasn't something I said …" presumably in reference to his vanishing drummer. Another time he introduces "Matt on the drums and waters" suggesting to me that Matt was over Jeff being drunk and carrying on which makes sense when you read how they were all a bit or a lot tired of each other at this point. Sad way to end really. They weren't like this just a couple of days earlier in Melbourne; they were at the peak of their powers and performance. The proof is in the pudding. Still great to hear All Flowers but again Matt has apparently already walked out. I've read that he walked directly off stage at the end, through the crowd on the floor and out the door to the beach across the road. The end. Such is life. I'm not sure if this has been reuploaded so not sure if I should bother finishing the times :/

@@johnarundell7951 This is a very old comment but I don't agree with it. Jeff and Matt are playing with lots of emotion here and it's got lots of depth, lots of pain and somehow still beautiful as well. Had they had the chance maybe they would have played again down the line. I like to think so.
@@jimmymoz9140 I have no opinion except being mesmerized by stalking my life's only obsession and at the same time not wanting to run out of new material. And if this is him drunk, fuck me, I feel like I know every valley and top of his vibrato and it's still there. I'd give a leg, kidney and possibly even an eye for half of his talent and voice.
Oh, vancouver was still a jam. He ended up making one of my fav songs, a rollercoaster of a melody already and then he made another ontop of it with gorgeous lyrics. "lone shark of bliss" , "my need to be alone to heal this bleeding stone" and lots more. Absolute gold for me.
Matt Johnson's last gig with Jeff. bummer that the intro to Moodswing is cut off with Jeff roasting the crowd for screaming about a song they've never heard before.
I struggle to get it, but I've understood it is an originial by him and E. Fraser? I kept thinking it was a cover of Nina Simone or something, just as somebody saying Every Body Here Loves you (sounded like) Prince and I thought it was a cover of his. He's got such a range it's quite hard to hear what's his and what's a cover. oh, he even says he's working on it. What a talent.
