Some weeks ago i dreamt about a guy drowning and dissapearing in front of me while I was in the beach, having warning him about the crazy waves thst were coming. I woke up really sad and moved about it. Few hours later, TH-cam recommended me a concert of Jeff Buckley, who i never listened to before. I started to cry hard because of his delivery and soulful songs. Then, to my surprise, I found a video about his death. I was really really shocked. Since then, he had such a profound impact on me. I discovered Jeff only 8 months ago and since then I have been completely bethrothed and devoted to his music like I never have experienced before. This is one of his songs that speaks to my heart and soul. Its so excruciating and unbelievable that he is actually gone and it breaks me every day, and it will riddle me to the end of time. He is the definition of being completely timeless: his poetry, his skills, his voice, his beauty, his everything! My heart and soul and the bane of my inspiration (as he is to many, many others). Add me to this list. I just discovered him earlier this year, became quickly obsessed, and he is becoming one of my favorite artists of all time. I have never had this kind of visceral reaction to anyones music like this before. I lost my mother in February and without Jeff, I really don't know how I would have made it through the excruciating sadness and sorrow. His music is so full of passion, fire, soul, inspiration, deep truth, and great beauty. It has affected me deeply, set my soul ablaze, and healed my heart from great loss. I found myself when I found him. There are not enough words to express what he and his music mean to me. His death was a tragedy and a great loss for music as well as humanity. Thank you Jeff, Its never over.
Awesome. I dreamt last night that Jeff was alive, and that I got to see him perform live (one of my regrets that I never actually got a chance to do). I didn't want to wake up. But when I did, this song was in my head.
I am super late to the Buckley party. I just discovered this beautiful human November of last year. His music speaks deeply to me. This song in particular hits the core hard. 💜💜💜

One of the most important musicians in my life that meant everything to me and still hits deep whenever i listen to his work as he is just one of those songwriters that grabs you by the soul. Especially this masterpiece.
I haven't commented here before? I actually prefer this over the full band live recording. What a story, the gritty, dirty guitar, the images, the lyrics. The dirty perfection. I jank it out on my guitar as good as I can, I'm atheist, but I hope and imagine he somehow could hear it and feel a little proud.

Kisses on my mouth with his eyes rolling out of the socket
Memories crumbling under solid steel resistance
I was torn out like pages from The Book of Existence
I woke up in a strange place
My mind a blur and some blood on my chin
I made a call for that Black Death cab
My destination is moving on in
And I remember words you told me
Came down so hard, so plain
Fate is gonna find you, Love,

Love came calling as a counterfeit mistress
Stealing from the pockets of her sadomasochist
Mouthing false praise like a tongue on crystal meth
Cigarette smelled like the fear inside my chest
Yes and I lied to my host that I knew how far I could go
When I emptied my guts out on his brand new stereo
He paid me to go on upstairs and spend the night with his friend
I never want to see my face in the mirror again
I woke up in a strange place
Music so loud I spit up my beer
I took a ride down in that Black Death cab
My destination is already here
Easy now, car is speeding up
For my last chance crash into freedom
Fate is going to find you, Love,
In your glass of champagne
Sweat pours down, I'm in the back seat sleeping
She watches from her empty bed, out the window, weeping
Ghost guns that motor to the land that he promised me
Drawbridge abandoned and the mother needs nowhere
This is a song for you, Dislocated,
You're born to love, but it turned to be hated
Because the lies of the spirit possessed you
Because the eyes of your lover resist you
Listen up, boy, I'm shouting from the bottom
Of a barrel, heading down the rapids, yeah
Steady now, keep your aim solid
As your temple turns to kiss the pistol
Fate is going to find you, My Love,
In your glass of champagne
Fate is going to find you, Love,
In your glass of champagne
Fate is going to find you, Love,
In your glass of champagne

Kisses on my mouth with his eyes rolling out of the sockets
Memories crumbling under solid steel resistance
I was torn out like pages from the book of existence
I woke up in a strange place
My mind a blur and some blood on my chin
I made a call for that black death cab
My destination is moving on in
And I remember words you told me
Came down so hard, so plain
Fate is gonna find you, love
In your glass of champagne
Love came calling as a counterfeit mistress
Stealing from the pockets of her sadomasochist
My ???? plays like a tongue on crystal meth
Cigarette smelled like the fear inside my chest
Yes, and I lied to my host that I knew how far I could go
When I emptied my guts out on his brand new stereo
He paid me to go upstairs to spend the night with his friend
I never want to see my face in the mirror again
I woke up in a strange place
Music so loud I spilled all my beer
I took a ride down in that black death cab
My destination is already here
Easy now
Car is speeding up
For my last chance crash into freedom
Fate is going to find you, love
In your glass of champagne
Sweat pours down
I'm in the back seat
Sleeping
She watches from her empty bed
Out the window
Weeping
Ghost guns that motor to the land that he promised me
??? abandon and the ???? needs nowhere
This is a song for you, dislocated
You were going to love, but it turned to being hated
Because the lies of the spirit possessed you
Because the eyes of your lover resist you
Listen up, boy
I'm shouting from the bottom of a barrel
Heading down the rapids, yeah
Steady now, keep your aim solid
As your temple turns to kiss the pistol
Fate is going to find you, my love
In your glass of champagne
I think he said “mouthing froth splays like a tongue on crystal meth” and “drawbridge abandoned and the road leads nowhere”
I think the "ghost" is a metaphor for a drug of some sort. The one that left him waking up in a strange place.
Could it be "mouthing false prayers like a tongue on crystal meth"?
Or maybe even "moulding false prayers"
Love came calling as a counterfeit mistress
Stealing from the pockets of a sadomasochist
Mouthing false plays like a tongue on crystal meth
Cigarette smelled like the fear inside my chest
Yes, and I lied to my host that I knew how far I could go
When I emptied my guts out on his brand new stereo
