I'm not a big fanboy of PRS although they are great . I bought the DGT se , and have determined this guitar punches way above it's price point . . Job well done Higginbotham /Smith
I've had my Goldtop for a few months and I haven't touched my other guitars since. I'll be selling my Telecaster because I never really bonded with it and it's a very nice guitar but.......... Now I'm a PRS fan all the way.
I've heard that this guitar does have a nice coil split tone. Most the guitars with coil split humbuckers I've used sound thin and weak and sound nothing like a strat or tele. Going shopping for this model today.
I 100% agree about the birds. I would get the gold top but as nice as it looks, I've had moons on a PRS fretboards before and never liked them. Gold Top + Birds would be the perfect combo. I'm going for the maple cap sunburst model, just waiting on sweetwater for the right one because the look of the maple vaneer is somewhat inconsistent which is both good and bad I suppose. I know a lot of people say you can get a Santana Gold Top with Birds but they don't have the DGT pickups which are the star of the show in my opinion.
I totally agree that the gold top should have been the version with birds, as I want a sunburst version with the moons so that's a fair exchange, haha.
Thank you so much, man! 🙌🏼 I’m going through a HX stomp. I’m using the Boogie MK4 on clean with an overdrive in front. Slight hint of stereo delay with some reverb
Hi Andy, just ran across your channel and appreciate the straightforward approach and a guitar played in tune (!) with beautiful tones. I was unable to determine what amplifier or modeling you were playing through. Can you share? Keep up the great work (subscribed)!
I've had problems with both the tuner and the nut. I've had a few PRS SE guitars including the newer 549 McCarty and Custom 24 (within the last year). They both had the same problems. There are certainly nicer guitars out there for the same money.
I think the PRS is made to a higher quality, 100%. It does a different thing to the Schecter but I prefer the PRS more to play, and on my wallet too. I think for a similar price bracket, the PRS Is a more reliable guitar. I’ll probably be selling both my Schecters to buy another PRS
I currently have a DGT SE and a NJ USA. And I've owned before a NJ Traditional and a US DGT Both are different animals. If you want full versatility and more modern tone and vibe, plus real single coil, and you prefer thinner necks (I assume you mean the Traditional NJ) then go fot he NJ. If you like the idea of a more vintage style tone, but with a modern approach and a trem and chunkier neck, then the DGT SE (and also has split coil that does a good job for sure) QUality on both is fantastic. I did like about the import NJ that there are details that make it feel like a higher end guitar. The PRS is great but you can notice with the finish on the neck and toggle switch, the horrible looking knobs, that is not a higher end guitar, very good but does not give that feel. Doesn't matter what you decide, both are fantastic instruments, and about the NJ USA vs the import, the main reason I got the USA was because the neck profile on the USA was kind of chunkier, and felt better to me on the hand (is a bit wider on the fretboard and has more meat) plus the wenge neck OMFG, what a gorgeous looking and feeling wood. Just a joy to touch and look (although the roasted maple in the import is great as well and feels awesome, but the wenge just takes it into another level) , but I would have kept the import if the neck profiles were the other way around, even with the wenge. And also was a great opportunity that I knew I wasnt going to get again to grab the NJ USA (I trade it but had to sell other guitars for it lol) Thats it, DGT SE and NJ Traditional I think are some of the very best guitars you can get for under 1k, no question. You can check my channel as well and I have recording of the 4 models, both USA and import versions.
I own a gold se dgt. The tuners aren't great n i replaced them with locking one.. massive difference ... pots aren't great n the jack input doesn't like my boss wireless... the pick ups are otherwordly .. the money went on the development of the sound... best se by a long shot ... i own a ce 24 n i can feel the difference in materials but the se dgt is a phenomenal guitar for the money ... once u replace the tuners n maybe some pots n jack u'll have a keeper forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you don’t fancy all the bullshit, tones start at 11:25

The DGT SE and McCarty 594 SE are amazing.
6:29 plays with knob
Love the tones you get, very informative video. I want one
great tones & playing !

Funnily enough, I was actually thinking this yesterday. How perfect it would be if the gold top was sold with the birds!

At a grand I can’t see the details of every guitar being met , trem staying in tune because nuts cut right I’m sure they still need some work.
Mate, you sound glorious. What are you running your guitar through, or what's your signal chain?

@@andydavid9 thanks mate! Never got mine to sound that good. Any chance on getting the preset? 🙏

It seems like you haven't removed the plastic from the pickups 😁
Yep! I’m saving it for a special occasion! 😂

Nice playing😊

@@dcboogie thanks man! This was back when I used a HX stomp but can’t remember what preset I used
I love your tone. How did you make it?
