    Hope y'all enjoy this one! The edit was a beast-almost as difficult as the 14 Vise-Grips workout on Wahoo SYSTM 😅 What is your favorite workout session on the bike?

      This may sound crazy but after 4 hard weeks of training take 4 or 5 days off really. Then come back and test it allows you to fully recover. Ask Cam lol.

      He gave me the same advice at the end of this block--took a full week off. Now I'm itching to get back at it!

      The Gorby on Zwift. My go-to if I want to quickly rebuild fitness after some time off.
      Great video, can very much relate to your experience, frustrations, but ultimately improvement through consistent, structured training.

    What a thorough video and very kind words for the RCA. At the end of the day, the coach's job is easy. It's the member/athlete that does the hard work to get the results! This video clearly tells a tale of someone that was committed with the right motivation to improve. The scenes of you in the kitchen / dining area while away on holidays says it all. LOL! Well done on achieving the results you did, and as mentioned, you're only just getting started! Cheers, Cam

    You definitely saw the initial gain in fitness all newbies get. Then the hard work starts where it take years to make small but important gains. Rome wasn't built in a day! Keep at it. Any gain is an improvement

    I follow a lot (as in too many) cycling youtubers, and just came across your Peloton FTP video, then this one. Very fun, you deserve more subscribers.
    And as someone with an initial FTP and weight similar to your own and who has ridden 10,000 km in the last 2 years and barely improved, this is really putting me to shame - great stuff!

    Haha I bought that exact saddle too! And new carbon wheels for my gravel whip. Oh and the Wahoo Headwind fan, which has been THE training game changer. Trust me, an hr adjustable fan that blows directionally on you is so worth it.
    Unfortunately my 60 year old body has run into trouble and I am facing an uncertain future. We’ve had to dial back my training just when I was making meaningful gains, but I look at it like I was training for one race and now I am just applying that training to another more important event. Appreciate all your kudos in Strava and Zwift high fives and I’ll keep mine coming for your training!

    This is brilliant. I am clearly recognizing myself here, looking a lot for the numbers, and equipment, and maybe even forgetting the ultimate goal of cycling. Cheers, man. Your initial results were just so amazing that skewed the reality a bit. You would be unpleasantly surprised how much damage a two-week break would do to your fitness. This is a long game, at least for myself and at some point, it becomes more menta than physical.

    • @MitchBoyer

      @MitchBoyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been working on a new training video! Even went to Australia and talked with my coach in person. Should be out in about a month or so! To answer your question--I prefer doing internals outside. I have a few different climbs that I use depending on the workout.

  • @michaelclarke6651
    @michaelclarke6651 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Mitch great video. Why exactly did you need to upgrade your trainer? I’ve seen articles about zwift races requiring 2% accuracy, but thought that was only for pro-level events.

    • @MitchBoyer
      @MitchBoyer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, Michael! The trainer-feel was the big factor for me. I tried the Wahoo Kickr and resistance changes were much smoother than the Tacx Flux. I'm sure the higher-end Tacx is much better, but I decided to go with the Wahoo because I'm already in their ecosystem. All that said, the Flux worked, and I gave it to my dad and he loves it. Hope that helps!

    To summarize, if you work your ass off with extreme discipline, you get faster. No surprise here. Me personally after 4 decades of competitive cycling? Don't kill yourself on the bike because its never worth it. Ride in zone 2 or 3 and even go anaerobic once in a while. But don't get caught in the mud with other zealots trying to prove something to yourself. You just end up exhausted all the time. You can have great BMI and muscle fitness without killing yourself on the bike. Learn to swim. I was a competitive swimmer growing up and if you want a good body, learn to swim which like anything else is a skill.
    It you want to go real fast on a bicycle and keep up with elite cyclists, install a motor on your bike. I ride my ebike now 5:1 versus my carbon road bike.

  • @elizabethwilliamson8700
    @elizabethwilliamson8700 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am sure your coach is great but most coaching is built for racing. The only way to really improve is to race, not just on Strava but against actual cyclist. Part of cycling is obviously skill improvement and that comes from learning how to race with a group so you don't get dropped. Training is just that training. I think it would be alot more real if you actually raced!
