  • Getting ripped off stinks! If you believe Rubies Sapphires and Diamonds are rare then ask yourself why does everyone own one?

    I was out mining for gemstones in atlanta and I also bought along my rock collection to show 'the owner of mine said do you know you have a mess of meteorites and a garnet stone I was so happy I know the collection was something but had no idea they all where valueable...I love rock hunting, that's awesome to do something so wonderful

    • @manowar40
      @manowar40  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The meteorites can be worth a lot of money if properly identified. I have sold nearly all of mine that I have found along the Arkansas river and made some really good money off of them. I highly recommend you finding out what the meteorites are composed of, like iron nickle and other types of metal hidden inside the core of the meteorite. You can use a metal detector to identify the different types of metal and get a good idea what their worth is. Just keep in mind meteorites can be worth a lot of money so be careful as to who you entrust them with. Thanks

      @@AEON. That's totally wrong. Flux grown sapphire are very easy to detect, they don't have the same interaction with light than natural because the crystaline structure is different than natural. But Hydrothermal sapphire (also synthetic) have the same propriety than natural, these one are impossible to spot by eyes, but with proper equipment it's possible. Anyway thats not the subject of this video

    Some people find or acquire stones and think just because they have it, that its nice or valuable. A lot of times it's either a very poor or low grade example, or even misidentified. When you get a good deal there is a reason why.

    I would like to know if you could tell me what the stone is I found. On the outside it's dull, on the inside it's shiny and somewhat translucent. On the outside it registers from 6, 7 or 8 depending on where you test at, and in the little holes it goes all the way to diamond. So I don't know what it is, in the sun it looks like glass and very shiny. How do I send you pictures?

    Hi Manowar,
    I live in Northern Thailand, and I am friends with a cutter who gets his hands on all kinds of material, sapphire, ruby, spinel etc. Sometimes he heats it, sometimes he doesn't (he never lead fills). I've seen incredibly red, beautiful rough ruby from Mogok up close and you immediately see why it's so valuable, compared to other stones.

      Lol. Mother nature makes them as perfect as possible and it's very subjective. Any stone that in nature states are so beautiful until people try to modified them to fit their idea of what 'perfection' is. I would buy these 'ugly' stone anytime than the human modified one. We should be allowed to cut, shape and polish them only, nothing more. 😂😂😂😂

  • @johngallagher9151
    @johngallagher9151 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    By the way, you're cutting the Rubies and sapphires in the wrong direction, you need to cut them in a way that comes or flattens the C-Axis. You are ruining a lot of potential Star sapphires and Star Rubies, which goes to show you actually know far less than you think you know. The "mosaic" is actually Rutile growing through the ruby along the growth plates. That is the ONLY one you seem to have cut somewhat properly.

    We went to Tennessee and mined for Stones just in those side shops. But the owner told me the whole story about when he first started out and where his Business has had to make Changes with the way he chooses to buy mined gem stones. So he bids on boxes of mined stones now. He said sadly most stones
    Sold in stores are artificially grown. So then they sorted our stones and told us what all we have. We are buying a rock tumbler but. It sure how
    To work with Ruby’s and sapphires to finish them for jewelry? Have to done any videos on start to finishing these stones?

    hi I am desy Here. Thanks for the Truth About Gemstones,I would like to Know how much is the cost for Blue Sapphire &Yellow Sapphire?

    • @manowar40
      @manowar40  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the quality of the stones and the color, The yellow sapphires are hard to find unless you buy the rough and sort through it and there is no guarantee you will find one that is clear. The blue sapphires are much easier to find you just need to be sure they haven't been heat treated. Ebay has both rough and treated sapphire really cheap, but I would be careful on buying their yellow sapphires most are either yellow quartz called (citrine) or colored quartz that has been heat treated. If you need me to look on ebay for you or go through my stock of sapphire and rubies I can. Thanks Rob

  • @deltabluesdavidraye
    @deltabluesdavidraye 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very few white diamonds are treated.A good ruby or Sapphire that isn't treated other than heat is hard to find and worth a a lot of money . I have many large best unheated Sapphires that I found and received at working mines. The $ to find these are substantial.Yes there is more junk out there than fine material that's why fine untreated rubies and Sapphire is worth a fortune.What you have here is corundum hardly acceptable as gem grade.

    • @kvtar
      @kvtar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm, the professionals don't seem to concerned about heat treated sapphires or tanzanite. You can take a particularly dull colored and less desirable stone and turn it into a bright, vibrant, highly prized stone. Hell, many professional jewelry makers offer a heat treatment service.

    I have ruby and sapphire, found in North Ga., and they are in the rough and opaque. They do fluoresce under a black light, brilliant pink and blue. They are not crystalline and see through though and I'd just like to know how they would look cut and polished. I love the gems I've found, in the rough better, but just wondered if there is any value to opaque stones. Thanks.😊

      Sorry for the delay in responding I have been excavating a bluff shelter (native American site) and haven't been checking my messages. The answer to your question is yes as long as they are stable and do not crumble to the touch you should be able to have them worked into nice pieces, I recommend you take them to someone who does lapidary work it's cheaper then having a gem cutter do it and the lapidarist should be able to preserve the natural beauty of the stone .thanks Rob

    This stuff is garbage. You can get it at any rock shop. True gem grade ruby, sapphire, diamond, and emerald is VERY rare. Everyone may own COMMERCIAL GRADE examples of these stones, which are quite common, but gem grade is something most folks don't own. Hell, most people have never even SEEN gem grade examples of those stones, much less own them. And don't bring up that shit you see at mall chain stores. That's garbage too. For someone who is an expert, you should know better.
