You NEED to focus your camera. Auto-focus is not handling this well, and I gauruntee you that that would improve your watch ability.

I have a geode, and the crystals inside are white. They first smelled kind of like laundry detergent, but now they smell like nothing. It might have been because I cracked it open with a hammer. It isn’t see through, and when I put a fire up to it the color changed to gray and yellow, and it smells like ash now. What do you think it is?

While this information is useful in identifying mineral characteristics, it does not identify specific minerals.
For example, how do you identify two different minerals that are soft, fracture the same, are nonmetallic, and have no calcite?
Can this be done without expensive scientific equipment?
I ask this because my 6-year-old granddaughter is very interested and I would like to help her understand more about it.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Im no scientist just a crystal/mineral lover so for me visual identification works great if you know different visual properties like color, structure, and luster it can be fairly easy to differentiate between similar minerals like those four purple ones i identified as amethyst, amerine, purple tourmaline, and purple fluorite yes i know this method is not the best but without a knowledge of hardness and streaks those tests are pretty useless
