I agree I mean he's not the best I season 1 I personally get excited to see him until he hangs out with Dustin in season 2 because it just hilarious in my opinion but he wasn't a bad guy in season 1 and I don't get why people paint him that way all of his actions have motives that we see
Exactly. He was not a 'hero' in season 1, he had his flaws and all, but he was just being a normal human. Like us. We are not perfect. Steve wasn't either. Doesn't mean he was a douchebag.
Can I just say... I love how well this captures an aspect of Steve's character people seem to gloss over a lot: He was really obviously in love with Nancy. He may have started off as a douchebag, but even in the beginning it's so clear how charmed he is with Nancy- not just for being beautiful, but also how she's unapologetically smart and assertive. And he continues to be openly affectionate and fond of her right until the end. Like, these two were together for a year! He was very clearly committed and finding out that Nancy didn't actually return his feelings, that she might have been pining for Jonathan the entire time must have been really crushing.
I mean, he wasn't even that much of a douchbag. If someone secretly made photos of my girlfriend in underwear I would probably beat them black and blue, not just crush their camera.
how do you manage to show a total different side of steve than every other fanvideo I know of him did? Everyone shows him as the funny guy, the hero, the great babysitter... you showed him broken and hurt. I love this video just because of that!
n'aaawww thank you so much!! It means a lot really :') I wouldn't mind doing a fun/badass video of him but that's not my strong suit and there are a lot great videos of it already... so I guess for now I'll stick to my angst and overanalizing of the character :D
Well, but Steve was just that in the series. He had his set backs but he didn't get depressed by them, if clearly frustrated. He was quite creative actually, finding new space for himself to be meaningful in (one that included more of what is the right thing to do, as well :P). He still is failing in the girlfriend department though heh.
Bullshit and the toilet flushing omg. That seems to be the way Steve felt after Nancy rejected him and moved on so quickly with Johnathan. Like she flushed their whole relationship down the toilet in a matter of seconds. I love the way you connect shots and motives. Just amazing. Your videos really are character studies and every time you get to the root of who these characters are at their core. Bravo
Her drunken scene was so good. It's not that it's hard to pretend being drunk...But all the emotions spiriling out. The resentment, the frustration, anger, despise. Just...so good. And it's such a revelating moment about both characthers.
I never really hated Steve as a character in series but him being hurt and played and that he thought no one could accept him in every single season just sad. i would be that one friend that will actually be there for him like Dustin. In season 1 Dustin said that Steve was a jerk and a douche bag,but when he got to talk to him in s2 they felt the same in one another (in common). everyone needs a friend like djustin. thank you for doing this

Holy shit Steve's always been my favorite character and even I didn't realize this depressive depth he was dealing with the entire time, it's such a hidden part of his character but you brought it out so fucking perfectly
i came back to this video because of the season 4 coming out and just- m a n. you did such an amazing job showing the side of steve's character a lot of people forget about. people tend to portray steve as the funny guy, the clumsy guy, the guy who accidentally became a mother of a bunch of kids and then somehow helped everyone to save the world. in reality he's just- he wants to be loved. he wants to find his place in the world, a person who would accept him. he wants to mean something to someone. the party scene with nancy calling steve and everything that's happened between them bullshit is kinda heartbreaking. even though at first steve comes off as a typical popular-rich-kid who's full of himself, it is clearly shown that it wasn't bullshit for him at all, that it hurt him deeply to realize that the person he'd been in relationship with for a year didn't return his feelings. and you managed to show exactly that. steve broken and hurt, steve who doesn't really think anything of himself because people like him but don't really love him. it's freaking amazing, thank you so much for making it
Steve has just been through a lot and personally I am so glad he finally just got a good friend in Robin. I want a friendship like that and if anyone deserves one it’s Steve.

This has made me feel really bad for Steve. He’s one of my favourite characters, but this just shows how his life really is. This is a wonderful edit, like, one of the best editors out there, and I hope you do more! (:
This is why Steve is my favorite chacter in the series. So much development and so much pain he's gone threw really makes a good chacter good job stranger things 👏
This edit was amazing! The way you showed the side of Steve that everyone kinda forgets and show that he doesn’t really have luck when it comes to love. Love your edit!
Oh man thank you! You are the only person who edits Steve in this prospective. Your other video of Steve with the line “no parents, big house” is my favourite Steve video. I think people often look at Steve as this amazing character development and the funny mom character, but overlook how much pain he has endured. That line “no parents, big house” has always stuck with me. Also I watched this review of season three and the critic said “more people need to be concerned about Steve. I think he is hurting”. He is, but none sees it. Thanks for continuing to portray Steve in this broken and pained light because it isn’t shown enough!!!!
You portrayed this side of Steve so well. I feel like a lot of people watch stranger things, and see the funny side of steve but tbh like i just know there is that sad part of him. Like him mentioning his asshole dad, and his well respected mom. Idk i feel like there is more behind what he says, family life or not. He’s the classic comic relief character, and those characters are always messed up mentally somehow.
Anyone love how after all this rejection and heartbreak, the second robin turns him down by coming out, he accepts her without hesitation and spends like zero time being disappointed or sad, he 100% doesn’t make it about himself. Real mvp
I actually liked this video before I started watching- I knew it'd be phenomenal (I remember and have rewatched No parents, big house multiple times!), and it didn't disappoint! The thing I love about how you edit Steve, and it's on full display here, is that you get what a nuanced and kind of depressing character he is. I don't mean depressing to watch, but Steve is a great example of a "being good sucks" kind of character; he doesn't rewarded by doing the right thing, and in fact, his life seems to get worse and worse as he choses to better himself. He goes from a not too nice person but with the admiration and envy of his peers, many girls wanting to be with him, and few worries/no injuries to progressively nicer and more selfless- to the point where he's arguably one of the most selfless characters on the show, always sacrificing himself for others, protecting people to his own detriment without any reward/any relationship to those under his protection- but also consistently beat up (even tortured), kinda picked on in season 2, laughed at in season 3 when he tries to hit on girls, heart broken by the two girls he was genuinely interested in, describing himself as "having no future". Like that's inherently sad. It's not bad (his life/friendships were shallower/hollower before he changed, and being a better person is never a waste) but he is just a character that never seems to "win", if that makes sense. He also becomes more and more self-aware, recognizing the shallowness of popularity and how insensitive and ignorant he was. Which means that Steve is both a hilarious character who says things that imply a lack of deep thinking and a certain level of immaturity but also an incredibly deep character who possesses great emotional maturity, empathy, and self-awareness. He's both a riot that doesn't seem to take anything seriously/has no plan for life and borderline introspective, depressed about his prospects and uncertain about his future. And I don't necessarily think he's saying things that seem immature/dumb because he's putting on a facade (but definitely sometimes when he was hitting on the girls, there seem to be aspects of putting up a front) but he is all those things, which mean he's complicated. I love how you capture Steve's character so well, and all the aspects about him that are normally overlooked. The audience feels for him not because he's funny or a badass but because he's very human- and you managed to capture that in less than 2 minutes. The music was a great choice, haunting almost. When the beat changes at 1:07 and then 1:33, the way you edited the next parts with the changes was so amazing. This is so beautiful, two minutes flew by. You're an incredibly talented editor, I hope you know that. I normally am not a huge fan of instrumental songs with dialogue videos, but that's because they normally feel patched together. You're telling a cohesive and compelling story here. It's a character study, first and foremost. Choosing "we like Steve, but we don't love Steve"- and complementing that with quotes like "he's actually a nice guy" "does that mean I have to like him?" was brilliant. I wouldn't have thought of those lines for a video like this. I love that you ended on "but I guess you got to mess up to figure things out" because that's a great summation of Steve's character. And omg I'm obsessed with how you have the parallel moments at 1:07 of Steve pulling back from Nancy and then him walking away from Nancy. Honestly- what sorcery is this that you can capture so many emotions, so much pain, tell such a great story, and capture the nuances of Steve's 3 season arc IN TWO MINUTES? It's so obvious how much thought went into this, and it's incredibly beautiful and poignant. Thank you for sharing!
i absolutely love your edit. i come back to this video every other day. wow. not only does this show a whole different side to steve that has been there the entire time but also joe keery’s amazing acting. wow. great job.
A another great Steve Harrington video. People always focus on the funny side, big brother side or his badass moments that they forget everything else going on with him. I'm glad he found Dustin, Robin and other friends (Nancy too ). He needed be surrounded by better people.

I don't have words to tell you how beautifully you've created this outstanding edit! Bravo! I absolutely love this! You showed the sad and broken part of steve when others did not, he's not just a hero and a famous boy in highschool, he does have a broken side too. I love that!
yessss queen tell them god i love your talent. how u feel music? the quality? the scene choices oh damn. also 0:51 ?? girl this was well-played . in conclusion, we stan.
Oh my gosh your scene choice and the sound editing makes this so amazing Probably the best Steve video out there It shows of his character so well and I love it
Remember that girl who was talking about how “love makes you crazy” in the police station? That sums up this whole triangle. After Nancy left Steve for Jonathan, he changed. He lost everything, but gained something new. I feel like all those underrated characters we see in ST evolved somehow throughout the show, but never got the spotlight. Steve, as well as Lucas, max, and MAYBE Jonathan (although he pretty much got the spotlight for a while) all evolved somehow throughout this series. Steve evolved from being the popular kid to caring. He left his friends for Nancy, and never got her back, yet he still evolved into a better person. Lucas was originally stubborn, focusing on one thing, bringing back will. He only trusted those who he knew for a while, but eventually he warned up to eleven, and met Max. Max kinda also changed him to loosen up. Max learned a lot about caring, and also loosening up her comfort zone. And Jonathan finally opened up more to people when he met Nancy.
We all know how Steve feels. He's broken and sad inside but never shows it. He's always loving, caring and try to behave as if he's alright. His closest friends leave him and went to college. The girl he loved didn't love her back and guess what? he accepted her decision. He had an affection with Robin but still heartbroken again. He protected the kids even nobody told him to do so. He's a real Hero. He is the heart and soul of stranger things. Probably he would sacrifice himself as it seems in this season for Nancy and kids. He's my favourite as we all have some part of Steve in ourselves that's why we love him deep down
this is a masterpiece. after will, steve is my favourite character in the show and no one vids him like you do ♥ this is such a perfect tribute to this side of the character.
I love this sm!! This video literally depicts my feelings for Steve and how he and Nancy shouldn't be back together...she hurted him too much man. I get the whole they're have grown from high school, it's better to leave what they had in the past :(
Love love love this!!! It's such a small but important window into Steve's psyche, and how a few words across his life hold such meaning to him. You've connected them flawlessly, as usual, and threaded together visuals in such a way that I hardly notice the cuts. Well done as usual!
It's so bad from me then I've never notised how much deprresive live Steve has. I mean I have notised that he got into a lot of fights, but I've never notised he is that much broken, I mean nobody ever told him that they love him. It's so sad that I cry right now becouse of how much arogant I was even though I have a crush on him.
This is my favorite edit of Steve ever! I love absolutely everything about this because he’s my favorite character in my all time favorite show :) I can’t stop watching this. I feel like every fan edit of any character in a show reminds me of an emotion I’ve felt at some point in my life
You portrayed this side of Steve so well. I feel like a lot of people watch stranger things, and see the funny side of steve but tbh like i just know there is that sad part of him. Like him mentioning his asshole dad, and his well respected mom. Idk i feel like there is more behind what he says, family life or not. He’s the classic comic relief character, and those characters are always messed up mentally somehow.
thank you! i'm glad you think so :)
Literally my favorite character
Anyone love how after all this rejection and heartbreak, the second robin turns him down by coming out, he accepts her without hesitation and spends like zero time being disappointed or sad, he 100% doesn’t make it about himself. Real mvp
The best ST edit! 😍💞
thank you!
i'm speechless, that was beautiful.
thank you!
MY DUUUUUUDDDEEE OMG THIS IS PHENOMANAL???? i LOVE that transition at 1:10. its so so cool!!!!
thank you so much :D
Thank you for sharing!
aaaaahhh omg!! thank you soo much! this means a lot, THANK YOU!!! :')
i absolutely love your edit. i come back to this video every other day. wow. not only does this show a whole different side to steve that has been there the entire time but also joe keery’s amazing acting. wow. great job.
thank you! :D
A another great Steve Harrington video. People always focus on the funny side, big brother side or his badass moments that they forget everything else going on with him. I'm glad he found Dustin, Robin and other friends (Nancy too ). He needed be surrounded by better people.
thank you!
This shows me a whole different side to how amazing he is after all that bs bs bs bs he still continues to care for dusting and the gang
THIS IS A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE WOAH

I don't have words to tell you how beautifully you've created this outstanding edit! Bravo! I absolutely love this! You showed the sad and broken part of steve when others did not, he's not just a hero and a famous boy in highschool, he does have a broken side too. I love that!

He’s definitely my favorite character
i’m so obsessed with this edit. no others can compare.
thank you so much :)
We do love Steve in this house! This is awesome Sara. You are the master of vidding this show.
amen!! We for sure love Steve in here :DD
Thank you Dennis!
Ive watched this over 295648568 times
We all know how Steve feels. He's broken and sad inside but never shows it. He's always loving, caring and try to behave as if he's alright. His closest friends leave him and went to college. The girl he loved didn't love her back and guess what? he accepted her decision. He had an affection with Robin but still heartbroken again. He protected the kids even nobody told him to do so. He's a real Hero. He is the heart and soul of stranger things. Probably he would sacrifice himself as it seems in this season for Nancy and kids. He's my favourite as we all have some part of Steve in ourselves that's why we love him deep down
this is a masterpiece.
after will, steve is my favourite character in the show and no one vids him like you do ♥
this is such a perfect tribute to this side of the character.
thank you so much :')
this is absolutely my favorite edit of steve,i just cant stop watching
by the way steve is my favorite
thanks! :D
I love this sm!! This video literally depicts my feelings for Steve and how he and Nancy shouldn't be back together...she hurted him too much man. I get the whole they're have grown from high school, it's better to leave what they had in the past :(
thanks!! I actually also think they shouldn't get back together.
*i feel very loved, from this.*
Love love love this!!! It's such a small but important window into Steve's psyche, and how a few words across his life hold such meaning to him. You've connected them flawlessly, as usual, and threaded together visuals in such a way that I hardly notice the cuts. Well done as usual!
thank you so much lady! :DD
this literaly made me cry cuz its beautiful
thank you so much!
THIS SHOULD BE A MOVIE
Steave was never hatet by me, he was just being protective to his girl friend that any real man does
i just wanna give him a big hug tbh
This is my favorite edit of Steve ever! I love absolutely everything about this because he’s my favorite character in my all time favorite show :) I can’t stop watching this. You truly captured everything about his character. He’s so complex and interesting and you showed us a different side of him that I appreciate. Thank you for this 🥰💖💖
thank you so much :')
