I know he is so natural there and spontaneously interacting with us. Be careful Cecilia Christopher may never leave. This new side of living in Svalbard adds such a new dimension to the videos and I’m sure amazing adventures.
Am I the only one who is thrilled that Chris is much more comfortable on camera and being filmed? I have loved following this channel for years and watching the evolution. Love, love, love that you allow me to follow along Cecilia! Thank you for the videos.
Cecilia, I never get tired of how much you love every day. When it’s bright and hot you say, “It’s beautiful.” When it’s cold and dark you say, “This is just amazing.” And, “Look at this.”
Gorgeous season at your wonderful cabin. It's great to see Cristoffer so open and happy. You could get a beautiful stainless steel Burkey counter-top water filter cannister for the glacier water, then you wouldn't have to haul water in from Longyearbyen exceptin winter. I know glacier water can have unhelpful microbes in it sometimes. I've drunk it before in Canada. It's delicious, but it's best to be safe.
I’m just amazed at how I consider your regular home to be too “off the grid” for me, but for the two of you, it’s not far enough off the grid. This will be a fun adventure to follow.
Every single video I am constantly amazed at Cecelia's ability to make you feel it. It's not just reading about it or watching a video, you TRULY feel the magic ❤️
Exactly, I've never been to Svalbard but I feel I go there every week :) After watching her videos, I feel like I just came back from a week-end get away. I live in Montréal, Canada, and I wish I could go to Svalbard one day :) Merci Cecilia et Christopher de me faire voyager !!!!
Being totally off grid and watching Grimm do the things dogs do maybe an idea would be to get with his veterinarian and pack up the ideal Grimm first aid kit with things for tummy issues like canned plain pumpkin and probiotics. 🐾 Y’all look so excited. It brings my heat joy watching you.❤
I feel that when Cecilia says “we” bought a cabin, that includes me and almost 900k other people, I’m also exited about the new adventures, thank you for bring us along!
I know it’s wonderful. These are the times we are living in and it’s great that we can live and learn about a place on the other side of the globe (in almost real time) and that individual creators get the rewards (rather than huge media conglomerates -ok thank you TH-cam - but I’m talking about creators getting percentages)).
It’s so much fun to see Christoffer in his glory! It’s like this cabin experience has brought out the real Christoffer that’s been underneath that big teddy bear all along!
I think Cristopher has finally relaxed and is starting to enjoy the camera. I think it has a lot to do with the new cabin. He is smiling more and looks very content.. So happy for you guys!!!!
Cecilia, you're not fooling anyone. You bought a new cabin because you love decorating so much! Ikea must love getting orders from you! It looks awesome, hope you have many happy years there. Love your videos. 😊
I'm so sorry to hear you're going thru div. It's like going thru a death (bc you are). There are 5 stage: 1) shock/denial 2) anger 3) bargaining 4) depression 5) acceptance. You can feel more than one at a time & find yourself going back 'n forth at diff times. It's rough going thru but time eases. I found it helpful tbh with self, realize MY contributions to it (we all own a part) then try not to repeat them in future. It's best to not be bitter bc thats an emotion too that we ourselves are respon for! Hope this helps & give yourself time. Good luck & God bless. 🙏🏻
Cecilia and Christoffer, it’s a privilege to follow along on your adventures. As an introvert I’ve been impressed by Christoffer’s openness to try what must have been very hard for him at first. Love seeing him beam with happiness over this cabin. May you both have many, many years enjoying it.
almost had an anxiety attack just now, but i know that your videos are calm and beautiful so i can distract myself without being overwhelmed! thanks for helping to soothe me every now and then
And just when I thought your videos couldn't be anymore beautiful, a slice of heaven, sheer beauty, exquisite in it's isolation, quiet peace and solitude. So much lies ahead, how exciting and wonderful for you all!
For your drying area you may want to consider a wall mounted pull out drying rack. We used them at home because they allowed for more circulation & clothing dried faster.
@@brendatruant7404they could have a ceiling pulley, where the clothes are placed and you hoist it up to the ceiling with a thin rope and everything will dry very quickly and doesn’t take up any space.
When i was a child we had a cabin a bit like that. We were there whole summer. Only thing we had was electricity, no tv, no water, no phone. If we had to call someone, we had to go to my dad's brother's house to do that. One of the most memorable moments of my life was when my mom and dad listened the radio while i was supposed to sleep. The program was called "luontoilta" in Finnish. I hope you have the most memorable moments over there in your cabin ♥️
You know what struck me is the previous owners used the cabin PRE emergency text message technology. If they had a dire situation it was do or die. I respect their bravery.
Would love to see a video from Grim's perspective. Not sure how easy it is to strap a GoPro to a dog for a few hours, but either in the town in Svalbard, or out in the tundra, would be such a cool (and cute) perspective! :D
Because of this channel, I’ve fallen in love with the beauty of Norway. I’ve decided when I retire, I’ll be moving there. I’m taking Norwegian language lessons and looking at different cities. I have cats so Slavbard is out of the question, but I definitely want to visit.
I just got back from Alaska. I’ve always been drawn to go there and finally did and fell in love with it. The nature, the beauty was magnificent. I’m going back next year to venture more. You always have a way of story telling so it’s palpable to us. I feel the cold and the warmth of the coffee! I’m so happy for you both and it’s evident how happy Christopher is 😊 too. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I was a little surprised at how little emergency food you have unless maybe you had more that you didn’t show us but I think I would definitely have a 30 day supply of food myself… but what do I know about Svalbard ?!? 😆 Cheers to you both!!
Oh my goodness, Cecilia - I was one of those who said 'Why? When you already have an ideal cabing in the wilderness' but seeing how excited Christoffer gets at being there and the renovation plans it makes perfect sense, not to mention how excited Grim is out in wilder surroundings. Bravo👏👏👏
A drying rack that you can raise and lower over the stove would be useful and a great way to maximize the space. Great for drying towels and what not as well. Thank god for IKEA. It’s amazing to me that the previous owners got everything to the cabin in the first place! What a cozy, comfortable space. What an adventure!
Oh I love it!! 😍 I grew up in a wooden farmhouse that had slatted walls and boxed in windows just like that ❤️ To make the kitchen feel bigger and brighter, I would paint the wood white, leave the cabinets green obviously. The rest of the cabin can stay wood. And for extra clothing storage at the entrance (especially for wet clothes!) there are racks that you can suspend from the ceiling or the wall, you hang them above the fire stove and dry your clothes on there, I‘m pretty sure you‘ve seen them 🙂
Back when mh husband was alive, we camped(tent and van) and enjoyed the isolation that you talk about. This was before cell phones envaded our lives. It was great! Time to enjoy nature, be present, enjoy each others company and conversation. So happy for you all, that you have found this treasure and a dream is unfolding!😊❤
I would absolutely hate living this life. However I love seeing people who love this life, live it. Why they love it and how they deal with it. Thank you for making these videos.
Isn't that the beauty of TH-cam? I'm a country side girl and follow young people living their best life in New York, doing all the city stuff. I would hate that life, but i love watching people living their best life 😍 And its hard to not love relaxing videos like Cecilias ❤
I haven’t watched one of your videos for a while and I absolutely love hearing Christopher talk so much more. He always seemed very interesting to me and his becoming so much more talkative really makes the video even more interesting.
Cristoffer is in his element. He’s so happy. Honey, I’m 63. I’ve spent the majority of my life offline. If a pay phone wasn’t available and/or if we didn’t have the dime to pay for it, we were stuck
I would just love a month alone in a place like this, just to relax and explore. I think it would change my life for the better.. you always make it look so cozy and amazing ❤
When I was growing up, we had a cottage in a small Northern Ontario town called Matachewan. I still remember our little cottage to this day. Cottages can be magical.
My dad from no later than the 1980s until the pre-2010 2000s or so was with his sisters co-owner of a cottage on the east side of Lake Simcoe. That cottage, as close as it had been to Beaverton in Brock Township, still felt quite far from civilization even with a septic system to store sewage and drawing water from the lake. As much as I enjoyed life at that cottage, the younger of the two sisters decided to try to make such significant improvements that he claimed it would be just too much to keep co-owning the cottage and sold his share to her. Maintenance wasn't easy considering that cottage had never been winterized during his co-ownership of it. That said, I grew to appreciate over the years traveling to rural areas and staying there for days at a time, with trips I would take, after the sale of the cottage, but before covid would spread around the world and change so much of daily life for years to come, to the British Isles, with visits to many rural areas on the main islands of Great Britain and Ireland. Although I don't see myself ever living as remotely as Cecilia or her partner, I have come to appreciate video docs of what life in one of the most northerly civilian settlements is. CFS Alert may be the most northerly inhabited settlement but it is a military base that I probably will never get to even visit. That said, I've watched videos about that military base and probably won't want to stay there during the winter given how far north it is (so far north that polar night is typically from October to February and midnight sun is from April to August). I live in Southern Ontario just 200 km or so from the Northern Hemisphere's 45th parallel, with, given the latitude at which I live: - sunrise pretty much anywhere from 5.30 a.m. or so until almost 8 a.m. - sunset as late as a bit after 9 p.m. or so but as early as slightly before 5 p.m. Sunrises as early as they are typically happen in May, June and July. At this time of year sunrises feel like they're closer to 7 a.m., the sun sets sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. Perhaps as soon as October there will be snow on the ground in the far northern parts of each province although some episodes of Jade Fever that I've watched featured scenes of snow in the Cassiar Mountains region of BC as soon as September. Perhaps snow has already begun to accumulate on the ground in parts of that western province.
@@LisaDeeCanada When I think of bitter-cold weather, I also think of Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal, but also various cities in the Midwest and Northeast of the contiguous US. The only weather-related delay to a flight that up to and including 2014 had come during the summer, with the initial change of arrival airport, of the first leg of that 2-leg flight, from JFK to LaGuardia, with the rescheduled flight I had taken into Israel proper, having been scheduled to depart, which it did, from Newark Airport. The original flight series, on the way to Israel proper, was to have involved the first flight from Pearson to JFK and the second from JFK to Ben Gurion, but severe thunderstorms had prompted the postponement of the Canada-to-NYC-metro-area flight from that given night to the following morning Eastern Daylight Time. February 2015 featured flights between Pearson Airport and BC, lower mainland for a few days in Whistler, but I was concerned that quite possibly there would be severe enough winter weather to delay either of the flights, perhaps for days. Back then severe winter storms had often delayed or cancelled flights either bound for or departing from the northeast of the contiguous US. although neither 2015 flight in question was affected by severe weather, any travel during the northern hemisphere winter comes with the risk of severe delays because of the timing of winter storms.
Cecilia, been watching about a year. First came across by searching Northern Lights on TH-cam. I completely think the life you, Christopher & Grim have is AMAZING! Since my husband passed away, I moved back to mainland from Hawaii to be closer to family. I find myself searching for Peace which is why I admire your life so much!!!!! 💕 Congratulations 🎉😊on your new Cabin!!!💕
As someone who's family own an off-grid cabin in the mountains, i know you're on an exciting and relaxing journey. Sitting by the window doing puzzle with a hot drink, is so relaxing, highly recommend.
I’m so excited to get to know Christopher better as he lives his dreams with Cecilia at the cabin. It warm my heart to see his excitement on how to make improvements. Cecilia, I know you will do great on your selection on new furnishings! Can’t wait!!!
I love how happy Christoffer is 🥰 his personality is really shining through. I know he prefers behind the scenes but we all love him so much. I can’t wait to see what you and he do with the cabin. It’s gonna be even cozier I just know it. Thank you for sharing your life and adventures with us. I feel like I’m there instead of New Jersey ♥️
You wouldn’t be in a place like Svalbard if you weren’t interested in having an off grid cabin! It’s all part of the incredible experience living so far north!❤🇨🇦
Stunningly Beautiful and the simplicity looks and sounds so dreamy to me. We ALL NEED a place to unplug from all the constant chaos that drowns us in unnecessary stress.
Since the prior owners were smokers, you may want to do a good wash down of all the walls. You will be amazed how fresh they will look and smell once the nicotine residue is removed. Love the cabin and it's coziness!
My mom smoked for all her adult life. When my parents were gone amd we looked at the furniture in the daylight, no one wanted any of the things that had textiles. The stale smell and the discoloration were terrible!! The walls and ceilings were stained, especially where she sat all the time. Don't be sentimental. Look at everything with a critical eye. Remember the whole environment will be closed in the winter, and any transient odors that you didn't notice with the windows and doors open will be magnified when the area is enclosed and heated. That smell and the stuff left behind on all surfaces is disgusting. I know your refreshing of the cabin will be wonderful and so comfortable. I'm looking forward to this journey. ❤
Cigarette/cigar/pipe smoke leaves an amazing amount of residue on the walls and ceiling (along with all the other items in a room). Washing the walls and ceiling with water and baking soda is often a fantastic deodorizer. Getting rid of the fabrics will be a big help, but may not be enough. There are also several chemical cleaners but the baking soda is the cheapest and least toxic.
As a subscriber from Georgia. USA, I am fascinated by these videos and your resourcefulness living in this solitude. The scenery is so haunting and beautiful. Looking forward to your improvements to the new cabin. I love the green color in the kitchen.
Ok, so right off the top of my head, first design impressions & ideas (really only kinda, it's not my first time seeing the cabin), absolutely love the kitchen as is, especially the colour. Green &/or yellow are my all time favourite kitchen colours. Also love the window & would definitely remove the chunky wooden valance above it. Recycle it to another place in the kichen (or elsewhere), to use as a shelf & add hooks underneath to hang linens -dish towels, oven mitts, pot holders, or utensils, or pots, pans, or the vintage Svalbard coffee mugs & put the coffees, teas, hot chocolate & sugars on top. Aside from it causing a safety issue, i would want every possible square centimeter of view & sunshine fully un-obstructed. With that in mind, whatever type of window covering used, should be installed so that it completely clears the framing. That way, it almost looks like there is no curtain/shade, so you maximize your connection to outside. Actually, would do that on every window. [EDIT: living room windows kinda already look like that]. I stopped checking out Ikea products years ago, (it makes me sad cause i can't afford/don't need anything, but have a dream of completely outfitting a home with nothing but Ikea stuff 😆). Anyway, i believe they have a folding stool, -metal with round wood seat that you could hang on the wall below the window, so you sit while having morning coffee/breakfast or chatting to someone outside. I don't know why, but i find the window is really sweet (totally get your comfort connection to the spot) & think it could be a spot of peaceful solitude & personal reflextion, -daydreaming 😆) as well as a social hub, interacting with a person outside, possibly making a meal together, -prepping inside, cooking inside & out, then eating outside. Whoever came up with an air bladder for raising buildings instead of mechanical jacks was brilliant. You've probably done it by now, so hope it went well & y'all are leveled out & no longer walking up & down like you're walking in a moving ship. Others have mentioned how joyful you both seem while there. It really shows with Christofer, he's become quite the happy, chatty extrovert. 😆 I totally get it though. One winter, before such things as cell phones, i spent a weekend with friends in their off-grid cabin a few hours north of our homes in Montreal, Quebec. I then stayed alone for the week till they came back the next weekend. My parents had just returned to Montreal when my dad retired from working in East Africa for years. There had been times when they had been totally unreachable for weeks & none of us were particularly concerned about it. So i found it a little strange when my dad remarked he had concerns that i would have no means of communicating & no vehicle for 5 days. It was really just a casual remark, but for some reason, it put a bee in my big bro's brain & he harassed me for a week trying to guilt-trip me over "abandoning" our parents for 8 days. Unfortunately, i let it be known there were people living in the area full time, so they had landline phones. I thought that them knowing that would be good enough, but my brother insisted i make arrangements to meet the closest one & impose myself on them to phone home after 5 days. I didn't mind the almost 3K roundtrip walk, but hated inflicting myself on a stranger & intertupting my blissful week of solitude. I feel it will be a sad day when we can no longer say, "Sorry, we won't be able to call/text each other cause there's no service where i'm going."
Just when I thought I couldn't love your content more! I'm so excited for this new chapter and can't wait to see how you make the cabin your own. Love the coffee window 😂
Probably an idea to get some water purification tablets to keep in your emergency storage area just in case 😊 I always carry some when I go camping and having them just helps me feel secure in case something does happen and I run out of water that I’ve bought with me. You can also get water filter bottles that might be a good idea too. Can’t wait to see what you do to the cabin this winter ❄️
Thank you for sharing this amazing video! Cristoffer is generally a happy fellow, but you can really see how happy this cabin purchase has made him. He’s more talkative and he smiles constantly. Can’t wait to see the adventures you will have at your offgrid cabin!
i love that you try to keep its charm, at least for the kitchen. Will be amazing when you will finish, but i must say that all this planning, and imagining everything, is so fun and exciting. Hugs to all three of you!
Making my morning coffee while watching you make your morning coffee 😌 I can't wait to see how you update this cabin. Although I love how cute and cozy it is, I definitely agree with your desired updates. Hope it all goes well!
Cecilia and Christopher, thank you. I live in a city of millions, so I am enjoying all of your adventures. Christopher, in our house, the cook does not have to also wash the dishes! You might think of getting the water purification pills for "just in case" scenarios. There are also water thermos filters which hikers use that take 99.9% of the bad stuff out of water. (You prob know that!) Water that is stored in plastic, whether for washing or drinking, I am told must have some form of purification in it, as bacteria grows in the plastic containers. You can use 4 to 5 drops of unscented chlorine bleach. Best not to use the water if it is stored for more than 3 months. (My parents had an off grid cabin up north in Canada for 15 years. Kerosene oil lamps, propane fridge, a big wood stove, and a water pipe to the lake that could be used for 3 seasons. Not as extremely remote as you, but for months no one around. They stored food and flour in aluminum boxes, my mum baked bread. No polar bears, just moose and wolves!) See you next time!
Agree about the water. On our boat we would store water in plastic jugs at first without purification tablets, only after a few days it began to stink, yes, accelerated by the heat of the summer but still bacteria can grow.
What a life!!! That cabin is just so incredibly thought out from walkways to bathroom, storage rooms, emergency areas and available water! How about a Brita or Pur water filter pitcher for emergencies? I am just loving it!!! Grim asleep on the couch with cozy wood stove... He is also living his best life!😍 Can't wait for polar night! Safe travels home to Svalbard!
Brita filters and similar ones don't filter out bacteria from the water; they just make it taste better. For survival purposes you need a filter system like people use for backpacking.
First of all, congratulations on the new cabin! Slowing down is becoming harder to do with the demands of modern living. You're blessed with that resource being so readily available. As an introvert, I would love the peace and quiet. I love nature; my husband (also an introvert) less so, but does appreciate it, thanks to the influence of his parents. I would likely thrive and my health would likely improve in your environment. I love the darker winter months; I also prefer cold over warm. I would love for my husband and I to visit Svalbard, but that would take a lot of planning and saving. You have no idea how therapeutic this video was for me. After a month of pneumonia (and still struggling to recover) and a close death in my family in another state over 1,000 miles away, your content was sorely needed. Thank you. We are also in the process of planning improvements for our home. Like you, I make drawings of each room, but I use grid paper instead. One square equals one foot; I measure out each wall of a room, then draw down to scale on the grid paper. I then take the measurements of each piece of furniture or appliance and arrange them in the drawing. It gives me a clearer idea of whether an idea will work. I have a spiral notebook of grid paper that I've reserved for our home's renovation. Each room or addition has its own page. I also have a separate page for the measurements of all our appliances and major pieces of furniture for easy reference. I've done the same for our windows.
Wow, the timing, the logistics, and the planning that’s involved in something such as simply ordering furniture is just mind-blowing. Not to mention the forethought of knowing what you need in terms of supplies, and consideration for low and high tide, etc…hats off to you. It’s impressive. Can’t wait to see the cabin transformation!
Hello just want to say my husband and I watch your channel EVERY night. Whether it be a new one or old. I’ve watched them over and over again. We watch on the tv in bed at night. Love your channel and you both are great ,very interesting and I never think to comment because we watch on the tv. But I decided to let you know how much you help. Also your hard work for to make this look effortlessly is amazing. You are so talented and we love Grim too. So THANK YOU!
That’s the real reason there’s a window in the kitchen for easy coffee re fills! 😂❤ love this cabin! The views and vibes are amazing. Congratulations!!
When you replace the curtains, you should get them the same color as the cupboards so that the vibe continues throughout the cabin in a subtle way. That would be super cute. I'm so happy Christoffer got to see his dream come true. How amazing after 10 years of planning. I have loved watching him warm up to being on camera over the years. You both are such gems and a wonderful couple together. I hope you have many more happy years on Svalbard.
Oh, Christopher and Cecilia, you have found my dream home. That may be the most beautiful spot on Earth. Equally, that cabin may be the most perfect shelter. What I see is truly heaven. I am so happy for you both.
Cecilia, it is such a joy to have a glimpse into your life in an entirely different area of the world! I am from the US but my nephew married an amazing girl from Sweden (she actually looks a lot like you!) and I have been lucky enough to visit your country. I enjoyed Stockholm, but loved Jukkasjärvi so much. We also visited Narvik, Norway. I am a warm weather girl myself, but seeing your life up there is so intriguing! Thank you so much for sharing your stories with us. I am sending you a big, WARM hug from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
This is just a dream life for me. I am so tired and fed up with modern life and all the noise, intrusion and conflict. Your videos are always incredibly uplifting a nourishing for the soul. Love the plans you have made for the new furniture - I can't wait to see what arrives from IKEA.
I think the water from the island is probably 100 times better and purer than the bottled water from the inland. Would be worth sending it to the lab and checking. Thousands and thousands years ago people didn't have bottled water or tap water. We drank water from the streams and rivers , it's the best natural water a man can get. Love your cabin 😍
The water itself may be pure, but at any point an animal could poop in it, die in it/close to it upstream, and then it's not safe to drink anymore. Also in the past, many people didn't drink water because it wasn't safe, so they made things like weak beer to drink.
@@celticlass8573 It is a fast running stream water, it is self-cleaning, there is no way a small animal waste can harm it. It is being diluted every second it flows down, through the sands and gravels. What can be better that a pure glacier water, never touched by the man, never polluted with plastic , parabens or other chemicals ?
@@kittykatty2898 No matter how "self-cleaning" it is, a dead deer in the water isn't going to mean clean water when they go to drink from it. The distance from the source isn't enough. It's also not just about bits and pieces, there would be things like nasty bacteria. Even in the Scottish Highlands, where the ground has a lot more that can act as a filter, people know not to drink from the streams and creeks because who knows what's in it upstream.
These videos help me so much right now as I'm in need of this level of offgrid alone time that Svalbard provides. I can actually feel how my stress levels drop just thinking abt how it feels to sit in the sun outside this cabin and just listen to the quiet. It's the second best option to actually being there.
So great to watch you and Christopher so lit up with this beautiful new adventure. You are both so creative with your house , Christopher’s workshop, your boat, cooking and your business and your PHOTOGRAPHY and now this amazing new cabin. So happy to be along on your journey❤️
Now you're serious about being off the grid! Glad to see somebody actually doing it instead of just talking about it...it sounds like your Swedish (Norge?) and that would help with the intense winter darkness, most people couldn't handle it. I lived in Sweden for 4 years so got a taste of it. Tack!
You are not far from 1 million subscribers!!! Amazing!!! And, I find it hilarious that you don't live off-grid and secluded enough, you had to buy another "rustic" cabin to get away! LOL
I've been learning Norwegian for the last ~year and watching Cecilia's videos is so helpful because I can really listen to the Norwegian and try to work it out in English before looking at the captions - also the videos are SO STUNNING, I'm in love with this channel
This video had everything! Adventure! Grim being classic doggie that eats what he shouldn't! Hilarious Christoffer! Amazing views! Exciting projects! I've never even met you guys and I'm just so happy for Christoffer, getting this amazing off-grid cabin! This is EXCITING!!!!! And thanks for taking us along! wheeeeeeee
Nothing better then staying in your PJ/ lounger pants and slippers and working outside. Christopher is in his elements. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. It sure is amazing
I love when you and Christoffer speak Swedish because while I’m learning Norwegian, I hear you say things that I’m able to understand. Such a beautiful episode today. Takk!
@@theresamnsota3925 I started learning in 2017 thanks to Sabaton. They headlined a show in Arizona and played Karolinens Bön (swedish lyrics to Caroleans Prayer) and when I lined up for my turn at the meet n greet they asked me if I was a native swedish speaker because they heard me in the audience and I sounded like a native. That inspired me to be that fluent the next time I encounter then (they stopped meet n greets in 2018 :( )
I just love your new cabin, so cozy and peaceful. Love the kitchen with the 'takeout' window . So happy for you guys, especially Christoffer. Your two furry boys are so sweet together ❣️

Will you keep both cabins?
@@KrisHaffneryes she will
Hey Cecilia you could put a rod to dye/hang clothes either by the fire place or where Chris is sitting @ 19:17. Even a shower rod would work
You can tell that Christopher loves being at the cabin. He is so smiley and talkative.😊
I know he is so natural there and spontaneously interacting with us. Be careful Cecilia Christopher may never leave. This new side of living in Svalbard adds such a new dimension to the videos and I’m sure amazing adventures.
I knew some Skogstads in Minnesota. Their family came from Norway.
@@lars277 My husband’s family is from Norway, my family is as well.
Way more talkative! Positively excited. It's lovely to see.
Yess❤
Am I the only one who is thrilled that Chris is much more comfortable on camera and being filmed? I have loved following this channel for years and watching the evolution. Love, love, love that you allow me to follow along Cecilia! Thank you for the videos.
It’s been a hell of a ride, totally agree about Christopher he is fantastic, look forward to seeing how this amazing cabin comes along
Agreed 😍
Was just thinking the same thing!!
Yes I love that he's showing us more of his personality and becoming more comfortable ❤ I also love seeing how skillful he is.
Christopher seems like a natural in front of the camera. 📷 love this new cabin! What a great find!
Cecilia, I never get tired of how much you love every day. When it’s bright and hot you say, “It’s beautiful.” When it’s cold and dark you say, “This is just amazing.” And, “Look at this.”
Who else is REALLY EXCITED to see the evolution of the new cabin!! ❤
Christopher has an impeccable sense of humour and the cabin is bringing ALL of it out!! 🤣
😂😂🧡🧡
Gorgeous season at your wonderful cabin. It's great to see Cristoffer so open and happy.
You could get a beautiful stainless steel Burkey counter-top water filter cannister for the glacier water, then you wouldn't have to haul water in from Longyearbyen exceptin winter. I know glacier water can have unhelpful microbes in it sometimes. I've drunk it before in Canada. It's delicious, but it's best to be safe.
Christopher seems like the kind of guy I’d love to have a beer with. A “regular dude“.
I’m just amazed at how I consider your regular home to be too “off the grid” for me, but for the two of you, it’s not far enough off the grid. This will be a fun adventure to follow.
Off grid just means not being dependent on public utilities such as electricity. You don't have to be far away to be off grid.
Every single video I am constantly amazed at Cecelia's ability to make you feel it. It's not just reading about it or watching a video, you TRULY feel the magic ❤️
Well said!

9/24/24 Make that GRIM with one ‘m’. He prefers that spelling.
GRIMMM!
I feel that when Cecilia says “we” bought a cabin, that includes me and almost 900k other people, I’m also exited about the new adventures, thank you for bring us along!
Imagine the time share 🤣
Imagine the party at their cabin 😅
I can't wait to see what it looks like come winter!!
I know it’s wonderful. These are the times we are living in and it’s great that we can live and learn about a place on the other side of the globe (in almost real time) and that individual creators get the rewards (rather than huge media conglomerates -ok thank you TH-cam - but I’m talking about creators getting percentages)).
Christoffer has been beaming these last few videos!!! How wonderful for him to have his dream realises after a decade. Congratulations 🎉❤
A new tradition! Coffee through the window! I love it!
I agree! It's like their own little drive thru (walk thru, haha)!
@@pippa3150🎉window trim from inside kitchen would be cute as inverted flower box 🎉for under walk-up window. Adorable wooden work in original...❤
They just need a rack to hang the bed comforters outside!
That cheeky coffee refill please through the window was priceless. You are both so happy in your gorgeous little cabin. Thank you for sharing
True. He seems more relaxed, more participatory, less "hostage". 😂
Cecilia, you're not fooling anyone. You bought a new cabin because you love decorating so much! Ikea must love getting orders from you! It looks awesome, hope you have many happy years there. Love your videos. 😊
You nailed it.😂
I'm just getting over apainful divorce.your videos give me such peace& joy thank you.Kisses to grim!
💔, praying for your heart and spirit to heal 😢.
I don't usually watch commercials on you tube, but never miss a Grimm commercial. 🙂 He is adorable!!! Love the cabin.
Cecilia and Christoffer, it’s a privilege to follow along on your adventures. As an introvert I’ve been impressed by Christoffer’s openness to try what must have been very hard for him at first. Love seeing him beam with happiness over this cabin. May you both have many, many years enjoying it.
I think I can tell how happy Christoffer is by him wearing ALL of his comfy clothes at once. Matching? SCHMatching! It's comfy!
Christopher is glowing😊 you guys look so happy, this cabin is exciting stuff
I love how animated Christoffer is at the new cabin, you can tell he's really excited about it
Nobody could have shown Svalbard more beautifully than you do.♥️ Thank you Cecilia💟
almost had an anxiety attack just now, but i know that your videos are calm and beautiful so i can distract myself without being overwhelmed! thanks for helping to soothe me every now and then
Get Cecilia an IKEA sponsorship stat!
A bunch of bad quality poisonous crap from China? No thanks. They can do better than that.
Great idea!
Or stupidity! 😅
We just visited Norway and every town/ city we visited was so lovely. I found myself saying I could live here,at every one!
I would love too live in Norway too. So beautiful. 🐨
When you already have an ideal cabing
in the wilderness' but seeing how excited Christoffer gets at being there and the renovation plans it makes perfect sense, not to mention how excited Grim is out in wilder surroundings.
I absolutely love that charming little kitchen and the window being an off grid version of a drive up window.
My favorite part is the "takeout" window in the kitchen!
I love the kitchen window and the colour of the kitchen.
@@anitatroyer2066yes! Hello 🤗 from Poland and my countryside channe! 🐶
And for extra clothing storage at the entrance (especially for wet clothes!) there are racks that you can suspend from the ceiling or the wall, you hang them above the fire stove and dry your clothes on there, I‘m pretty sure you‘ve seen them 🙂
It’s so great that you and Christopher found each other and enjoy the same things! And Grimm is a darling!
9/24/24: GRIM prefers one ‘m’.
Grim is by far my VERY FAVORITE advertising spokesman!!! I could never tire of that sweet furry face!!! Love ❤️
Again, I NEVER listen to the ads - forward through them. All except for Grim’s. Honestly, they are the BEST!!!! ❤
The ads with Grim are terrific, BUT I never skip the ads on TH-cam. It’s important for the creators (ie Cecilia) to get the revenue.
Well, you should watch a few but whatever!!!
Grim is such a lucky dog to live with these two wonderful people.
It all looks so peaceful, Christopher looks so happy and in his element..hugs to you,Christopher and of course Sir Grimm♥️♥️♥️
I haven’t watched one of your videos for a while and I absolutely love hearing Christopher talk so much more. He always seemed very interesting to me and his becoming so much more talkative really makes the video even more interesting.
Just a suggestion…Take a screen shot of your low/high tide guide for reference when you are at your main cabin. Looks like a great getaway!
It's online, multiple places 😉
I have never seen Chris smile so much! Happy for you both!😊
Cristoffer is in his element. He’s so happy. Honey, I’m 63. I’ve spent the majority of my life offline. If a pay phone wasn’t available and/or if we didn’t have the dime to pay for it, we were stuck
Honestly feeling genuine and pure joy for Christopher. He seems so happy.
All 3 of you look so happy. Fun to see Christopher grinning and smiling and excited ( in his own wonderful way).
I live in Southern Ontario just 200 km or so from the Northern Hemisphere's 45th parallel, with, given the latitude at which I live:
- sunrise pretty much anywhere from 5.30 a.m. or so until almost 8 a.m.
@@wainber1 I love and miss southern Ontario weather. Winnipeg's weather reminds me more of Cecilia's weather.
How peaceful & beautiful! Imagine living there & having Cecilia as a neighbor 😊
Cecilia, Be sure to put one of your books in there for when someone else takes over in 30 more years...
Congratulations 🎉😊on your new Cabin!!!💕
I’m so glad you’re keeping the kitchen cabinets green. I love it so much! Love the whole vibe of the place. ❤
🤣 Christopher’s “alright, alright, alright!” Lolol
That was so cute!
McConawho?
And his little smile right after. Love it! 😊
I know I also feel like they aren't taking that serious enough, the wood would have really soaked it all in too
@@thesweetestbear There are special nicotine cleaners and you wouldn't believe what they pull out of stuff.
Christopher is just living his best life.
I've been watching for years and my mind was just blown that you don't have 1 million subscribers. You are so deserving and will hit it very soon!!
Christopher is genuinely in good spirits. Good on him!!
I am so glad for you both, and especially for Christopher. He seems to radiate happiness in these videos!
@@patriciapoot1180 It does seem odd, at first, that clean water into a clean jug will still grow bacteria, but it does!
Oh and need to build a little small portable ledge of drift wood that can be put out and pulled in, to put stuff on.
Or, a green and white gingham!
My favorite cozy Sunday treat- I spend my kids nap times in Svalbard ❤
For me where you currently live is cabin enough. I love love love all that you share and your dreams, and that you are both so happy!
Christopher working in his green slippers is everything.
Christopher looks so chill and content. Down to his soul 🙌🏼. And that cozy kitchen with the adorable window? It’s perfect ❤
I would make a tunel from the cabin to the outhouse. I cannot imagine going in the middle of the night to the bathroom and a polar bear appearing! 😱😱😱
Tack!
I am delighted that Christoffer's dream/wish has come true! It's simply an indescribable feeling! I hope you enjoy your cabin for a very long time 😍
You are not far from 1 million subscribers!!! Amazing!!!
And, I find it hilarious that you don't live off-grid and secluded enough, you had to buy another "rustic" cabin to get away! LOL

They headlined a show in Arizona and played Karolinens Bön (swedish lyrics to Caroleans Prayer) and when I lined up for my turn at the meet n greet they asked me if I was a native swedish speaker because they heard me in the audience and I sounded like a native. That inspired me to be that fluent the next time I encounter then (they stopped meet n greets in 2018 :( )
Love this for you!!
I just love your new cabin, so cozy and peaceful. Love the kitchen with the 'takeout' window . So happy for you guys, especially Christoffer. Your two furry boys are so sweet together ❣️
