    When you connect using the DIY mode, will it disable the ewlink control on the app? Or both will still working?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      It disables the app, but you can go back to the app later. Flashing custom firmware doesn't offer the same flexibility although the backup can be used to restore the original firmware

    Is there a device within the Sonoff product range or from another supplier that you would recommend as best for opening and locking an outside security gate which uses a magnetic bar lock, keeping in mind ;
    1. The lock is powered by a 12V power supply.
    2. The lock requires to be energised to lock and maintain locking ( NC circuit )
    3. Whichever device you recommend, must be compatible with the eWeLink App, and can be WiFi or ZigBee RF or preferably both if possible.

      The only product for sonoff 4ch pro has dry contacts and NC NO config available

    I'm actually developing a docker container that will do most of the things required automatically, and leave you with a sonoff device associated to your wifi and ready to be used in diy mode. What you do is simply run the docker on your home assistant machine for example (your machine have to have a wifi interface), the docker then would setup the AP needed for the sonoff device, and it will then send the commands to the sonoff to associate it to your main wifi network. you can leave the docker running all the time so that it will automatically associate a sonoff when it will discover one.

      also, in my experience, when the firmware update fails at 90% the device is actually already updated and restarted, but it will disconnect from the app because now the sonoff device is already looking for the special diy SSID

      It is a bit daft process to go through. One would think that updating firmware should not be this complicated

    • @RunTheTape
      @RunTheTape 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      NotEnoughTECH you don’t have to replace the firmware. It is working perfectly fine in home assistant as is.

      @@RunTheTape I was referring to issues with firmware updates. Each time I have a sonoff device I can only update it via hotspot from my mobile device

      NotEnoughTECH my docker will handle that as well. Firmware update to tasmota/esphome. What will not handle though because of the proprietary nature is the first firmware update from 3.0 to 3.3+

    How can I extend the range of my RfR3 Switch with 433mzh remote. My range is very limited like 5 meters.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a fair bit of interference. RF has decent range on its own so I'd investigate different positions of that's the case

    Hi there. More frustration here! I've bought the Sonoff BASIC R3 last week, but after doing the wiring and pressing the button for seven seconds, as per the manual, the LED doesn't flicker at all. What could be the problem? Did they send me a dead device, or perhaps the RF Smart Switch instead? How do I know if the Sonoff is not broken? The input side shows 220V, but the output shows 0V.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you able to toggle the output with a single press of the button? If no then it might be a damaged unit. If so, arrange the replacement with the shop customer service.

    They need to make it possible to use mqtt. Then it is a good way to use the DIY mode

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the real use cases - I don't think there is much advantage of using MQTT for relays. I guess it's down to the preference really. I agree the more choice the better, but once you have HTTP requests you are good to go really

      @@notenoughtech yes, but with mqtt I have the ability to get feedback real easy. I can link commands to other devices. This way some commands do not need to be processed by my raspberry pi, but can be handled straight from the controller. I have used Sonoff Basic for the ventilation system and a Sonoff Touch for the lights inside the bathroom. When pressed for 5 seconds, you can turn on the ventilation system and with a simple press you can turn on the lights.

      If you are doing it in the local mode, use the hostname (or DNS globally) and you will be ok, MQTT needs the server config as well

  • @SRSaumyaranjan
    @SRSaumyaranjan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you are using DIY mode then you already have a custom firmware . You can just add or enable Wemo emulation to work with smart speakers . Custom firmware never limits you for HTTP mode or node red . IFTT MQTT HTPP ... your wish boss !
