This pack came to fame in Frozen Planet, and now cameraman Jeff Turner spends a year with Storm and his wolf family, learning how they survive in this harsh wilderness and whether Storm can pass his hunting skills on to the new generation of wolf cubs.

      Wolves are pack animals, what makes them successful is their ability to work together and know their job in this situation. Plus wolves are better at running down things and wearing them out before the kill. Bear doesn’t stand a chance against that stamina.

    One of the things that intrigue me about Wolves is their ability to live in packs (their sense of community), but also their ability to survive all alone in the wild. They are one of the few predatory animals who can do that. But yes, like someone in the comment section stated, a pup needs a pack to survive the first few months/years and learn how to hunt, before it would have chance to survive as a lone wolf in the wild.
    A bear couldn't catch an adult wolf. But if it did, the wolf is dead meat.

    • @MichaelGiordano777

      " their ability to survive alone in the wild"? The Wolverines take the cake in that category pal. I saw one in the middle of a blizzard relentlessly taking on a big male Elk in Canada . Guess who eventually won that battle alone? The Wolverine. They truly are amazing animals. Love them .

    Wolves are sooo beautiful! Maybe it's because i grew up with dogs since i was an infant, but they seem so human. Sometimes they seem more human than some people I've encountered. They're tender with each other, and loving. Even some of their body language seems human. Amazing animals, i love them!

    • @CllConnie
      @CllConnie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @BothHands1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@CllConnie Yeah, but humans also sacrifice each other for their overall survival. Wolves have a lot of the same ugly sides that humanity has too, which is what makes them seem even more human and relatable.

    • @JohnSmith-wx9wj
      @JohnSmith-wx9wj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That's actually why humanity and wolves have both an affinity and conflict for each other. We tend to occupy the same environmental niches, which leads to war. However, they can be integrated into our family structures smoothly, leading to dogs. Wolves are quite as good with this, but dogs naturally pick up on human gestures (such as pointing) and body language better than any other species, including primates. They have similar muscle structures in their faces, making them aware of a human's facial expressions. I've tried teaching my dogs how to talk (just imitations, not actual conversation), but they don't have muscles in their lips, making most sounds impossible.

      Lee Baldwin yeah they might be pretty but there population needs to be watched. In Montana they have a bad problem with wolves killing cattle so people are given licenses to kill them. Wolves don’t have a lot of natural predators so they reproduce pretty quickly. So no we can’t really leave them alone.

    • @delta1525
      @delta1525 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Stolman 01 Wolves aren't overpopulated, their populations have just become inconvenient for humans. They wouldn't be killing cattle if we didn't destroy their habitats to grow the food for the cattle in the first place. It's very much a human driven issue and one that is only going to get worse as demand for animal products increases.
      Plus, hunting for population control isn't a very good argument, as there are other tried and tested methods of controlling populations, such as contraceptive darts.
      Indeed, if we stop deforestation for the cattle to graze, the issue wouldn't be a significant problem and nature would be able to regulate itself for efficiently.
      Then there is the issue of whether officials are intentionally keeping the wolf populations high artifically by promoting them to reproduce. The DNR does this with deer to sell hunting licenses, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do it with other animals too.

    It's amazing how much discretion is displayed in these battles between predators. The bear pretty quickly realized that he was in danger and that getting away was probably his best option, and the wolves also knew that if it came to violence they were likely to take severe casualties to at least one or two of the pack so the strategy of luring him away and avoiding a fight was best.
