mrekk won ANZT (a regional tournament) decisively, beat Mathi to win Yaz's Summer Cup, and got top match cost in every match he played during Corsace Finals/Grand Finals in lobbies with tournament demons like badeu, Utami, WhiteCat, fancy lad etc. he may not have the same level of experience as Vaxei but he has absolutely stepped it up in tourney this past year, he's absolutely one of the best tournament players of 2021 and I do agree, he even had a good showing here. Vaxei is just on a completely different plane of existence

You should see mrekk's nomod and hr scores. He is also an extremely well rounded player and can do tech/alt maps just as good as vaxei. Its his lack of tourney experience and consistency compared to vaxei which makes him lose I feel.
vaxei is more consistent but his limit is limited and mrekk limit is higher but less consistent. the higher consistent player has a better chance of winning but mrekk can hit insane plays in a short time
Come back to osu after 2 years to see Vaxei who was a clear second to Cookiezi when in their primes, is beating current best osu player who people consider "insane" for making inflated pp records like the recent 1241pp map looked very unimpressive and honestly could have been a 800-900pp map
