Matt, I'm new to cnc. Builing my first machine. All done but waiting for my brain to get up to speed on gcode and Inkscape. Your video was eye opening. Really really helped me out a lot. Thank you for doing these videos.
Well, I am working on something absolutely similar with this video; but I need to change the cutter from Cylindrical to Cone and I haven´t find how to create a step to allow the change of the tool in the CNC. I know that perhaps I should be able to do it by hand, you know inserting the correct commands in the gcode. So, I will appreciate if you can give me a little guidance to achieve this step. Regards, and thanks a lot in advance.
Many thanks for these tutos ! Could you do another video to explain how to define a CNC path shifted outside a shape (value of the shift = radius of the cylindrical tool). Like this, the cutted part will have the good dimensions. I think this should be helpfull for a lot of people (like me...). All the best !
Almost 6 years since Part 1?! :) I'm just looking into this plugin today so I didn't have to wait. I just think it's funny to revisit after so long. What have you been doing for the past 6 years? I'm trying CamBam but it would be great to generate my g-code direct from inkscape where I design my parts. I'm going to try this today. Thanks for the videos!
Hi Matt! Thanks for your videos! Is it possible in gcodeTools to set inner or outer engraving for an object? For example I draw a circle shape in Inkscape, and I would like to engrave it, but it's important to set where should the machine cut it with the tool. How can I adjust it? Thanks in advance.
Sorry. I don't understand the question. I will say that most of my knowledge about how to use gcodetools is in these videos so if you don't see your answer there I probably don't know it.
@@MatthewSmith-wh5dr So, I will try to explain it. For example you can engrave a circle shape for two kind of reasons: 1) you need a hole on an object, OR 2) you need to cut a disc shape cutting out from an object. The milling tool has a certain diameter, for example 3 mm. If I draw a circle in Inkscape with 50 mm diameter, I should adjust somehow what I would like to get finally: a 50 mm hole, or a 50 mm disc. The program should count where to engrave depending on the type of shape that I want, and the size of the milling tool. (Inside or outside my circle) Are Inkscape and gcodetools capable of this? Thanks Matt!
@@peterbabucs149 I think I show this process at roughly 2:30 into this video. The "Area" tool allows you to fill an area like a circle with smaller and smaller paths with an overlap of your choice that references the tool diameter.
I got following error : Select one of the action tabs - Path to Gcode, Area, Engraving, DXF points, Orientation, Offset, Lathe or Tools library. Current active tab id is "preferences"

MAN YOU GOT TO MAKE SOME MORE VIDEOS.... YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT PRESENTOR.
Hi Matt! Thank you for this. I would like to ask if it is possible to do different depths for a single shape? Thank you.
Awesome tutorial!!

What about tool change? I want to change the color when draw with cnc machine. Any suggestions?

How can I set it to "on path", "inside" or "outside" as in this video for EASEL?

Thanks for sharing this, Matt, really appreciated :)

Kind of a strange interface as you can't start the process until you go to the "Path to Gcode" tab, then hit the "Apply" button.
the video appears out of focus ?
thank you for the tutorial. can you do tabs ?
