      Thanks. I was surprised to get an assortment like this. I just wanted one sample to try because I had doubts about the technology after seeing all the problems with my Kreg clamps and reading many comments from others with similar problems with their kreg clamps. These actually work great with no problems so far. I held the video and used them for a week to be sure there wouldn't be problems from use that would require changes to the video. When I have problems with a tools usability I constantly search for better options and many times subscriber comments offer great solutions from companies that I had never heard of. I get about 20 offers a week for sponsored videos about just about anything you can imagine anymore plus many emails from subscribers suggesting items I should try but only choose items that look to be high quality and a good fit with my subscribers. Thanks for watching.

    Ed you are causing me to spend more money😁 I ordered the amor pocket hole jig to replace the Kreg jig I bought in the early 2000’s
    And to night ordered the 6 inch Armour auto jig clamp. I to have had the exact problem with the Kreg Automax. I wish Armor had a trade in program for the clamps.

      I get the blame for everything. These clamps are still working fine and I use them all the time. Had nothing but trouble with the Kreg ones I bought. When you get the jig look it over good to make sure it's the new version. Just saw a comment from someone that got an old one yesterday that Armor replaced after being contacted. Thanks for watching.

    I purchased the auto jig last year and love since it much easier that the Kreg jig I had before. Like you I mounted so that I could more easily clamp it to bench, but when you do that you can longer store the driver bit in its place under the jig. Otherwise, I love, love the jig.

      It looks nice but I haven't used it yet. I was told they are sending an upgrade but never heard back from them. Going to make a base as soon as my bench is finished. Thanks for watching.

    Bought the Armor Tool Pocket Hole jig and some clamps and pliers at a woodworking show from an Armor Tool sales rep. The clamps work fine, but the Pocket Hole jig did not. When you would clamp in the board the clamp would let loose and not hold. Tried many adjustments in terms of how firm it clamped with same problem. Contacted them, they did finally replace but it took them a long time. The 2nd jig works fine so far.

      The clamps work really good but I haven't drilled many holes with the jig yet but it does clamp the part very tight. That's why I want to use it a while before making a video. I am surprised it took long to get replaced if there was a problem. I do like that the square drive recess in the screw is a little deeper then the kreg screws and holds on to the bit well. I will definitely keep everyone updated. Thanks for watching.

      Thanks. I guess that I really don't trust any kind of auto clamps after my experience with the Kreg ones I have. I actually put off posting the video for a week so I could spend time using them to see if problems would arise. They have worked great and I think they should last. The only issue so far is I pinched a fingertip when clamping one with my hand in the wrong position and that is not the clamps fault. I will do a good video on the jig once I have a chance to use it for a while and verify it works good. Thanks for watching.

    I'm actually pretty excited you got these. I believe saw a video on these a long time ago from someone else. I was considering buying the k4 or the K5 jig, but I think I'll wait for your official review. the price looks quite reasonable and in line with the Kreg versions. Congrats on the new addition of tools, and thanks for sharing!

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They definitely addressed all the bad points of the kreg jig with this. It is more complex but so far works nice. I really like that all the screws are all outdoor rated and color coded. They seem as strong as the kreg screws but have deeper square drive pockets making the driver lock in better. I was thinking about the k5 but read too many reviews about the clamping having issues. Armor makes an auto clamp that fixes the k4 clamp if you go that way. It's funny because I was afraid to try anymore auto clamps after the kreg clamp experience and these turned out to work reliably. I am 3d printing custom racks to mount them on the new bench now. Thanks for watching.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far no problems with these. I think they should stay that way with the simple cam mechanism they use. I had never heard of Armor tool before but now see that they design the mechanisms of many of the major clamp brands. The handle cushions are smaller and thinner then the kreg clamps but are comfortable in my hand and will let them fit in tighter spots. I think you will find them in your local woodcraft and Rockler stores soon if you want to try one before buying. Thanks for watching.

    What is the fixation with using Robertson/Square drive screws? In a word, they suck. When making pocket hole joints I always use Torx/Star drive screws which do not require exact alignment with drill driver. There is one company which offers Torx/Star drive screws specifically for pocket holes which I highly recommend. I won't name them but they can be acquired from Amazon or any Big Box Store. If Armor wants me to buy their tool, they should offer Torx/Star drive screws as well as what they are selling now.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the spax screws for larger load rated screws but don't see a need for the torx type screws for pocket holes McFeeleys makes some great square bits and the Armor bit is not bad. The Kreg bits wear very quickly and can cause problems with tightening. I think there are jigs from Chinese companies that offer the combo you are looking for but I know Armor and Kreg dont at this time. Thanks for watching.

    as a welder by trade, but retired now, and do home odd jobs, i have tried many auto adjust tools but none of them ever last long, the handles are always a stamped out metal, then they get realy sticky and dont work, and they end up in the scrap bin.. i gave up on them, and stayed with the vice grip brand, witch were not an auto ajust, but last for ever,, in fact i still have a lot of the origanal vice grip clamps i bought way back in the 70's, some are newer only because some one liked them better then me, and i had to buy a new one as i need them all the time, i do some welding videos but more on what i do since i retired

      I have been using these for a couple months now and really like them. They are in my woodworking shop. For welding I have some vice grips but started using the Harbor freight clamps that work just as good recently. I got 20 4 inch for $54.00 that would have only bought 3 vice grips. The Kreg auto clamps are junk and mine also went in the scrap metal bin. Thanks for watching,.

    Now that you have The Following you can do this with almost every company that you wanted to put on you channel by doing a review for them.. And you will be finding a lot of them just shipping things out to you hopping that you would like and would do a review if you have a P O Box in your description on video or have it posted somewhere where they can find.. You could probably just do reviews on things that they all send to you lol Thank you for your Time..

      You are right. I was afraid to try another auto clamp after the kreg clamps. These clamps are awesome. I tried for a week to get them to malfunction and they have all worked properly every time. I was thinking about making a video about cutting the kreg clamps apart trying to figure out why they don't work properly. I can't wait to try the pocket hole jig on a project. Thanks for watching.

      The clamps and jig are China and the pliers are Taiwan. My last Kreg clamp was stamped China also. I have found the quality of Chinese products to be equal to or better then some made in the USA products that I have purchased lately. Thanks for watching.

      @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Armor should clearly state where their products are made. I looked on Armor's website and I couldn't' find any information on where their products are made. It's not the quality of the products that's a concern, it's that the Chinese workers are paid $ .50 and hour.

      It's on the packages. This is a result of years of unbalanced trade deals to keep cheap American consumers happy. I doubt it will ever go away. I figure everything is made in China these days unless it is labeled otherwise.

      I had nothing but trouble with mine and couldn't use them. These have worked good so far. Not as fancy as the kreg with their big cushioned handles but so far they have worked consistently. These also are expensive but they run good sales if you sign up on the Armor email list. I did have one bite my finger because I was holding it wrong that I will show in the next bench build video. I like them because they work. Thanks for watching.
