LUMIX GH6 | The Perfect Wedding Cinema Camera!

- I don't shoot that many weddings these days, but I have done a handful since the release of the LUMIX GH6. So I thought I'd throw together a little montage of a few shots that I've captured during real wedding shoots, in case anyone would like to see how capable it really is.
If there's any wedding filmmakers / cinematographers out there considering the GH6, all I can say is, it's pretty much perfect for weddings. So powerful, amazing imagery, and so much fun to use. No matter the conditions, it just performs. What more can you ask for?

All footage shot on the LUMIX GH6 and recorded internally. Mostly 4K 60p 10 bit.
I use quite a few lenses depending on how I'm feeling but pretty sure the glass used in these shots were mostly;
Panasonic Leica 25-50mm f/1.7
Canon FD 55mm & 35mm
Helios 44M
Graded using my own custom LUTs and FilmConvert

Although the GH7 just came out, the GH6 is still a beast! Considering getting this one as my entry camera into LUMIX! Amazing Videos btw! You’re a great film maker !

Depends really but on the whole, probably GH6 as the specs are more advanced being a newer camera.

Hi, Tommy, amazing video. Just got the GH6, filmed something in my backyard, Vlog, I followed all the rules, applied some Rec709, mingled with the settings...The result looks like crap. I have a long way to go. I wanna buy your LUTS, but I am curios which one from your packages you used on these weddings. Also, how important is the Black pro mist in all this amazing look? Thank you
Hi Adrian, thanks mate. If you're not happy with results, keep playing with it. My number one piece of advice for shooting in log is to get a good exposure. Following the 'Expose To The Right' method often does the trick. If things look muddy, it's likely underexposed.
I don't actually use those LUTs in my wedding work (except the smoky backlit shot of the couple - that was The Storm LUT). I have a different LUT that I developed for the majority of my wedding work, but that one isn't for sale currently bud!

Looks great. Still deciding to either get the GH6 or S5 to go with my GH5.
I've used every LUMIX camera going now, and my recommendation would definitely be the GH6

I think I remember you using Final Cut to edit. What aspect ratio do you open your projects in to fill in my entire iPhone screen? I open my projects in custom with 3840 x 1920, but it doesn’t look as pristine as yours!

I use 3840 x 1600, which is roughly 2.4:1 👍🏻

The grade I've used here is one of my own custom LUT's that I've built from scratch, and tweaked lots over the years. Then finished with FilmConvert

I am spilt between the two as well, FX30 is mostly superior less 1. IBIS 2. directly external SSD 3. prores 4. better slow motion.

Did you use an anamorphic lens?
Hi, I want to ask something very important to me about GH6. I do night events (concerts, weddings) with low lights, in my Fuji XT3 I use ISO 3200- 6400 in concerts, my question is, would be enough GH6 for low lights iSO 6400 as maximum for recording without noise? Or I must go for LUMIX S5 or S1H in this case? Do you have an example of low light recording with GH6?
Personally I haven't needed to push the ISO that high yet, however I'm sure it would perform well. I have been up to 3200 in really dark conditions and the footage looks great.
Of course if low light performance is very high up on your list of priorities, you may be better off with one of the S Series, however the compromise there would be missing out on the GH6's amazing functionality and specs.
Great! How often did you find yourself using AF? Also, what was your most used lens?

@@mariomercier5451 thanks man! Totally depends on the set up and how I’m rigged up, but a little set up like this I’m usually just on the lens yeh
As a wedding videographer who used the GH5, I'm wondering if you've ever encountered the streaking issue that other people have reported? I love the image from the GH6, but am just concerned about that.
Nope. Never seen it. At this point I honestly don’t know what it is some have been reporting.
Ive only experienced it once when shooting towards a window in a dark lit room. Its not really a concern for me. Can highly recommend the GH6. Huge improvement

Did you have to use lighting? Or just natural light?

@@RoweFilms awesome work! Did you use any full stock for Filmconvert? Usually i use Filmconvert film stock to transform to rec709 then grade it to my look. It’d be interesting if you can share with us how you do it 😊
@@mohdfirdaus9050 thanks. I kinda use it the other way round. I grade to my look first, and then finish with filmconvert. Mostly just for the grain emulation, with a bit of a further colour tweak to taste. Usually very subtle

I dislike most of the GH6 footage available, except this one and a few. I think the vintage lens has tamed the "digital look" very well.
Is this filmed in autofocus? What's the music name?
No I never use AF, manual only

Unsure what you mean. You mean shooting in auto mode? If so, I wouldn't recommend that.
