I have a KQ 500 powersteering from 2009 which I bought new then, almost 14 years old now and 600 hours on it. Bought with extra thick alu plate, 2 winches and big wheels. Done much hard trail riding with friends and some not so hard at my proberty and forest here in Sweden. And no problems what so ever! Have not changed anything! Nice video! just got a 2018 king quad 750, owners manual states the oil should be checked with the dipstick touching the edge of the hole, NOT to be screwed in to check the oil level. Hope this helps.
I run Suzuki wet gear oil in the rear diff. Suzuki gear oil in the front; I think it’s 75/90. I use Suzuki 10/40 engine oil, I change engine oil every 500km or once per year. I change front and rear diffs every 1000 km. I have 5300km. I have replaced the battery 3 times. Now it’s not charging well. So until I fix the charging issue; I am just putting a low amp charger on every 3 -5 days. It’s been a good rig. It needs new shocks now too, the factory shocks have just started leaking. Thank for making the video, you have done a great job! 👍
Im currently working on a 2014 750 king quad, and it has 2 spark plugs, and they take a 14mm socket, you're going to cause issues with the 5\8 socket. I found that running seafoam and Baryman B-12 through the air intake can clean out the carbon build-up in the intake and valves, as well as the piston, and head
Good thing I saw all the comments in this video I was leaning towards a Suzuki King quad 750 but when I read all the comments and all the problems you're all having I think I'm going to get a Honda.
Good video. As for the way to check the oil, I generally pull the screw/dipstick out, clean it off, and then turn it back in about halfway. This gives a pretty good reading. I have heard others say to check it with the screw all the way out. Hope this helps.
I just use the Walmart hydraulic fluid works just great on the wet brakes a lot cheaper and easier to get haven't had any issues and I've learned a lot from you over the years!
Pro tip: When cleaning your radiator, DO NOT use a pressure washer. You can damage the fins on the radiator. Just use an open ended water hose and rinse it out that way.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I wasn't thinking one day and ruined a radiator by hitting it with the pressure washer. I learned the expensive way. I see tons of people doing it to their side by sides and 4 wheelers and I tell them not to and they are like, "I've been doing it for years, never had a problem" It only takes one time and then you gotta buy a rad.
Nice video I just subscribed. Not too many videos on kingquads out there thanks for all the advice. I use amsoil in the case, yamalube in the front, and Kawasaki in the rear.
Hi...I have had an 2005 King Quad since new, now with 14000km on it... its 2.5 liters of oil (I've used Rotella T6 full synth 5w40 since new (with a filter change) every 1000 km...about 30% of those km are hard snow plowing.... still on my first OEM belt. Make it easier to check the oil by trimming away the plastic on the back side of the recoil starter in a semi-circle so there is no need to remove the plastic..also its good practice is check the oil daily. The oil should be at the full level when DIPPED... not screwed in... take a small file and add a line across the dipstick about 1/4 inch above the full hash marks..thats the oil level when it SCREWED IN... so no need to double dip..just unscrew the dipstick..it should be at that line (above the full line) if you just removed it...if you "dip" then its the top of the hash marks.. fwiw..tip for you..avoid belt bark by not sliding to a stop and then hammering on the gas again... if you come to a wheels locked stop..the belt gets stranded mid sheave so pop the transmission into neutral... rev the engine once enough so you can hear the belt spinning and let it spin down on its own..when its idling again pop it into gear and a way you go... a stop like that often happens when plowing hard into a snowbank. its best to coast to a stop Thanks for the great videos... I really appreciate this latest one featuring the King Quad..its a great ATV. Keep up the super work
I have a 2008 KINGQUAD 400 and the oil dipstick does not screw all the way tight (small gap between plastic bottom area of the cap and top part of the metal). I’m wondering if it’s normal or do I need to purchase a new dipstick ? (looks like I cross threaded it on once). I got the ATV used (only one owner prior and it only had 190 miles on it, he used it only to go hunting and did not ride through water that would go above foot peg, no trail riding either). I use it for hunting and no trail riding also and not rode through water deeper than 6-8”.
Hi great video. I have a king quad 750 with 23000 miles on the clock. It's been sat a few months. A few issues I have that you may help with. Some very mild blue smoke when exelerating hard. That's standing still. The quad will sometimes just cut out for no reason then re start straight away. Also turn the key from on to the lights on while the quad is running and the engine stalks... Thanks
I have a 2006 king quad 700 that had the same issues. After watching many other videos I started in on the electrical system, specifically the ground from the battery to the engine. After cleaning all up the problem went away. I saw several others that added additional grounds to include grounding to the frame but I elected not to do that as the problem went away. Hope this helps!
I've had a 2007 Suzuki king quad 450. Beast of a machine. 55mph top speed lol wayyy more power than my 2015 honda foreman 500fm1 manual shift. Anyways I just started noticing the smell of antifreeze from the front, after running for awhile. No leaks that I can see. Levels are fine. Let me know what you think, thanks.
I have a king quad 750 I have replaced the ci under the seat maybe 2 years ago and I’m having same issue starting it again could the ci box be bad again or could it be something else? Thanks great video
could be something else. I don't see the CDI boxes going bad often without another cause. Check your wires coming from the stator. reference video: th-cam.com/video/Ocq4pTBo8Ac/w-d-xo.html Are they dark or burnt?
Thanks for your helpful video. I have a KQ 700 & a couple of questions. [1] how much fluid does the rear differential take to be full? [2] When I coast down hill, giving no throttle, there is strange noise sort of like a screeching sound. When I give a little throttle it stops or apply the brakes it stops. Any ideas what might be causing it. I use the quad less than 200mi/yr, in CA where it doesn't get too cold. It starts reliably, runs well, no missing, shift great. It has made that noise for years. Changing the fluids did not affect the noise. Thank you.
How do I check fuel pump before removing . My 700fi was not being used for 2 yrs but did start and was spitting a bit for about 3/4 mins and then run great so I turned it off. Next morning however it cranks perfectly but not start so I suspect the fuel pump. Thank you for you very interesting video and if you have links to my problem I would appreciate.
Hello!! Nice video!! Very well done! Little question: i do plow to with my 2005 king quad and when I have to backup and whil doing it using my winch to raise my plow at the same time my quad stall!!! Is it normal? If not ehat would be my issue? Thanks
Try running 91 octane and add Sea Foam to it. If you don’t have a magnetic spark plug socket just put a small piece of paper between soak plug a wall of socket to hold spark plug.
Good Video. Can the piston and rings be replaced without removing complete engine. Have to check the oil regularly and the threaded oil cap has me questioning the proper fill level.
we have the 2008 lta450x . the cylinder head is OFF and piston was easy to remove . this was done with the engine in frame. complete engine unit was easy to remove and will require CrankPin bearing and cam chain. (OCT2021) in My experience ; the piston and rings are very good. oil lose may be due to crankcase vent to air filter. .. that top hose. NO oil pressure or volume monitoring .
I just bought a 2008 king quad 750AXI with 30 hours on it... it sat for a while before I bought it and now it stalls out and backfires when giving it full throttle. It will idle for a couple minutes then stall out. Has 100 miles on it the thing is basically brand new
i got a 2007 Suzuki kingquad 700, i changed the fuel pump, air filter and spark plug. now i got a problem still with hard startin and the clutch wanna keep spinnin while idlin. i can't change gears. only way to change gears is to shut it down, put it in the gear you want, hold the rear brake and start. yet, the battery is too weak to even do all that my brother n law got me it as a gift, mainly to work on, they drove it and no problem. my grizzly 700 as you see in my picture been stolen in February 2020, after over 11 years ownin it. 2008 year i do all maintenance on my atv's even when the Kingquad 700 idlin, it wants to get louder and louder, a friend of mine did adjust it little. of havin an aftermarket exhaust on it, no program box. they messed with the idle somehow. fuel pump could be it since the fuel pump is new after runnin, smell oil through the doors of the buildin comin from the atv. he said it been sunked, no milky oil or nothin
Love your videos, please keep up the great work. I recently picked up a 2009 Suzuki king quad 750 axi lm hoping you could make a video on how to convert the kingquad radiator and snorkel kit.
Hi, great video on the Kingquad. I bought a 2020 KQ 500 (for easy trail riding mostly) last July and love it. It's my first time owning a quad. Suzuki seems to have a solid reliability reputation like Yamaha and Honda. I chose the 500 over the 750 because I don't feel like I need that much power and have no desire to go fast. It seems plenty powerful and burns a little less gas than my friends 2019 750 on the same trip. There's not near as much info about the 500 online as the 750. Just wondering if there's any issue of the engine valves gumming up in the 500 like in the 750? Should I run it pretty hard on the throttle to prevent this? Is the 500 engine very reliable in your opinion? Thanks for your time.
Hey man at 13:20 you were talking about how to trouble shoot the rad fan and how to jump it to see if its working, Do you have any videos/explanation on how to do that? Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video I know it's been three years I hope your answering questions, what would cause my display not to work , wires are fine and fuses are good I can't figure out what else it could be , an know one can tell me
I have seen these go bad. It is unfortunately. These aren't cheap, but they do go bad. Let me know if I can help. www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports Also check out: We do get these in occasionally.
Having a pull start wouldn't seem to do any good if yr battery is dead and the rectifier is shot bc then the fuel injection wouldn't be working at all therefore pull starting it is no use, now it would be nice to have if the starter relay goes out, or yr a fuse blows. Thanks for all the info on this machine, I just got one and been all over trynna learn all I can. So this help a lot. I'm missing the left side plastic cover over the pull start on my 700, you wouldn't happen to have one?
Thank you, nice overview and description of the machine. Question, I have one of this that someone worked on the engine, new piston, rings, timing chain kit and headgasket. The tps was wrong, chain needed to be repositioned. I made the necessary changes but still does not want to start just like it didn't want to start after the work done. Thus is why it was sold to me. I'm trying to get it started, but it doesn't. I checked the valve clearance and are good. What else to check? Thanks!
@@jonsavant9971 I was able to get it started this morning. I sprayed starting fluid in the air intake and it started, however, it seems to stay on while I press on the throttle and I found out the new oil just mixed with the coolant while I had it on for just 2min...now instead of oil it's cream lol... I see a new head gasket on it but I'm not even sure if it was torqued correctly. Would I think it's something else that caused the mixing? Thanks again!
When changing the filter with oil change mine will always take about 2500 and when checking oil I never screw the dip stick in. Just my opinion. My problem at the moment is my TPS(throttle position sensor) is always needing adjustment. Also the reverse gear indicator on the console will disappear sometimes.
great thorough video, quesion,i have a 700 suzuki king quad, never have had a problem with it yesterday as i was pulling in my driveway,i heard a humming noise coming from the cover that, when your sitting on the machine, your right calf sits right next to it? im new to this,i dont know what the humming is? but it stopped, then the next morning i heard it again...any ideas?
Great overview. I have a KQ 400 and 750 and would like to do my own basic maintenance. Does the 750 have vapor lock issues? Mine intermittently dies and won't restart until cool. Thanks.
Hello, Thanks for the great video. I have a question. I have a King Quad 450 (I believe 2007 or 2008). Last week I was plowing snow and the motor shut down without a warning or sputtering. It wouldn't restart, not even a single ignition. I let it sit for a week because I was busy, and tried it again. I started, but had problems. But after a minute it seemed to run smooth, although I didn't drive it, just in idle in the garage. Today I tried to use it, and it wouldn't start at all. First I suspected fuel problems, and used starting fluid. No ignition (the starter worked fine, it turned the motor as it is supposed to). Then I checked all the fuses, they were fine too. After that I tried to start it again, and two or three times in five minutes I had one single ignition. Any idea what this could be? Since the starting fluid didn't do anything, I suspect a problem in the ignition. What do you think? Thanks in advance, Oliver
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I finally had time to look into this matter a bit deeper. I don't want to bore you with all details, I just tell you the relevant part. I pulled the spark plug and checked for sparks. I had a good looking plug, which sparked well. I changed it anyways. and that did the trick. It runs now as smooth as it used too! Unbelievable that that made a difference.
I am looking at 2004 king quad 4x4 she got 10miles on, Front bearing needs to replace the front axle with no boots. Loud starter, How much work will that cost me to fix. Is it worth buying. I need your opinion? Thanks
I have a question. I have a 06 king quad 700 that all of the sudden started spitting and sputtering when you give it half throttle or more. Like it's misfiring badly or like if it had a choke that it's staying closed. Any ideas? I thank you for your time. Oh and it starts fine and idles fine. Give it gas and it's not fine.
I just got 2 of the 700s and one of mine is doing same thing, Valve lifters needs adjustment, you need to measure the clearance and use same size special rounded metal pieces that will adjust it, I will make a video on this topic on my channel soon, and also I am rebuilding one 700 engine from a flooded engine

I've got a 450 axi king quad. My wife rolled it over while on the trails 3 yrs ago. It started and ran ok after flipping it back over. I ran it at home in the yard a few times and when I shut it off 2 yrs ago it wouldn't restart. It back fires thru the throttle body but will not even try to start. I've left it sit for the last 2 yrs in a dead state. I was thinking that maybe I've got a burn valve. It was smoking while the wife was running it wide open on the roads back to our camper the day she flipped it. I was told it's low on compression. Is it possible to just pull the head off and clean the valves to see if it will even attempt to start again?
Hello awesome video. I have a 2008 450 Kingquad and as soon as I start to go over 20 mph or higher it’s all over the road Pretty sure it’s something from the front. Any suggestions??? Thanks
Hello I have a 2010 750 King quad that is giving me some starting issues when warm or hot it starts good cold but when starting hot or warm I have to give it a little bit of throttle for it to start. There is no codes and TPS is sitting at -COO Have put a new fuel pump spark plug and air filter in still the same. Have installed a new coolant sensor and air temp sensor and have tested the idle air control and it tests at 28 ohms(manual says it should be 31ohms). If I turn the screw on throttle cable at the throttle it will idle higher and start good but hard to get into gear without noise. Hoping for some help
Hello, Thanks for the great video. I have a question. I got a used King Quad 750 from 2013. When I drive into a corner it makes some noises in the back differential like "klack ...klack". The first owner thought it is normal because both tires turn in same speed... what do u think? or is it a sign maybe something needs to get changed?
Did it happens only when you have diffs locked? If not I think you should have take a look at that diff if you don´t have broken gears or something because I dont think it should make that sound. Mine also had that clicking noise but the rear axle joint to the diff was bad. You can look at it too.
Very well done video. Have you ever done any work to one of these with power steering? I'd love to see one of your videos on something like that. My 750 is having issues in that department.
I just bought a 2017 king quad 750. It only has 200 miles. I have noticed sometimes while idling it will cut off. It does start right backup and seems to run fine. Any ideas what this may be?

We have an 2010 Kingquad 750. After releasing the foot brake at the right, the brake light stays on. Since it is connected to the right brake at the steering wheel, we have tried taking that apart. We struck upon a steel wire which is connected to the brake and that wire goes into the body of the quad itself. What is the purpose of this wire? And do you have any idea how we can solve the brake light problem? When using the right brake at the steering wheel, the light does function properly. Thank you!

Have a 2015 750. Turned the key & tried to start. "Check" is on lower dashboard. I don't hear fuel pump priming & won't turnover like battery is dead. Replaced battery & same thing. Any suggestions?
Is there a fuel additive you or Suzuki would suggest using for this carbon issue on the 750? I bought my king quad to push a snowblower and only gets a few miles a year and is not run at full speed at all.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I've got a 2019 with 39 miles. The battery is draining over night to the point that the wheeler won't turn over. Any suggestions on locating the issue?
I have the exact same machine. 4500 miles on it. added oil a couple of times (half quart total +-). doesn't seem to burn oil but its hard to tell anymore. noticed some smoking under the plastics and kind of smelled like burnt oil. noticed there is a bunch of motor oil splashed around on the rear hitch and that area. May be coming from a hose that is located directly above it. is there a blowby? could it have been overfilled? Also wondering, this machine runs to 53MPH and then sputters and wont go any faster (nt that i need to). i assume thats the governor but not sure how its supposed to act. i believe this is shimmed for higher torque on the low end limiting top end speed. thanks for any guidance.
700 king quad when you start it like in a cool morning when it starts it doesn't go to fast idle for a few seconds it goes right to run other wise ow idle

Normal noise. I've read up on it on forums. Mine does it on start up in the cold. I live in northern Wisconsin, so 10° start ups are normal for the winters. Goes away after its warm.

its 2.5 liters of oil (I've used Rotella T6 full synth 5w40 since new (with a filter change) every 1000 km...about 30% of those km are hard snow plowing.... still on my first OEM belt.
Make it easier to check the oil by trimming away the plastic on the back side of the recoil starter in a semi-circle so there is no need to remove the plastic..also its good practice is check the oil daily. The oil should be at the full level when DIPPED... not screwed in... take a small file and add a line across the dipstick about 1/4 inch above the full hash marks..thats the oil level when it SCREWED IN... so no need to double dip..just unscrew the dipstick..it should be at that line (above the full line) if you just removed it...if you "dip" then its the top of the hash marks.. fwiw..tip for you..avoid belt bark by not sliding to a stop and then hammering on the gas again... if you come to a wheels locked stop..the belt gets stranded mid sheave so pop the transmission into neutral... rev the engine once enough so you can hear the belt spinning and let it spin down on its own..when its idling again pop it into gear and a way you go... a stop like that often happens when plowing hard into a snowbank. its best to coast to a stop
Thanks for the great videos...

Thanks
Mine is doing the same thing
23,000 Miles? Did I read that right?
You need a fuel pump

(OCT2021)

oil lose may be due to crankcase vent to air filter. .. that top hose.
NO oil pressure or volume monitoring .

i got a 2007 Suzuki kingquad 700, i changed the fuel pump, air filter and spark plug. now i got a problem still with hard startin and the clutch wanna keep spinnin while idlin. i can't change gears. only way to change gears is to shut it down, put it in the gear you want, hold the rear brake and start. yet, the battery is too weak to even do all that

Having a pull start wouldn't seem to do any good if yr battery is dead and the rectifier is shot bc then the fuel injection wouldn't be working at all therefore pull starting it is no use, now it would be nice to have if the starter relay goes out, or yr a fuse blows. Thanks!
Did you check the pickup coil, it sends signal for fuel and spark?
@@jonsavant9971
I was able to get it started this morning.
@@chmva2000 hate to hear that oil problem. Check the compression before you take it apart and cam timing. Heads gasket usually oil problem.
When changing the filter with oil change mine will always take about 2500 and when checking oil I never screw the dip stick in. Just my opinion. My problem at the moment is my TPS(throttle position sensor) is always needing adjustment. Also the reverse gear indicator on the console will disappear sometimes.

@@MidNebraskaMotorsports Turned out to be a bad throttle position sensor.
Hello,
Thanks for the great video.
Thanks in advance,
Oliver
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I finally had time to look into this matter a bit deeper. I don't want to bore you with all details, I just tell you the relevant part. I pulled the spark plug and checked for sparks. I had a good looking plug, which sparked well. I changed it anyways. and that did the trick. It runs now as smooth as it used too! Unbelievable that that made a difference.

Hello,
Thanks for the great video. I have a question. I got a used King Quad 750 from 2013. When I drive into a corner it makes some noises in the back differential like "klack ...klack". The first owner thought it is normal because both tires turn in same speed... what do u think? or is it a sign maybe something needs to get changed?
Yeah it’s normal mine does it too...like you’ve run over a plastic bottle
Did it happens only when you have diffs locked? If not I think you should have take a look at that diff if you don´t have broken gears or something because I dont think it should make that sound. Mine also had that clicking noise but the rear axle joint to the diff was bad. You can look at it too.

Thank you!
Don’t know if I missed it in the video but was wondering where the thermometer is on the 4 wheeler? Do not believe my fan is starting anymore and was told to check thermometer and sensor for fan. Hoping you can help. Thanks
Easy way to protect the front bumper from the winch is to cut a 2 inch piece of PVC and put it over the steel. With a couple of wide zip ties
