    I just pulled the trigger on one of these and can't wait for it to get here. I saw your video on Amazon reviews and hoped I could find a longer version of it. Thanks for taking the time to post. I will now sit here and try and be patient until Wednesday, my expected delivery date.

      Thank you, much appreciated. Funny story, Amazon would not post video in its entirety for some odd reason? They claimed it was "offensive" and broke the rules??? Go figure?! 🤣🤣🤣.
      Regardless, these are really good guitars for the money and with a little TLC they can become a main player in your collection. Make no mistake, they're not a PRS or even a Gibson, but at that price point it's a winner. A basic set up (see my Fritz Ruler video), some decent strings and you're in business. rock on, man and happy travels...

    I had to pull the trigger on this from amazon!Amazon!! I noticed I missed so many opportunities to have a guitar with a decent skeleton I can upgrade... anyway, my purchase was a "less than stunning finish.... runs, overspray, and suchlike... that being said, somewhat redeemable.... IT WAS $180.!! If you want perfect spend $4k for a prs.... cts pots, Wilkinson locking tuners, strap locks, proper setup (yes, dealing withthe frets!)... this thing is a real keeper!

    • @MichaelJacques

      Excellent commentary, Amigo! I think people lose sight of the point that this is a cheap guitar that exceeds all expectations. I have heard of some finish flaws and the person/s sent it back and got another one without any issues. I got another one in green, it has 3 little over spray dots on the finish... but what the heck, right. No biggie.
      Also, It's Amazon so right there, it's a hit. No return hassle. Rock on, my man!

    Got mine back in April...I buy these with the express intent on modifying them. Bing a "PRS," I decided to install a PRS brand nut, and PRS locking tuners (those things are awesome) I also found a pair of Fishman Fluence Modern pickups in the Amazon Warehouse for an insane deal (more than $100 off retail) Added 3 mini switches between the knobs, to control the Fishmans, switched out the 3-way to an all black, and put on black knobs. It's my second favorite guitar, right now, slightly behind my Sire Vintage S7 (also with Fishman active pickups)

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you could do that, the price is such that it isn't huge loss like if one were to "mod" a LP or a quality Strat. I'm a stock guy, always have been. I get frustrated if and when I have to put too much effort into things. I will say though, that tweaking the neck and action myself on these is worry free. They're cheap guitars, in price, but still very nice right out of the sketchy IYV/Amazon box... Whereas on my vintage axes, I ALWAYS bring to a top luthier (they're getting rarer and rarer these days).

    Nice review 👌. I have one myself. I rewired it to have separate coil split for volume and tone. I also added resistors to the coil split. PRS wiring. Pretty simple and not expensive. I kepted the humbuckers. Can't beat it. Looks 👍.

      For a cheap guitar it is very good, but keep in mind it is not a PRS. with a set up and some tweaking though, it'll be a good gigging axe.
      Rock on!

    “Better off not knowing”
    Truer words have never been spoken.

    Btw, how were the details? Mine had lots of overspray and a few other cosmetic issues, plus 80 grit frets.

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes indeed... As per "details", it was very clean for an axe under 2 bills. I was really taken aback by the wood binding, such a nice touch to an overall really nice guitar. It is a long scale guitar so it's going to be a little stiff versus a short scale LP style. That being said, I really like it for what it is...

      @@MichaelJacques Sounds about par for the course for IYV. If you like this one, then you'll want to try the IP-300 (amzn.to/3FMtECj)... similar, but with a Wilkinson trem. And the... Nice review. Mine came in good. 1 minor scuff on the back edge of the body, no big deal. The binding is pretty cool, not sure if thats real wood or just a wood like effect? The masking of it is good but not perfect. I think it might have a bone nut, it has a chalky feel to it, seems to be cut good. A few frets need to be polished, slightly rough, strings need replacing anyways. NICE fret ends! Typical dry fretboard. To me its a PRS neck shape, could be wrong, but compared to a firefly lp neck its slightly smaller in girth. Tone knob really bleeds the volume down, weird. Volume pot works great. I guessed the guitar weighed 8lbs, put it on a scale and it was bang on 8. Overall Im impressed for $169! Definitely a better build them my Firefly LP.
    As for your video its great to find a reviewer with personality ;) Just add bit more info for the viewers such as weight, neck shape, fret size ect.

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! I think the binding is taped off. Meaning that it is/was masked and then the finish was applied, after that, they removed the masking and viola', we get the natural wood binding. A very nice touch all in all. Yes, the factory strings are the worsts, as on all new guitars. I subbed mine out with GHS boomer 0.10s and tweaked the truss... away we go to shred-landia!

      They are typical humbuckers, with a tendency to be muddy Could be the audio on your system? I was using a Fender 25R practice amp (not my live rig Deluxe 40w or my JMP 100w), and I tend to push the mids on all my rigs. Basically: Treb 4/5, Mid 8/10, Bass 5, Pres 3/5 or off (depending on the guitar I'm using).

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm glad my review could help you drop the hammer on the guitar. You can't beat them for the money. As per my tunings, it's always just Standard A-440. Though on rare occasion, I'll use a open E tune but that's just for kicks. I like the Coricidin glass slide best. It "grabs" the strings just enough (versus brass for example) to create some resistance and the tone is always spot on. Rock on!

When I began playing afordable guitars were Harmony, Kent and Tesco, etc. Talk about junk! lol Seriously, today's guitars are so much better. Life is good! ;-)) Shalom/gw

    At last, another player who knows he's got four fingers. I favour the transparent Dunlop Gell picks over the red Jazz III as they don't have that plosive when plucking. 🙌

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, man. Much appreciated. I like the Red Jazz III but they do wear out super fast. Tried the Black Jazz III, Stiffo, Tortex, and the Ultex as well. Each has it's own tone. Try this... drop the picks on a hard surface and hear the tonal differences. True. You can actually hear the variants. Don't know if it makes a difference at high gain, but it's an interesting experiment.

    • @LuvHrtZ
      @LuvHrtZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MichaelJacques I like the transparent Dunlop Stubbies because they glide over the strings for economy picking better than the rest. The red ones without the grip pattern are also better then the ones with the grip because of their pointier shape.

    • @MichaelJacques
      @MichaelJacques  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LuvHrtZ Interestingly, the grip pattern can "catch" the string, per one's style of picking, and can be a drag. That being said, I like the Red Jazz III (with the grip) during live gigs so I don't drop as much. Picks are truly an art form in themselves. Interesting topic. Maybe one I'll explore soon...
