      Rex you clearly don't actually watch my videos as I specifically explain that AG sent me the unit to review, and that anyone thinking of buying one shouldn't rely only on my review, to do their own research,and to not spend their hard earning money just based on what I say. So maybe actually watch videos before commenting on them? You rip people to shreds on your channel for far less. Do better brother.

    I built my 4K pinball machine back in 2018, so 6 years ago. I have 1 single cord coming out of the cabinet, and press one button under the cabinet that turns everything on in seconds.
    I would rather have the ability to run VPX, Pinball FX, FX2, FX3, Zaccaria Pinball, Zen Studios on my cabinet.
    It has a working plunger, launch button, SSF, accelerometer, addressable LEDs, DMD, custom cabinet decals, etc. Modeled after a 90's era Williams cabinet. Everything looks like it was made professionally and with the correct proportions. ZERO monitor bezels visible for edge-to-edge backglass and playfield.
    The ONLY thing that the AtGames 4KP offers, I guess, is no need to maintain tables, but you have to buy their tables. Yes, keeping up on VPX versions to be able to play the latest and greatest tables can be cumbersome at times, and it is a price needing to be paid for having much superior tables.
    Sadly this comparison is between a medium quality premade cabinet vs a cobbled together build that is not a good representation of what a virtual pinball machine typically looks like.
    That all being said, your video is still a good, and seems honest, comparison between what you have and the AtGames option. It just, again my opinion only, represent what a lot of people have been doing for some time now.

      Your rig sounds sweet! And mine is def DIY - but, like the MILLENNIUM FALCON, it's got what it takes under the hood. ;)
      I think most people interested in owning a vpin are totally unwilling or unable to build their own machine, or afford a rig like vpultra or Xtreme. For most people who want something legit, the 4KP is one of very few choices. And so far, I think it shows a lot of promise, especially for the money. Thanks for checking it out Nick; hope to see you in the comments again!

    While I’m not a fan of AtGames customer service or the way they treat customers in their Facebook groups, I really do enjoy my 4KP machine. I’ve been playing with OTG mode and have VPX configured and running and it’s been great. My OTG PC is complete overkill running ail i9 14th gen with 32 gigs of ram and a 16 gig 4070 Ti Super. VPX, Pinball FX and Pinball M all run great. There’s some things that need to be fixed by AtGames which I’m hopeful will be addressed in a future firmware update. But overall I’m very happy with this pinball machine.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment

      That's good to hear! I have only messed around a little bit with OTG, but it seems to be working pretty good. And overkill is right! That's a mighty setup you got there!

    It has exceeded my expectations, by quite a lot. I feel lucky I did early pre-order. It's a steal at what I paid for it. I could never make something this good myself. And of course it is very easy to add VPX, FP and FX3 if you want to. If and when the VPX wizards get the accelerometer working with OTG, the machine will be essentially perfect.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That $1099 intro price was basically robbing AtGames. Insanely good price. And you're right - no chance of making yourself for that price (or realistically, even for $1500). OTG could end up being the killer "app" for the 4KP.

    Great video JDV! I bought a prebuilt 42” 4K machine and 2 years later, sold it. I was always screwing around with software, trying to get stuff adjusted properly. Just too much of a hassle for me. I have my ALP HD and will get a 4K one when there’s an artwork package that interests me.

      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks Mike! I completely understand why you did. I was not exaggerating when I said 1/2 of the time spent on my build is for adjusting settings or adding games. For me, it's worth it... but I'm a guy nuts enough to build one from scratch to start with. The simple ease of use of this machine (added mightily by the new user interface) makes it very attractive to me, especially if I'm pressed for time.

  • @PapaBradsGaming
    @PapaBradsGaming 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Yes the simplicity of the ALP 4KP is a big plus. It is kind of an affordable all in one virtual pinball solution for your home arcade. Also the TAITO and Magic Pixel Tables play great with excellent SSF sound if you get the SSF kit. Great video as always. Keep them coming brother! They need to make a Chucky Zen Pinball 4KP or horror themed table for you. I might have to switch if they do Monster Bash or CREATURE From the Black Lagoon Collectors Editions. lol

      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Multi-ball in ADDAMS FAMILY is a nightmare even w/o lag. With it, it's basically impossible. But it is still super fun. Hopefully they'll get that lag sorted out soon. And the UI is massive leap forward over the HD version.

      Hey Dave, I appreciate the kind words! Simply put, there's nothing else quite like the 4KP out right now. Doesn't mean it's right for everyone (or every wallet), but for a lot of arcade fans, these machines are going to check a lot of boxes. In a very real sense, the only other options are the horrible A1up pins, or the far inferior to the 4KP HD ALP. You know, I haven't played those Dr Suess tables yet, but I might have to give them a try now!

  • @steveblersch

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I mean we;re literally at the beginning of the 4KP's product cycle. Heck, mass produced vpins has only been around for 2-3 years as it is. It's a surprisingly "mature" product, specially hardware-wise. But the success or failure of the 4KP will be how good the tables are to play. So far on that front it's been a mixed bag. I have high hope for those Gottlieb pins.

  • @cpace123
    @cpace123 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree with many of your points, but there is still something about playing a machine our built yourself, that can't be replicated any other way. Yes it may not be perfect, but that satisfaction goes along way. But it is nice to click and switch and play. 1 negative is if it breaks you have to deal with the company. A diy machine will always be able to be repaired. I do have a plunger and nudge on my machine though which is nice.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, there's many benefits to building your own.... but realistically, I only did it b/c I can not afford a high end vpin. A similar model by a company like ultravp would be at least $5000, probably more like $8000. All that said, each time I build a machine I get better at it... and the next one will def have a plunger! Thinking about a tilt-bob too, although I have no idea how to go about it....

    Hi JDV, I would say there are things the ALP 4KP does better than your self built machine and vice versa of course. I bet the SSF Kit and its integration is probably more sophisticated. On my ALP 4KP I am running alot of OTG off my gaming pc with 12900k and 3080Ti but its taken awhile to dial in the settings, hours and hours so I do like to just turn on and go, I cured my flipper issues with a powered USB and the screen tearing on FX, Pinball M and FX3 via Nvidia control panel VSyc Fast.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      One of the reasons I leave my amps outside the machine is so I can manually turn them up and down depending on the game. It's a simple solution that while messy, does work (consistent volumes across games is another plus of the 4KP). The reality is that the vast majority of people looking to add vpin to their home bar/arcade/man cave just want a machine that looks/plays great and is easy to use. The 4KP is going to fit that bill for almost everyone wanting that kind of thing. I think it's sweet that they even bothered to include OTG, as it essentially competes with their own table packs. Don't quote me on this, but I believe there's a scheduled firmware upgrade for OTG later this month (plus those Gottlieb tables).

    • @SScorpio0
      @SScorpio0 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@evilgeniusentertainment I installed a custom SSF kit on my ALP HD and mounted the amps to the bottom front of the cabinet. That required a single hole to pass cables, as well as a few small screw holds from the amp mounting itself. It let me quickly adjust the volumes, while keeping a mostly clean look. Maybe it would work for you.
      I do like the cleanliness of the 4KP SSF kit, and each only screen volume control. I only wish the volume and OTG switch button were on the front of the cabinet. With all the ports moved to the back, it's odd needing to reach across the cabinet to adjust those things. If up against a wall, it doesn't work for a small kid.
      Four Zen packs are supposedly also due out in March. Twlight Zone, Godzilla vs Kong, Williams Star Trek Next Gen, and the Zen Star Trek tables.

      Calvin, it's funny you say that because using the plunger for ADDMAS FAMILY (even though a bit finicky) has made me realize that for some tables it's a pretty necessary feature. I'm thinking about building another pinball machine, and if I do I'm going to (try) put a plunger in it.

      I've had nothing but good luck w/AG's customer service (and that was long before I started doing arcade-type content). And the one of the best things about this type of product is that you don't need to be a scientist to make it work. Miles better user interface, relatively simply build (esp comparing it to recent A1up cabs), easy to upgrade firmware/buy games. Whether or not any more Zen games will exhibit lag is a big question. ADDAMS FAMILY almost a worst case scenario for the first release - tough game to emulate, magnets wildly affecting ball path, and a very hard multiball all make any lag especially noticeable. If I had to guess I'd say either the lag will be totally absent or much reduced - but that's only a guess.

    Why wouldn't you put both the PC and cords in the cabinet of the custom pinball? Also why do you have to turn on your monitors? When I turn on my normal PC which has two monitors they wake up and turn on as well. If I was doing my own video pin I definitely would put in a plunger ... you lose a LOT of the feel without that.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2 reasons Ron - 1, and this is the most important - I'm lazy. It would be a boat-load of work to get everything placed in the cab at this point. 2, by having the amps and cords exposed, I can swap 'em out and otherwise change settings much easier (particularly volumes of the various amps, which I tend to change based on what table is playing). Far as a plunger goes... the 4KP has me re-thinking not putting one in. It's likely too late for this particular build, but I am going to make another cab soon, and I'll def put one in that one!

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually won't be able to - there's way too much other stuff (like the solenoids) crammed into the plunger area. I also glued the whole cab together, so no taking it apart without sawing it. I also use the PC to do all my editing, so the pinball aspect is secondary. Lastly, windows 10 (for whatever reason) resets my sound card to 2.1 every time it boots up, so I can't just boot to my front end (well, I could, but I wouldn't get 7.1). Pretty sure I'm going to build another pin with everything hidden - stay tuned!

    Honestly I get some of the simplicity and easy of use of the ALP… but your diy cab should be way better. Especially when it comes to Pinball FX and Zen tables. Online through PFX with tournament and online leaders would be superior on PC. All of zen tables are already there. Better optimized. AtGames uses separate leader boards that are limited to the ALP. PinballFX on PC have cross platform tournaments and leaders with consoles and bigger community.

      Way better? It's running 120hz 42" OLED. Nothing better on earth far as I know. It looks, plays, and sounds fantastic. I do run Zen/Steam on it, but as Steam seems to always require updates & my internet is deadly slow, I much prefer to have a one-and-done solution like the 4KP. And of course, it means more then just one person can play at any given time - morer is betterer. Do the Zen games look better on my world-class setup? Yup. But I'm a guy who still plays Atari2600 - play value and ease of use are big factors for me. Obviously people running high-end pins might feel different then me, but hey, I likes what I likes. Yeah, that's a much much tougher call isn't it? On the one hand, there's not that much graphical (is that a word?) improvement over the HD ALP - some to be sure, but those MP games look to be uprezzed, not truly from the ground up 4K builds. On the other hand, the 4K monitor, SSF kit, new UI, the branding/topper, and perhaps most importantly those Zen games are legit leaps forward. Digital Victory (a great channel BTW) is still running his stock ALP HD for his OTG rig, and it looks great - he runs his whole channel based on it. Maybe try selling your machine to see what you cab get? I got $500 for mine stock, so you might be surprised at what you can get (might take a while though).

      Yes all good points! I'm pretty much 100% OTG/VPX at this point, so the MP games really aren't much of a concern to me. The 4K screen, solenoids & SSF without all the screwing around & rat's nest (as you so wonderfully illustrated in your video😂) are EXTREMELY desirable however. Decisions decisions, knowing myself I'm sure I'll eventually cave. Digital Victory is a great channel, agreed. (as is yours!)@@evilgeniusentertainment

      Thank you! I'm hoping to do an OTG-specific video for the 4KP next week (I think there's a firmware for OTG coming soon) to see just how functional it is. I mean, if the SSF kit is compatible with VPX/FB, that's a pretty huge feature. I'd wait a bit and see how OTG shakes out....
