not to take anything away from the cast of "Crazy Heart" but this is a perfect illustration of how nobody can sing a song with such raw emotion the way the actual writer can... and as a songwriter myself, I love watching this take place.
Great, great song. Probably the best ever nominated for an Oscar. His performance is perfect. Just an artist playing beautiful guitar and singing like he means it. I love the picking pattern too. I have never seen that exact one before, but it is magic. I've been practicing it for months. I can come close on it off and on as I'm playing that song, but I still have a long way to go. A truism....love the lyrics and score. Great by anyone who sings it, but Ryan is indeed the best. Maybe because he wrote it...collaboratively with T-Bone Burnett but still it was pulled from those who have walked that road of dreams and almost get burned out. Hope to see this team together with great songs....
