I've posted before...but again, today I drink a beer as I listen to this song on the 4 year anniversary of my mom's passing....this is the song I chose to have played at her funeral ...and I have the chorus tattooed on my arm....rip mom....
My Heart is Heavy. It came here with me. It got heavier. And yes. Seeing.. i'm lookin at it now. It's instigating silence and swallowing. Yet, there's a certain strange Joy. If, then we help. But only how we Know to. I Hope Solace is Still Found in this song, . Thinking, if the ice starts breaking beneath your disposition. Best to just Go Home. Check the stove and the lights. Water the plants. 🥸✌️
This should have so many more views than it does, but i guess that just makes it so much more special to those of us who know the great music like this that exists.
I have listened to the black keys since I was a little girl,I grew up listening to Dan's music,he inspired me to become a singer,he has been the biggest inspiration ever, this man truly is a legend,I dont care if anyone says otherwise he is a legend,he is a musical hero. Thank you Dan Auerbach for creating the music that got me through a really rough time in my life, thank you for inspiring me💙
This song i feel touches everyone. No matter how far away from home you are, no matter how many fun things and memories you make, your home will always be your favorite place. It will forever reside in your heart. "their streets did not feel like mine" nothing can replace the memories and images of your hometown! love the last line as well. "Forget about the things you want, be thankful for what all you got"
I dial this song up whenever I fly back home. Not that I am a frequent flier by any means, but I could be gone for 24 hrs, and something feels so right when I play this on the return flight. Thanks Dan.
My girlfriend went on an exchange for 5 and a half months. She's coming back in two weeks and I learned this song for her! I love my girlfriend and Dan Auerbach so much!!!!
A masterpiece. I hear the ghosts of a thousand blues masters applauding this song. I hear Mississippi John Hurt fingerpickin' this on his old guitar, doing the bass line like he does, and giving a nod of approval to Dan on a fine, fine tune he wrote. I even heard wind chimes at the end, just like the CD, which freaked me out, until I realized my window fan was blowing the wind chimes hanging from my ceiling.
"Keep It Hid" is an album where you never forward it to skip a song. Every song is freaking beautiful & meaningful. Then Dan's voice just takes you right where you need to be. "Be thankful for what all you've got". Good advice man, great actually.
I just moved from my home town that I spend my whole life in. I still crushed and home sick, I miss it everyday more than the last. This song brings me to tears remembering those days well spent. No streets will ever feel the same as the ones the scream out "home". "I saw the streets all ripe with jewels, balconies and the laundry lines They tried to make me welcome there, but their streets did not feel like mine"
I've spent the last four months in China and I'm heading home tomorrow... No song has ever better captured the feelings I have right now, or will ever come close. Every word and every note resonates with how I feel at this very moment. Finally, I'm Goin' Home...
I wish I could thank Dan for the feelings I get from this song. I really wish I could... And i'm sure I'm not the only one, so many bluesmen (living and dead) should be so proud of him!
One of my best friends asked us to see this little film with Jason Reitman in Houston before it was released. So, maybe 12 of us went with Jason. I thought the film was so poignant and congratulated him. I loved Anna Kendrick and George Clooney in it. However, I REALLY LOVED THE MUSIC. I had no clue that this movie would get an Oscar.
As a frequent flyer, this song has accompanied me for over 300k miles travelled. This song means so much to me, it doesn't matter how many times i listen to it, i get chills.
they can say anything they want to about this song or performance but I predict it goes over 1 million plays viral in 6 months. I will sing this to my mom as she is almost comatose today and is more interested in her Lord than us.thank you Dan.You are a gift.
This is one of the prettiest sounding songs on guitar maybe ever. And the lyrics are beautiful...this is a good song. Hits home every time. Pun intended, but in all seriousness. For a travelin' man, this song really eases the ole nerves along with a couple o' drinks and a big bowl o' grass.
Dan looks like Adrien Brody in the end of the movie 'The Pianist' =) Dan is the best, seriously, one of my favorite artists ever. He gives me so many answers, especially in this song. This song gives me hope, the tune makes me feel like something new is coming, something better and it will be here to stay. Amazing, thanks Dan. You're the man.

It's wonderful when music can help heal and also help bring them close to you once again.
almost 4 years ago, this song was my choice to play at my mom's funeral...I love it today as much as i loved it then.....
I cried reading this. I'm sorry your mom died. I hope you're doing well.

This made my heart heavy
I can see why.

Our Nana is currently on hospice. She's going home soon. How happy I am to have had her in my life.
Searched Dan Auerbach, didn't expect to cry.
It's so hard to find songs that you can love more and more every time you hear them.
A masterpiece.

Beautiful song, brought me to tears tonight. It's been a long, long while that I've spent quality time at home with my family.
I close my eyes, and see images of something unexplainable. It's a sad story, but yet happy. Only Dan. . . Mr. Auerbach. WE LOVE YOU!!!
What a great song. I think I've listened to it about 20 times. Simple and powerful. Keep'em coming, Dan!
