This is the most Northernlion video ever. Shame there wasn't a lot of stuff in the pool so it just devolved to "did I remember this score".
The pool is very disappointingly small. I don't know why you wouldn't do this with a pool of at least 10 000 films or whatever. Even if it's a movie you've never heard of, you can do some educated guessing on the average rating based on the title and cover.
@@HawkOfGP It takes too much time and effort to add that many titles would be my guess as to why they didn’t do that.
@@HawkOfGP Because it's 1000x more fun if most people at least know those movies. Also it might have it based on total number of reviews, so it might even not be curated by hand.

a letterbox version of this would be interesting where instead of comparing overall scores between two movies you saw the score a letterbox user gave one movie and had to guess wether the SAME user rated the second movie higher or lower

Uncut Gems truly is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s felt like a rollercoaster of emotions the entire time.
In the same way endgame was marvels culmination, this series feels like NLs culmination. If he put one of these out with the avengers theme going I don’t know if I could handle it

Dude, I was gonna start bringing up the best horror movies in the business. And then I looked at their IMDB scores and you're right. Blair Witch Project, 6.5. Get Out, 7.7. Really, more modern horror seems to be the criminally underrated. The Shining and The Thing have respectable scores.
@@GuidingOlive To be fair, Blair Witch really isn't a good movie. Haha. I only just watched it a couple of months ago and don't know how it even has a 6.5. I get it was good when it came out and brought in a bunch of movies into that sub genre, but it just doesn't hold up one bit...

Memes aside, this is honestly a fascinating look at the knowledge of Internet and pop culture and human behavior. Factoring in the biases of what demographics rate movies as well as what type of movies tend to score higher on a particular rating site. This is actually the type of entertaining movie knowledge that TH-cam needs more of.
The WALL-E vs Toy Story 3 I was 100% in on WALL-E. Didn't think it was close but to NLs credit he said TS3 would have the nostalgia benefit. Just goes to show just how good WALL-E was. Such a good movie.
Is it really that hard for games like this to feature a larger pool of movies to prevent constant repeats?

They gotta update these scores more often. I kept getting Everything Everywhere All at Once, which I already know is currently tied for 3rd highest rated movie on IMdB with a 9/10 but this quiz does not seem to agree with that.

The only reason NL can hate on _X-Men: The Last Stand_ is because they deleted the scene in which Kelsey "Frasier Crane" Grammar's Beast gives a moving (and dare I say arousing?) speech taken directly from William Shakespeare's _Henry V_ (in the Old English, in the 5th grade _and_ he understood what was happening):

If they hadn't cut that scene, _X-Men: The Last Stand_ would be uncontested in besting the puny likes of _Parasite_ and _The Shawshank Redemption_

@@ILubBLOfficial I use IMDB more than a person should, and I agree with this statement, although from 6-6.9 has some hidden gems, if you’re into more artsy/non main-stream things like Mandy for example, you can sometimes go below 7
@@nashburt6635 people see it as how we see school grades, with anything below a 6/10 being a failing grade. Obviously, when reviewing movies, a 5/10 should be super mediocre, anything lower bad and anything higher above average. But people, Americans especially, are conditioned to thinking the former way.
If it's a horror movie, all bets are off. Scores are always 1-2 points lower than they should be for sp00ky.
the franchise movies has such overblown ratings compared to regular movies, fans eat any shit up whether it's hobbs and shaw or the fifth chapter of pirates of carribean. Whereas even a slightly more challenging or unorthodox movies are likely to have a rating below 7

The problem with IMDB is that a lot of botting is going on, especially for newer films. IMDB has a system where its harder to change a rating once its in place so, all the producers just have it spammed 10/10s after release and no matter how much the film bombed its then still on a 7 or 8.
True, I just played the game and a lot of the ratings of newer films (2018-) has deviated quite a bit. But older movies with hundreds of thousands of ratings already, the rating will likely never change again, unless just +/-0.1

my general rule of thumb with this is: if it's disney, mcu, nolan or tarantino, then it's likely to beat the actual good film it's compared to by miles

Same. I likedThe Last Jedi for trying something different and was surprised how many other diehard SW fans hated it. And The Rise of Skywalker is just awful ... catered to a vocal part of the fanbase by undoing all of the interesting choices from TLJ and all of the Palpatine stuff is really dumb and undermines the journey of Anakin from the earlier films.
I enjoyed the nostalgia from 7, really wanted Finn to be a force sensitive like the trailers gave hints too, but it was still a fun movie and really enjoyable.
8 and 9 are exactly like NL said. I think 9 is the only Star Wars movie I dislike.
