I used a snap on branded wrench but I’ve done plenty with the a harbor freight version as well with success but if you want as of lately I’ve been buying wera tools and can definitely recommend them
The zip tie trick is genius. I ended up marking my cams and chain so I knew where to put it back (ensuring TDC alignment) but next time I do valves I’m going to do zip ties because that looked a hell of a lot easier to reassemble (and without fear or dropping the chain).
@@monochrome5.0 Hell yes, not wrestling with that chain alignment and proper seating (and being paranoid I would break my engine if it wasn’t perfect) for 1+ hr would make my day muchhhhh better
@aaronflores1262 tbh I think that dam cover was the most difficult part. If you run into any issues or questions that my half ass video doesn’t answer just shoot another comment. And I’ll try to assist
@@monochrome5.0another question, because I just so happen to be at 19k miles as well, almost 20k. Was your valve cover gasket still in good shape and reusable?
Taking me a while to do mine but this one’s probably the most informative video I found thanks!
It was a struggle, but I definitely got the hang of it now. So much easier then it seems
Thank you
@@monochrome5.0 also the video you linked in the description is "not available".. says it is "set to private"
Yeah I guess the guy took it off his public feed
If you don’t mind telling me. What torque wrench did you use? I’m looking at buying one to do this service

Diving into my 23', only 5k on the clock but 3500 of that is redline😂 hoping the rattle is my valves and not the bottom end😅😂
Oh shit 🤣. I mean the Kawi’s are known for being noisy
@@monochrome5.0 this is true, but better safe than sorry😂
Thanks for doing this great video mate. Learn a lot.
What valve shim kit did you get I have 2013 that I’m doing it
Hot cams kit off of Amazon
Love this, never seen it before and I'm thankful for the lesson / guide. Really good.

Exactly. I could do valves all day With that method

Did you leave the can chain tensioner on? And if you did, it didn’t cause any problems?
No you have to take it out 2 bolts and it’s out. 12:33 on the video is when I added a note about that 🤙🏽 get after and good luck… it’s pretty easy.
@@monochrome5.0 thanks dude! I’ve already got the cam cover accessed, just waiting on feeler gauges, spark plugs and air filter 👍

@aaronflores1262 yes I reused it and amd rode it for another 6k still no leaks even when I sold it at 25k miles
I have 15k on my 2021 636 when should I service it ? I’ve heard 20k-30k ? Anyone knows the proper number?
States to get the valves at least checked at 15k but you could always ride it out till 20-25k
You forgot to install yellow chain guard 20:07
Rewatch it, that was after measuring… I was already taking the cams back out to change shim size some more
How can I get access to the service manual?
Type in your email I’ll send the link over.
it’s the same for 2013-2022.
useful guide, thanks!
Thanks for the guidance it helped alot
It’s so much easier after the first go around. Glad my terrible walk through could help.
Hey dude where did you get you shims ?
