@@amcaljosh Cars are fast, but you have to deal with traffic, less space for people, and slower speed limits. Planes are good, but, they get more and more expensive as the years go on, you can't hold nearly as many people as a train, and the aviation business is being put in jeopardy because of a jet fuel shortage. Not to mention the large amount of plane crashes in the past decade.
After WWII, cars and planes started taking away passenger business, then in the 60's the government cancelled the mail contracts for all passenger trains in the country which rendered basically every passenger train unprofitable. Because of this, railroads began discontinuing tons of services and the few that were left often used old, dirty equipment that was 20 years out of date. This left a poor taste in many American's mouths, and put passenger trains in a bad light. Ever since then, Amtrak and many other passenger services have been struggling to shake that image.
Long Answer: 70 years of railroad overregulation The government using tax dollars (some of which came from railroads) to build airports and highways, directly giving money to their competition. And of course, people wanting to use the new highways and airports Short Answer: the United States government
Honestly the streamlined K4 was the most unique streamliner. It was brown, the funnel had a cartoon effect, and overall it looks cool and had a unique case
0:54Yessss! I’ve been waiting for the 4-4-2 Atlantic to show up in one of these videos, the Twin cities Hiawatha is my favorite train in the history of American rail.
coronation scot as a song is perfectly orchestrated to make you feel as though you're flying through the countryside via plane, but no, instead you are going by train, the safest and fastest way to transport multiple people and goods all at the same time with the same speeds
Noticed that the Pigtails reappear 3 times, with their different evolutions of passenger engines, the first being the K4, then the T1, and finally EMD E series diesels. Was that an Easter egg?
the problem is, a lot of the music is meant to sound like steam locomotives, especially the beginning and 0:42, and we all know Amtrak has no steam locomotives

I've seen this engine so many times at the Illinois Railroad Museum, but these shots here make me see it alot different. Thank you
Love it! The combo between retro trains and orchestral music is perfect.
It's always a good day when AmtrakGuy uploads a Trainz video
As a lifelong New Haven fan, I thank you for including the EP-5
and the I-5
Back when America thrived in passenger rail. What the hell happened? We used to build absolute masterpieces.
Ikr? Cars and planes happened. People then didnt want to take the trains and it all later became what it is now.

The music sounds like something from a children's educational series.
I like when the trumpets make a whistle noise and you sync it with it lol
Cuz of this video I’m making a video about the coronation scot with the song cuz. This video got me addicted to that song
Mind You, the music in the video is called "Coronation Scot", and we start off with a loco from Pennsylvania that ALREADY LOOKS like a Coronation.
Great streamliners and freighters
Good job

It is almost a nostalgic take on American Passenger Railways
Very nice. The NP 2626 has to be my favorite shot.
Well done ending with the 20th Century Limited and Broadway Limited racing each other.
Awesome video! The music sounded classical but had the fast pacing of something like looney tunes, keep up the great work!!
This is the best video you have ever made.
