- In this video I show you how to fix Fortnite FPS drops, stutters and low FPS issues. Sometimes dropped frames cause stutters in Fortnite which may be perceived as lag. One of the best and easiest ways to fix Fortnite FPS drops is to optimize your Fortnite settings for performance. In most cases you will want each setting set to the lowest option, or one of the lower options. This will prevent FPS drops by reducing the load required to run the game. Having the Fortnite settings set too high can also result in low FPS which isn't ideal when playing.
If the Fortnite FPS drops and stutters isn't fixed then you can also try updating your graphics card drivers. In cases where the issue is new or only occured after an update this can be the solution. For people with an NVIDIA graphics card you can update your drivers using the GeForce Experience application.
Another solution for FPS drops and low FPS issues it to optimize your NVIDIA control panel settings. When the control panel settings set to optimize performance you should get higher FPS in Fortnite.
You can also optimize your computer for higher FPS by turning off hardware acceleration on other applications that may be open. Google Chrome and Discord both have hardware acceleration options. If you play Fortnite with either of these programs open then this may be affecting your FPS.
Additionally, in Windows 10 and Windows 11 you have graphics settings that can be toggled to improve FPS in Valorant. Typically you will want to have the reduce latency and improve performance option enabled, however, in some cases, it is better to have it turned off.
Another way to get higher FPS in Fortnite is to clear out your computer. The easiest way to free up some space is to delete temp files. Temp files aren't needed and will automatically be recreated by applications when needed. The temporary data is often unneeded or outdated and not being used anymore. It's usually a good idea to delete your temporary files every now and again.
Although unlikely, there are some cases where having a game overlay open will cause FPS drops in Fortnite. You can check if this is the issue by disabling your overlays and attempting to play Fortnite again. Some examples of overlays are the Discord game overlay and the NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay.
Removing any overclocking that you have on your PC can also fix Fortnite stutters. You can quickly check if this is the issue by disabling your overclocking and trying to play again.

I was on amd rx 5802048sp 8gb fortnight ran at 80fps smoothly and upgraded to 4070 msi and now I get 120 on high settings but stutter like a lot so idk if it’s invidia drivers maybe I made sure to use ddu to remove amd drivers so idk wut is going on 😢

This made my Fortnite wayyy worse. I wasn't really having FPS issues but figured I'd give this a shot anyways, and this made it stutter soo badly. I played one game with these settings and it was absolutely unplayable. I had to revert back to my original settings. For anyone with a lower end PC, set your graphics to the low preset, using DirectX 11 or 12. Then, set your 3D resolution to between 80-90%. This will use lower quality textures to bring your FPS up, however by turning your 3D resolution up, it will look normal and not like it's 480p.

Dude has an entire gaming setup for the lowest settings possible cuz grass gets disabled and can see were consoles can't, not only that the game looks worst than any PS3 games. Just get a 1080p or 1440p(2k) monitor and enjoy fps, 4k is unnecessary it only gives more stress to gpu

For anyone looking on this video right now, when you are in Nvidia Control Panel do NOT use "Use the advanced 3D image settings". Instead you should check the box and use "Use my preference emphasizing" and dragging it all the way to Performance. Trust me, this will boost your FPS in every game on your PC.

@@s4rm115 i know but that is only a good option for a good gaming pc. For low end or mid end, you should pick the performance option for better FPS. I got a mid end pc and my pc seriously got 50 more FPS. The game doesnt that much worse either.

its called frame stutter. the frame jumps are too big. my game can go from 150 fps to 30-40 fps. totally unplayable.

I've had FPS drops since Chapter 5. I play at 144 FPS. But hard FPS drops since Chapter 5. Why? Before that, always 144 FPS consistency. Now sometimes under 100 FPS to 50 FPS. I have AMD Ryzen 9 5950x RTX 3070 TI. And my CPU usage % is more busy. Why is this and what can I do about it?

I have clean 144 fps in Creative and Publics but sometimes my Screen Just freeze and i cant do anything for 3-4 seconds an After that it Runs normal.
The Crazy thing about it, if my Screen stucks in air (jumping or whatever) im freezing in the Air in Game.

My fps is dropping from 400 to 6 fps when I jump from the battlebus and getting same fps drops through out the map my specs 13700kf , RTX 3080 , 64BG ddr5 6400mhz , 360hz monitor, wd black 2tb sn850x ssd , 850 watt psu and a 360mm aio CPU temps doesn't even go above 63 Celsius

I don’t get it no matter what i do my game still stutters. I have a ryzen5 5600x with a 3060ti and 32gb of ram. All of my drivers are updated and I even reinstalled windows. All of my other games runs great on ultra settings like cyberpunk.

Recently, I've bought a 2000$ PC and my other games are totally fine. But not Fortnite, unfortunately. Specs are: Ryzen 9 7900X, RTX 4070 Super, 64GB RAM. I installed Fortnite on SSD and there is enough free space on it. The problem is I've got stutters and my screen freeze once I press a move key or when I pick up a gun and while shooting. I think I did everything to fix that problem - I reinstalled the game for a few times, I verified it's files in Epic Games Launcher, I reinstalled an NVIDIA driver. I also checked the temperatures of the units and there was nothing to worry about. My case is all the more bizarre that game used to work for every 2nd/3rd day. Actually it tends to f*ck up. Moreover, I've got a Fortnite also on my older PC which is worse and I've never experienced such problem on it. I really don't know what to blame, where is the reason, where is the source of problem. I thought the problem is Fortnite. But now I don't know. I'm tired of it! The worst thing is I can't play with my friends! Have anyone the same problem? Pls help!!! :( :( :(

Hey, sorry this didn’t work for you. I covered the most common fixes for FPS drops. Yours may be something else. Are the drops a recent thing or has it happened for months? Might want to run a scan to see if you have malware running in the background. Also try restarting your PC then close every other program/application and see if the issue persists.

It doesn’t, must be something wrong with your pc. Try scanning for viruses, look for any bottleneck and try find out why it’s lagging. You can use the NVIDIA overlay to show cpu and gpu usage, temp ect. Should help you find where the issue is

It's the same for me. I used to have stable fps but everytime there are more than 2 players on my screen or when I'm fighting my games starts stuttering and even a drop from like 200 fps to 60 or 50 is visible when playing and it's really annoying.

I was getting huge fps drops when looking around. My mouse polling rate was the issue. Had it at 8000hz and dropped it to 1000hz and now smooth as butter!

I have an rtx 4070ti abd a ryzen 7 7800x3d and i can play minecraft loaded with mods and shader with like 200fps or star citizen with 70 or so. But when it comes time fortnite… everything i do makes it even worse. Frame drops… Stutters… low fos in general… i think i quit
