Just pulled one of these carbs apart today for the first time. Same issue you described, runs best with the choke out. The gaskets looked much like yours. Have a rebuild kit on the way. Thanks for your informative video!
Thanks for this video. It helps a lot. Sorry about the knee pain. Looked like you had surgery. I'm a retired chiropractor. If your still having knee pain take a rolling pin and roll it over the muscles in you leg. If you find a sore spot work that area the most. This might help.
It's nice to see somebody else take a thing apart before you ever have to do it yourself. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍 And I noticed it must have stopped raining for about 5 min there. The road looks a little drier than it was in the last vid.
Thank You Kevin, the one thing I have always done is when setting up for winter I add a shot of ATF to the gas in the tank in the last tankful, and run the mower dry. this lubricates the Carb, pump, and cleans the bowl. Also I can get non - ethanol gas here so often I will utilize that intermittently during the season. And yes those pesky lil springs are the worst, never thought of KY, to assist in holding, Thanks, Brother. . . . Ya'll ;; B Blessed BIG time 2 Day & 4 Ever, in YAH'SHUA's Mighty Name
tks for sharing this, I have a 8hp Briggs on a MTD 31 ton log splitter. It has the plastic version of this fuel pump. It's a stand alone unit meaning the valve casing and cover are not part of the engine housing, cannot find this anywhere. Any ideas? tks again
I searched lawnmower fuel pump kit on Ebay and scrolled through until I found one that matched. Nearly every seller had their own part number. Fortunately, the kit has more than one application, so there are extra parts. I have rebuilt carburetors since the 1960s. There's almost always more parts than you need. (I've got a drawer full) One very important thing: Don't drop the spring!
I broke mine down and cleaned out my carb and pump and it won’t run anymore, it seems as though the pump isn’t pulling in any gas? Anyone have any insight? There’s no way to prime it from the looks of it
You can fill the carburetor by pouring fuel down the line that goes directly to it. Small bottle, funnel, don't spill, hook the line back to the pump. Also, check the vacuum line to the pump. If it leaks, even the slightest, your pump won't pump.

Best video for this carb I've seen yet. Simple and well spoke. I can appreciate that. Thank you.
Thanx Kevin another person took mine apart and i ended up putting it back and ur video was spot on
Very well done, my friend, now I will go out and take mine apart to examine. Hoping just the vacuum tube is bad. If need be I will order the new kit.
@@johnwallacemcclure1143 It was cheap, too!

..Thanks Kevin for this. got a couple of Briggs like that and they need the pump. Now i can do it right...!!
I recommend not doing it outside on the grass! Concrete would be much better. Your gonna drop something!!
Nice job, Kevin. You have a mini tractor.
I have a few. I'll do a video.

Ebay for about $10. As long as it has 3 hose connections, it'll work. I searced 8 hp briggs fuel pump. Lots of choices from $10-34.
very good love the detail
Thank you!
Cool little frog inside the hood. Lol
