    I am a master plumber from Michgan. I will be relocating to Ghana next year. On your lavatories or sinks get rid of the flex traps and 22 degree fitting, install a p-trap that goes direct into the waste piping system. The flexibility piping reduces the flow water leaving the fixture.
    There should be a p-trap in your showers and floor drains so there is no sewer gas coming into the building.
    Another issue is the breathing or venting of your plumbing system in the way that piped in the plumbing system. These should have consideration of these issues done before hand. I hope that the plumber didn't use any tee's in the waste line where wyes should have been used. If you need consultation contact me.

    Congratulations on moving in. I am happy that you are now enjoying your lovely house.
    Bright and Clara's channel shows this smell can be avoided by how how waste pipes are routed to the septic tank.

    Listening from California USA. Great video , but I think one way valves specifically made for drainage pipes, placed inside the large pipes going to the soakaway would solve all the pipe smells within the house.I had them placed in my pipes 4 years ago when I replaced my old pipes.

    Great looking construction work Asher. Just a suggestion with your drain plumbing, there should have been a cover or lid with a tight fit on both ends with rubber gaskets and the silicone application wouldn't be necessary.

    • @aberba
      @aberba 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, silicone is a bad idea for something that'll eventually be replaced. Surprisingly, local shops that I know in my city don't have proper trap. People have been doing basin installation wrong for yrs. That flexible hose (at those I've seen locally) is poor quality. They break pretty quickly.

    Another trick to prevent the sewer gas from seeping in is to add a no return valve / clean out in the waste line just as it exits the building.

    • @GhanabaKwaku
      @GhanabaKwaku 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Non return valves are awesome; they also prevent sewer from backing into the building in case the septic tank overflows.

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The smell is not coming from the waste line!

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol
      The actual sewer cannot back into the building in our case. The sewer cannot climb back into the house - there is no force behind it. Unless you mean the sewer gas? - that is trap by the p-trap toilet
      So not sure what you mean?

    Would it be a bad idea to channel all the kitchen, bathroom basin, floor drains and shower waste water into a separate soakaway? This will guarantee no faecal smell feedback. A small soakaway filled with rubble is worth considering.

    Why is flexible p-trap used? Is there not a rigid type on the market? The corrugation on this flex will trap dirt.

    • @yaababy1572
      @yaababy1572 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are rigid types on the market. A flex tube for drainage is a horrible idea.

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All basins - palace home decor / west african hardware, etc . Come with flexible tubes only.
      It is up to the plumber to install the flex tube in the style of a P trap and apply the silicon and glue correctly.
      Kitchen sinks come with a bottle trap typically
      I got all my water using appliances set up as a P trap as much as possible now.

    Your plumber didn't do a professional job for you.
    The plumbing rough - ins are incorrect, almost at the height of the hand wash basin, 60cm from the floor should do.
    Using a flexible waste pipe will cause so much problems in the future, use Bottle/ P Traps.
    The floor drains traps are too shallow,(get a deeper ones) the water seal can easily evaporate and the smell problem will persist.
