This is cool to see!! I purchased the Turbo Duo at Toy's R Us at a massive clearance sale back in the 90's, along with every Turbo game and CD I could get my hands on at 79 cents a piece! It still works perfectly. Hudson games were my favorite.
I’m glad it arrived ok in the end and that you’re happy with it. I did raise my eyebrow when you said about not using the supplied USB-C cable and power brick. I knew from watching other vids that not all cables and power bricks are created equal and that you would need to use the supplied one, for now anyway. I’m surprised you’re not going for a Pocket next now that they’re more readily available. The versatility in it is amazing by all accounts. It’s good that you have quite the library to test on it too. Cracking stuff Stu.
Well i dont watch others vids as i say mate so go in blind and yeah make mistakes but its all genuine. pocket doesnt interest me its just a mobile raspberry PI now not my thing same as the mister.

Oh man I purchased mine on the 5th November and they won't ship mine because I ordered it after the 1st November roll on February next year LOL the whole things oozes quality I still think its wrong that there is no controller but I have mine in readiness Gone with the black myself because my first NEC experience was the TurboGrafx 16 sent to me FOC from a friend in Canada That's why I also got mine its the same price as the original system and future proofed The quality straight out of the box and start playing games without messing with the setting too much is great and will get better games look great on it cool shooter Stu There will be loads of updates and when the jailbreak comes it's going to be so easy Nicely shared Stu you and the family have a cracking Christmas pal and a good new year

Nice review Stu! Yea it seems you cant use any old usb dongle anymore. I always go with what it comes with or I check to see what it requires. Some still require the old 5V 1A plugs, which is very frustrating.

Twins :) (except I got the black one). Didn't work with the first USB port on a power board I tried but it worked on the 2nd, so definitely the number of Amps it needs is a bit higher. So probably a plug pack for an iPad rather than a phone will give you enough. My Everdrive v1.1 does not work with it, hopefully they fix that with a firmware update at some stage. Very happy to have a new spare machine, to be able to play my collection into the future.
Aha i just watched your vid weirdly enough and saw you had an issue with the psu, i wasnt aware that USB had so many variations in power nowadys! Yeah all the issues can be fixed via firmware update im sure, the core unit is superb imho
You need the original USB C cable because it gives extra amps for the CD drive. You might be lucky and have another C cable that gives the same amps but they are rare and most likely come with equipment requiring those amps. Also the USA adapter makes sure the right amount of amps goes through the C cable. I used an 18 watt USB output that I have (I am in the UK). Strangely I have been playing new adventure island mostly on my system. Also in my few days of having the console I have overcome the low audio output by using the 3.5mm jack on the Duo rather than my monitor. It seems if you input the audo to your TV via hdmi then output the audio through that TV or monitor even with the volume all the way up you can hardly hear it. But if you output the audio from the duo's jack you have a volume control and its REALLY LOUD. Which is excellent. I raised a ticket with Analogue for Chase HQ not working, it seems you need to set the region to Japan for some games, the auto detect doesn't work. Hope some of this helps.

Ive got a dedicated adaptor now so ill use that and the cable it came with, oh ive not got around to trying hardly any of my games yet! im sure any niggles will be fixed in a firmware update

If a hucard doesn't work it just says "play hucard" and screen goes black. I also read another game didn't work which was overcome by selecting "arcade card". I don't have games that use the arcade card. It's an exciting system to have despite its early shortcomings.

Free tbag'n! Cool lil system Stu... What the hell have they done to Wonderboy??...although that looked great it was missing something..and then i realised there wasnt the legendary music to it. The other games run very nice -the system is definitely a worthy addition to the collection. The megaSG really changed and upgraded the tone of sound coming from the sms games which, was interesting...i guess that does the same in some way. Nice to see 😉👍

Good stuff Stu. I got mine last Friday, although it is still sitting there sealed haha. It was a toss up between me paying for a used Duo RX or this, so it turned into a no brainer for me. It can play burned CD games as well, plus you can use the Everdrive card on it. Once it is jailbroken it'll be good to go for everything. Well worth the money.

@tootyuk yeah it was quick delivery. I'd prepaid my customs charge of £59.10 to UPS. The cost of the console is actually very reasonable, it's the $80 postage cost for us outside the US that's bumps it right up, as this then is included on the customs charge, robbing gets. I expected it though, as I've bought from Analogue in the past, both the SuperNT and MegaSG as well as the Pocket. I really rate them. Like you say yourself, you're future proofing your collection. Before buying from them and importing, I watched a lot of ebay auctions to buy them over here, but the price reflected all those extra additional costs in the total, so I just bought brand new from manufacturer. It is ridiculous how a lot of people have reacted, I watched a few other 'reviews' but they're just click bait rubbish, picking fault and causing mountains out of mole hills for the clicks. But that's TH-cam for you these days. Happy Console Gamers review was nice and what it's all about for me, much more from a gamers perspective. Its not always about having everything pixel perfect or 100% sound clarity. I'm sure everyone of those criticising it never complained as a 10 year old playing on a refurbed 14 inch portable in the 90s with a crackly speaker and RF input wobbling about.

Mine arrived today :0). Their devices are fussy with the cables; for an easy like i swapped over the power lead I use for the pocket dock (belkin) and worked a treat. Fairly self intuitive particularly if you’ve dabbles with other products. Cd feels mega tight but maybe it’ll loosen over time (that sounds friggin wrong doesn’t it 😂). I went for the jpn one too. Looks the bees knees 👌 Tried 2 cd games and so far so good.

@tootyuk saw somthing on this on game sack it needs more power than a standard charger that's why they recommend using the one that comes with the machine! But I'd imagine a fast charger would do the job but I'd check what power it needs I think fast chargers do 22w 65w or 100w but then you'll also need a fast lead aswell. I'm sure you know all this anyway

Its all relative re the price, if you used to buying £1 xbox 360 and ps3 tat then its expensive, if your used to buying neo geo AES games then its not.
Select + Down for menu and if you have the 8BitDo PCE controller Home works. Also Analogue OS has yet to receive a jailbreak so it's a bit of a stretch to assume one will come. Pocket only ran roms because it has a second FPGA for OpenFPGA development. All future Analogue consoles will have Analogue OS so unless Kevtris secretly releases one the chances are slim we'll see any for the Duo and beyond anytime soon.
Very nice Stu. Analogue to some great stuff, just a shame the dont acomodate their european customers with the appropriate adapters, especially given what you pay for these things.
I think Stu the styling is inspired by the original Duo (not Duo R) with similar wavey edging and controller port, volume slider etc on left side. Like you said once jailbroken hopefully we can play stored roms which will be really really nice given the vast library of CD games that are silly prices not to mention the Hucard big hitters. Saves risking harm to our original games too. 😊 Take care mate.
Yeah. The overall design is inspired by the original Duo, but particularly the US Duo - as there's no purple highlighting of the Japanese Duo. However, they did the white Duo in honour of the DuoR/RX.
