  • If you are one of the many people worrying about our food and where it comes from, you’re not alone! And now there’s a new reason to worry. A silent earthquake is fracturing our food systems. These new cracks are spreading all the way from digital giants in Silicon Valley and Seattle and shadowy asset management companies on Wall Street, through the industrial food chain…...heading for seeds... shop shelves...and the food on your table.
    So what’s going on?

This is so important to see! It doesn’t seem like many are listening or can see what’s going on. Or maybe it’s that they don’t want to face it. I don’t know, but I do worry. Somebody I know actually said, “Bill Gates is a blessing to this country(United States)...

Governance of the financial sector is somehow addressed but it should be stressed out. Decentraliced food production and distribution, as well as local agro-climatological criteria for community resource management in the rural areas is doable. But the question is how to feed the so called smart cities? Can agroecological food supplies provide what the "smart" inhabitants demand from the food system? Probably not. There is a need to re-wire ourselves as a species. Thanks to ETC for this thought provoking animated documentary.

I agree that data driven tech mixed with profit maximisation is risky as hell. But the picture is more complex: traditional knowledge is not always ready to answer new questions arising from a climate crisis-world. New weather patterns, new pests, diseases, new social organisations. We need a mix of types of knowledge, and that might include some tech. How we govern the tech is key: not for-profit but for-public good.

Well done ETC, I have been following ETC since RAFI days!
Is it possible that a Indian version of this is produced, so that it reaches farm communities on a large scale?
