  • In Part 3 of the Neighborhood Clean Up series, we move from collection in Citrus Heights, to the City of Elk Grove, California. In Elk Grove, Republic Services collects Bulky Waste piles from residents once per year, to ensure a clean neighborhood and prevent illegal dumping. I headed out during the Summer of 2015 to go out and film this legendary crew collecting in Elk Grove. It was a lot of fun, super hot, and I got some great video and pictures.

I agree with these other comments: the loader is really quite "useless;" less time is used by the garbage crew picking up the stuff!

I think it's mainly there to prevent injuries for the workers. Picking up all that material every day for months probably takes a toll on your back.

OMG! Just pick the shit up by hand and be done with it! What a waste of time with the loader.

+Bob Ross I Agree. The loader can sometimes be a great tool to move super heavy stuff or large piles of yard debris, but other than that it isn't very effective at all. Rancho Cordova and Citrus Heights (both areas served by this same yard) have a hybrid system that uses multiple trucks and one loader. You should check it out sometime, I think you would like it. It's called "Neighborhood Clean Up (Part 1)".
