    You can tell the difference between a cheap rug and a well made rug. Bleeding and losing yarns way into the cleaning process is very telling. That last end result was breathtaking for what the rug was.

    • @cassandramuller7337
      @cassandramuller7337 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +192

      While I agree on the shedding part in this case, I'd say the bleeding was to be expected. Red dye is notorious for doing this, esprcially if it was the first wash.

    • @lilytheboycat
      @lilytheboycat 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +92

      Bleeding has nothing to do with the quality of the rug. It is the process and materials used when the threads are dyed. If the dye is not stabilized with a mordant the dye will bleed. In addition, especially with wool, the dye must soak and not strike the fabric. Dye adheres to polyester better than cotton or wool. Protein threads, like cotton, wool, and silk will usually release dyes no matter what the color.

    This rug looks like a homemade dye job. I know that it was kind of popular about 10 years ago to dye throw rugs yourself if they didn't match decor. I wonder if someone just dumped the tub of dye into the rug and never rinsed it out, then considered it a loss and just tossed it? Whatever the excuse, you brought it back from the brink! Well done!

    How many gallons of water does it take to clean a rug that size? Does it vary a lot depending on how dirty the rug is? So cool to see the before and after!

    This is the video that brought me to your channel. I was absolutely fascinated watching a bright red rug slowly emerge from under all that grime. Now I use your videos as background noise when I'm studying or working on assignments :) I never cease to be amazed by your ability to transform a rug from some shade of Filthy to something that looks almost brand-new.

    I am a large apartment building owner here in San Francisco. 95% of our apartments have hardwood floors. We put down rugs in the bedrooms and the living rooms. If the tenants want to use there own rugs it’s fine by us. Before we give keys to the new tenant the apartment is cleaned with the rugs vacuumed. Every 5 years we start the process of having the all of our rugs professionally cleaned. I have known that there is a process to washing rugs, but I had not known how labor intensive it is until I started watching your videos. We have thousands of rugs we use, and are amazed on how they are retired back to us. Night and day. You do an AWESOME JOB! I enjoy your videos to the point of questioning to myself no way that rug can be cleaned. Maybe that is why I stay away from Vegas.

    First let me say, I have enjoyed your videos. Some 25 years ago I had a janitorial service. I actually had attended Service Master school and I wasn't that impressed. From the age of 18 I did cleaning on the side. I was hired by Service Master where I was living and I was asked if I would like to go their school. I agreed. After returning the company took on a new boss who was just no good, end of story. I decided I could do as well on my own.
    I had never cleaned any red carpet but landed a huge job. The home was almost 3,000 square feet, 2 levels and a basement. The main floor had a deep burgundy carpet with 3 hallways and the house was empty. I started cleaning and was scared shittless when I realized it was "bleeding". I continued on and cleaned the entire house. When I was finished, the carpet was beautiful. I had given them an estimate of between $4,000.00 and $5,000.00 for the entire house. That job earned me more business than I could handle. I had 8 people plus myself working and later sold the business at a very nice profit. From that day on, give me read carpet anytime.
