Not to go full English teacher mode over a puss in boots movie, BUT, I feel like a message in this movie is that your past doesn’t define who you’ll become. Like, yeah, Jack Horner was overshadowed by others, but he also had a happy childhood, loving home, and thriving bakery business to inherit. Yet he still latched onto the part about being overshadowed and turned out so irredeemably evil. Meanwhile, Perrito, who spent his whole life being rejected, thrown aside, even almost murdered by drowning, kept that positive, happy, wholesome outlook through it all. In the end, Perrito got the family he dreamt of, and Jack only got death at the hands of the magic he so greedily desired.

You could say that this rhyme was one of the first instances of making fun of someone who made a career out of virtue signaling

here's the rhyme if you can't remember:
    little jack horner

    eating a horner pie,
    he stuck in his thumb,
    pulled out a plum, said
"What a good boy am I!"

This guy after watching Puss In Boots 2, is my favorite villain because after years of being given twist villains or villains that have signs of being a good person (sympathetic villains I can be fine with at times as long as they are well written). Jack Horner is a villain that knows he's evil, and he loves being evil. I mostly love villains that are bad because they love being bad. And this theme hits perfectly. It almost sounds like he's a crime boss you don't want to mess with. Also he is a very funny. I love my villains with a scene of humor.

One thing that I love about Big Jack Horner is that he never really shows any malice towards the people that stole the map from him (including Goldilocks and co). He doesn't particulare care about them, hes not after revenge, he wants magic, thats it. He just doesn't care about anyone, for him theres no difference between his employees and the people who antagonize him.
