It is also a really good way of stretching your comfort zone, improving yourself in a way. Great idea, 90% great people (which is far more better then in regular life), absolutely worth it. Just keep in mind that when you are a guest you have to follow the host's house rules and when you are a host that you are giving a gift, and when something is a gift you don't expect anything in return for it. You need to talk and make friends with the host before entering their homes. The host will judge whether you're a good or a bad person based on your conversation and manners. Your host also probably asked for your id and stuff
And it also depends on the country and the host verification status and reviews. Crime levels on a developed countries and poor countries will definitely be far different. The traveler will tell and review about the good things the host have served to them
